How did you get the plexi to stay down? Did you use some spray glue?

are you referring to being flush or asking about the plexi itself? The stock 6 screws+snap in buttons hold the plexi down onto the oem metal base, it is pretty flush because the plexi is the thin "Impact Modified Acrylic " 1/32" option from arthong.

I guess both. Being flushed and staying down. Mine protrudes up for some reason and I checked it several to make sure there isn't anything preventing it from.

Hmm your piece may have gotten warped somehow, heat does affect plexi quite easily (as with any plastic)
The only other thing I can think of is underneath the stock artwork i made sure to use a flathead to scrape every piece of the goo that holds it on off.

Sorry if pics are bad. Stock with the exception of being dual-modded. Considering putting an LS-32 in it...and maybe some smoke-colored ps14kn's but using the plungers from the sanwa's currently in the stick. It's really hard to wanna do anything to the stick, though...it's beautiful.

It's been a while since I've seen the inside of mine, but I don't remember there being enough room to mount an LS-32 correctly.

There isn't unless i modified the plastic molding directly below it. I now only need a Namco ps1 stick and an hrap2 to be happy.

awesome vshg and vs.

it's not just room, its also the mounting. it uses "VF" mounting (two screw points), so LS-32/LS-40 aren't very possible without heavy modification.

alternatively, LS-56/58/33/55 are possible using the VF plate, but for 56/58 you'll have to hole out a bit of plastic/make room for the shaft's bottom to not grind.

56 or 33 it is, then. whatever i can do to not have to modify it too much is great.

What? How is that possible did you get a refurbished one or something?

Very possible. People return sticks to GameStop all the time. One time I bought one and was like "has it been opened?" Manager looked at me and was like "nope." I looked through the see-through panel and saw fingerprints on the stick. I was like "dude, it's been opened." He just said "well you don't have to buy it if you don't want to."

Wow that's fucked. I can't believe he'd rather say "nope" than "I'm not sure". It makes sense that they would carry refurbished sticks but wouldn't they be listed as such?

My guess is either an employee took it home to "test it out" or that someone used it and returned it because they didn't like it. "Refurbished" implies that they actually took the time to clean it and fix any problems that it might have had. I heavily doubt that's the case lol.

Question about the PS360+

I assume that it's a very bad idea to have both a PS3 and a 360 connected at the same time (using the two jacks on the PCB), but if anyone knows for sure, let me know.

(I mean other than the obvious thing that you don't want to hit the guide button and accidentally turn on the 360 - trying to find out whether it will cause damage to the PCB or cause it not to work correctly.)

It won't connect to more than one device at a time. And why would you want two jacks anyway? I just run everything through the RJ45 port.

Setting up an arcade cabinet with PS3 & 360. It's not a big deal to move the cables over when switching consoles but if it were possible to leave them both connected it just saves a step.

In that case you could always setup a switch to swap between the two systems.

Does anyone have recommendations for a PS3 -> 360 converter?

There's not a good one. The best one is nearly impossible to find (read: you won't find one). There's the Cronus adapter which supposedly affects the other player's inputs (sounds weird; but that's what I've heard). There's a Mayflash adapter, but I've heard things about its reliability. The BEST option is to use a PS2 -> 360 converter like the Xtokki 360: http://etokki.com/Playstation2/Xtokki360

I'm looking to get a 3rd party PS3 pad to work on a 360. Is there any way to use two converters (like the Xtokki plus some kind of ps3 -> ps2 converter) together to bootleg a solution, or am I probably out of luck?

(I know this not technically a stick question, I just figured this would be the best place to ask)

Well, you could probably do it but you risk dropped inputs and/or lag. Don't chain converters; that's just begging for lag.
I think the best solution in your situation is to try the Cronus converter. It's alright if you're playing alone. If you're playing with friends, maybe consider the Mayflash converter. Either one might work (more or less) for your needs.

EDIT: Sorry, clarified with a "might." Converters aren't guaranteed to work on any controller so you'll have to test them out.

Do any special bat tops exist? I haven't seen any, seen plenty of spiffy ball tops and feeling left out.

I have a purple aluminum that's awesome, but the weight means you need a stringer spring to make it not loosen the hell out of the stick.

Coincidentally, it works VERY well with a stock LS-40.

PS360+ was successfully transplanted into my main TE along with a neutrik jack for multi system goodness. Easiest install ever, and I've done many different board.

PS: what does everyone use to clean their buttons?

I swear that the next time the V.S. fightstick goes on sale, imm gonna grab one. :v

part rubbing alcohol and part water works for me. alongside a microfibre towelette.

Why couldn't you post this earlier? haha I had one that was basically brand new for 360 that I just traded for a custom. I don't know how much MadCatz discounts theirs, but I would've given you a good deal. And this stick I actually personally tested haha. Oh well lol.

So I'm looking to order my parts for my first custom stick, I've been having trouble getting started and I know once I have the parts I need that will be easier.

I'm having a hard time finding a recent comprehensive list of the best retailers, I live in california, and the only place I'm really aware of is focusattack, Are there better non-sketchy options?

I'm a fan of paradisearcadeshop.com. They have a more varied selection, similar prices and quick shipping. They're my go-to for most items simply because they sell Seimitsu parts as well as Sanwa.

So my custom stick is almost finished

Dual modded, wanted to go with something unique and decided on something Steampunk-ish

Looks nice, I just hope those sharp edges don't give you issues. That looks like it could hurt if you rest your wrists on it.

maybe consider the Mayflash converter.

In the past I have suggested the Mayflash converter but no longer. I have been actively trying to improve my skill in SFIV for the first time a long time by learning to do the 1-3 frame links. On 360 I'm able to pull them off, but on PS3 with the converter I am consistently missing them. Same issue with Darkstalkers, things like Donovan's Tutorial 2 are cake on 360 and simply not registering on PS3.

So yeah. If you plan on doing anything with really tight timing it's not good. (Otherwise, yes, it's still fine, I had no issues playing Metal Gear Rising on a MC MLG pad w/ converter.)

My STG setup currently,

HRAP 2 with full Seimitsu (LS-32-01 Stick & PS-14-GN / ps 14 d-n Buttons)

19” HP CRT with Trinitron tube

nike box ;)

Hooked up too to the Xbox 360 via Xtokki for CAVE joints and too a laptop running shmupmame, both through VGA. Looks beautiful on this display, just currently awaiting delivery on a mini SLG to complete the setup.

Just bought the HRAP 2 recently after wanting it for quite a while. IMO its the nicest looking stick ever, but I'd say that about almost all the hrap variations barring the v3/vx (which are really nice just not supreme.)

damn, I've been putting off obtaining the HRAP2 and HRAP2SA for way too long. For now I'm happy with the 3SE, 1SA, and 1SE (of which I have two!). Shout outs to my Seimitsu advocates! I plugged up L1 and L2 for all my HRAPs, though. Eight button setups always bugged me and I'll even go as far as saying that all the original HRAPs look prettier with plugs.

I'm looking into getting my first fighting stick. I haven't really played fighting games much since my younger days, back on the dreamcast and when you could actually go to arcades, but I just got Injustice because I'm a giant DC fan and it made me want to try it with a stick. I've read through most of this thread and it's been an awesome read so far.

My question is, should I start with a Brawl Stick? I'm playing Injustice on the PS3, and currently do most of my gaming on that system, but the majority of my gaming collection is on XBox 360. Would it be smart to get a 360 Brawl Stick and an adapter since the 360 version is $40 compared to $55 for the PS3 on Amazon right now? Is this the adapter I'd need? http://amzn.com/B0089OBLDO. Or should I spend a little more and get one of either SOULCALIBUR V Arcade FightStick SOUL or the MLG Fightstick Pro? Really like the Mad Catz ones I've looked at. I'd rather have a PS3 one if I was spending the extra money, but then I run into not being able to use it for most of my games. I would have loved to been able to snatch up a Brawl Stick when it was $20 or $30, but I'm not sure I'm in the mood to wait around on a sale, though the MLG and SCV ones seem like good deals right now. Replacing sticks and buttons is something I'd be interested in doing, but at what point does it just make more sense to spend the extra cash now and not worry about it?

One of MadCatz pro sticks such as the MLG stick is the best option. You can worry about customization later. As for convertors, you might want to buy a real PCB to use the stick on two consoles , convertors like the one you mentioned can delays in input and can throw you off.
