Meatmortem recap1: Wii and Wiiware canceled, but we are now 3ds devs so who knows what may happen!

Meatmortem recap 2: Last 2 months of development were hell and xbla launch didnt go as planned due to underperforming Game Feast promo

Meatmortem recap 3: Steam out sold xbla, we have sold about 400k copies to date.

Meatmortem recap 4: the retail edition is almost done and will have tons of awesome extras
...

...

no surprise that it did best on STEAM with the crazy holiday sale of $2.50, what a deal and just right after release too

*$3.75, oops. Good to hear it was a success on PC.

I'd kill for portable SMB!

Btw, who's publishing it at retail? I wonder why they've scratched a Wii retail sku.
Soooo.. Piracy means Pc developement is worthless eh? Steam outsold XBLA.

Wasn't this mostly Nintendo's fault, though? I thought it was because of file size limitations on Ninty's part and Team Meat refusing to release an incomplete game on WiiWare if Nintendo wasn't willing to help them out.

This was their response to a similar remark:

yeah but it also out grossed. before the xmas sale we had made as much in those 2 weeks as we did on xbla

No, I blame Team Meat for thinking they would get "exceptions" to that cap. How you can plan, code, draw, animate, compose and just think "oh, I'm sure they'll let us fly over that 40 meg limit that's been in place for 3-4 years?"

As I said, I love the game we got, but I just wish they planned better.

They should be lucky for every sale they get at 1200 points. The game should be 400-800 points tops.

That's crazy. SMB is ridiculously value-packed; moreso than the vast majority of 1200 point releases, certainly.

Yay, more 3DS developers.

Team Meat are lovely.

I'm part of the problem. I need a price cut if I'm going to buy it. I guess I already missed the sale though :(

Can't say I agree, personally.

While I admittedly bought it at launch on XBLA for $10 and on Steam during the holiday sale, I felt Super Meat Boy offered more content for its money than any other download-only game I've played this gen.

It was 800 at launch and is by far the best true platformer in years. They have added over 40 free levels on xbla alone for the price of nothing.

Newell once said that individual game sales usually go up about 400% during sales and stay high in the weeks after the sale is over. They likely made up for it.

Still didn't finish the Cotton Alley and some dark worlds, but it's an excellent game. Hundreds of deaths ensued and nearly all of them didn't annoy me. It was that fun.

They did good money-wise, no need for worries there. Edmund even moved from his apartment to a bigger house with his wife.

It should be 400-800 points higher than it was.

Sorry, big budget cinematic hollywood-fuck game fans, Super Meat Boy was legitimately one of the best games of last year.

Deaths actually enhance the experience due to the amazing replays when you beat the level.

Awesome news for them. I'd like to see them do something new on 3DS, but I can't say I wouldn't buy it again.

I agree with this, but with a twist. Yeah it was stupid of them to think Nintendo would bend for them. Its fucking Nintendo.

On the other hand I also think they shouldnt have even bothered thinking about a Wiiware release either, never even should have considered it. 40 meg limit should have shot that idea straight through the skull. Nintendos loss. Glad to see it doing so damn well on steam.

"...everything we make will always also be on pc"

All I needed to hear. Congrats to Team Meat.

How many of the 400k sales were when it only cost $2.50?

*shrug* I did my part; got it at launch on 360, on sale on Steam.

Worried the same thing will happen to Retro City Rampage re: canceled Wii Ware version. God I want that game.

Sale was $3.75 for two days and a very sexy one at that as I picked it up on Steam for that price. :D Don't forget Super Meat Boy was released a couple months ahead on 360 than it was on Steam.

What is Game Feast promo? Wonder why Team Meat is using this as partial blame for lower xbox sales?
