Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Few impressions we have for now are really positive.
For me Hayabusa stick is better than Sanwa if Hayabusa buttons are really that good... congratulations Hori you have good arcade sticks at good price.

Yeah, I really want to try them. Hopefully they'll sell them separate at some point.

Hayabusa da bes.

Welcome to the future, how a e s t h e t i c are you? Need a drink?

This is actually pretty surprising and wonder why there isn't news on it.

Besides what someone said about reassigning buttons, my biggest qualm with the original Kai were the Kuro buttons, but now it seems, they've improved it and now may be better than Sanwa according to that SRK post.

Going to have to get rid of my current Kai while it's still trading in for $104 on Amazon.

Wondering the same. Amazon seems to be selling the new model now as they advertise Hayabusa buttons.

I bought a HRAP4 from Frys this week and it was the old one. Anyone get a new model from there? The naming convention is super confusing. Are the Falcons/Hayabusa buttons noticeably better? I guess the only way you'd know for sure which one you are getting is by looking at the box as mine specifically says that it has the kuro buttons. Seems like they are just bringing the HRAPV to the US but as a HRAP4?

The Hayabusa buttons are definitely better than the Kuros. The packages are almost identical with the same UPC, but the stick pictured is the slightly revised top with the silver strip on the right top side with button names, and it references the new buttons. It seems they kept the stock number the same, but just replaced old stock with the updated version. Probably why they had been on sale recently, which seems to have been to clear the channels of the old stock. So depending on where you get it, like a site online where it doesn't specifically reference the new features you might still get old stock.

dang. i wished i had known this when i was at frys last week. seemed like they had just gotten new stock since the floor was empty at first and i saw two employees bring out like 8 hraps to stack up. then again they could have all been the old ones too. i didnt really pay attention :(

Kinda crappy they did a stealth update for this reason.

and as I mentioned above there's an issue with the button mapping feature not working as intended with the new models. Waiting to hear from Hori what's going on there.

I have made up my mind to go arcade stick again. I never got used to my RAP3 but to be fair, I only tried it with Tekken.

I feel like I have potential to do better in Street Fighter V with a Hori RAP4 (want the new edition).

Is there a RAP V / RAP5 coming already?
And the RAP4 have a touchpad? Really?

They gorbidge.

Or at least so I've heard. ;)

I think you're thinking of the Kuro buttons. The Hayabusa buttons are new and barely out in the wild, mostly on the just-revised RAP 4 Kai just being phased in, Japanese arcades, and the new RAP in Japan, I believe.

I didn't like the Kuros, and quite like the Hayabusa buttons.

I got one of the Mad Catz Chun Li TE2 sticks delivered today, what a disaster!

First off there was a crack in the white bezel on the front when I unboxed it.

Second the blue plastic feels really crappy and the hinged front doesn't close flush. This means it makes an annoying creaking sound when you apply any sort of pressure.

Lastly the holographic artwork on the front looks terrible in person, it has a really washed out look to it. Very disappointed considering it cost £180!

Its going straight back to Amazon for a refund. Think I'll try a Hori RAP 4 instead which I can get for £60 less.

Once my Venom is finally done, I think I'm going to dual-mod my iCade Core. Put some new buttons in there (possibly some deep, concave Happ-style ones) and have it work with both my iOS devices and as a regular joystick. The form factor is fine and TBH I'm really surprised it's not the base for a compact competition stick.

i just bought one last week and was VERY impressed with it.

RAP4 has a touch pad. No idea about the RAP V availability as I thought that was Japan only. I think the only difference (since it looks like they are starting to use Hayabusa buttons on RAP4) is the artwork/color and the distance between the stick and buttons. HRAP V is closer together.

That being said...the naming conventions are pretty confusing so I could be completely wrong and there may be other differences lol

There are two RAP V, the old with touch pad and Kuro buttons and the new version with Hayabusa buttons, but seems like RAP V will remain Japan exclusive.
US/Europe has RAP 4 kai instead (Kai isn't available on Japan) And the new Kai now comes with Hayabusa buttons.

Guys... I have a retro-stick question. Which is better stick for PS2 (using stock parts)?

This:

Or this?

I'm into a square gate and have not used either stick before. I'm just in the mood to get a decent arcade stick for my PS1 and PS2 games. I'd also rather avoid modding if possible.

If there is another stick that you recommend for the system, please let me know.

Okay, these buttons are way better than Kuro now that I'm in training mode. Bah gawd.

I just did about twenty fbs per side and didn't miss a single one. I just did dps on both sides and when I tried out the Fighting Edge I had trouble doing them.

This stick feels GOOD.

Really liking my purchase. Now to learn stick.

Okay, the more I play the more I love the buttons. They're different and yet similar to Sanwa. They're textured and highly tactile.

I'm not swapping anything out of this stick except the art.

So are the reports of the newer hori sticks having a frame of input lag shit? Getting sick of madcatz being sold out and $80 more.

Liking the look of the kai /with hayabusa buttons.

VLX are tempting too but kinda crazy to spend that.

Other option is guess would be new pcb for my TE1 that doesn't work on PC. Not feeling like soldering, and Amazon has a pretty fair trade-in.
