Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

I'm thinking about jumping in on the HRAP V4 Hayabusa for PS3./PS4. Can anyone familiar with the Hayabusa series joystick and Kuro buttons let me know how they handle vs Sanwa parts?

I'm a diehard Sanwa guy, but am willing to go for the Hayabusa if the experience is similar or better.

Lots of feeback in tech talk as well.

I prefer Hayabusa sticks over sanwa/seimitsu, but don't care at all for the kuros.

:P

everyone loves the Hayabusa.

I think it's fine. went back to JLF after SCR

no one loves Kuro, but most people think they're fine.

I haven't used them though.

I really don't want to buy a new stick for next gen. Does anyone have any experiences with converter options like the TitanOne and CronusMax? I'd much prefer a 50 dollar gadget over another stick while my old one is still in its prime.

Cronusmax drops inputs on the side that isn't using for 360. Nobody I know has an XB1 and a cronusmax to test out.

I don't trust the product from my experience with it.

The specific use case would be using a 360 TE to play Guilty Gear on either PS3 or 4.

I have used a 360 stick to play on PS3. That works very well, though I haven't tested lag personally, and I haven't played with two people, but I was landing 1 frame links, EWGFs, JF combos in SC5 with aPat just fine. I've heard that they have ps4 compatibility working, but I haven't checked the website in some time and haven't tested that myself.

I'd say for that purpose, you'd be okay. I can't vouch for more than one stick, though. :)

I should amend my statement and say that I don't trust the cronusmax with more than one stick plugged in. For practice/solo play, I think it works well.

I wouldn't be using more than one. The main reason I'm considering it is because I really don't want to buy a second stick. Money aside, they take up a bunch of space. Thanks for the advice.

I am not really worried about getting a stick for the PS4 or the XB1. I really just need a stick for the PC. My dilemma is I own a Madcatz TE-S (The ones made when Super Street Fighter 4 came out) the thing I got one of the really early ones for the PS3 and they just don't have the drivers for the PC what so ever. I have been trying to get this to work on PC for 4 years now without dual modding for years now with no progress.

The thing is I really want a stick to use on PC but I can't think of one to get to get. Thought about the Qanba Q1 but I don't know how good they are. Would a Q1 be worth it?

Hey guys, I'm new to arcade sticks and I need some help.

I have a Wii Fighting Stick and I don't like the fact that the ball stick spins.
I've tried gluing parts to other parts but it still spins
I'm looking at swapping out the joystick with a Happ bat stick but I have never touched one and don't know if it also spins.

My Old NES Jammer didn't spin. The NES advantage didn't spin.
In the end I want something I can use on my Mac so it either has to be USB or connect to a wiimote

Can anyone give some advice?

Edit: Oh and I don't dig the 4 way box restrictor thing. I want something that can move in a circle or at least octagon

It shouldn't be the ball spinning (unless it is so loose it is actually coming off the shaft), but the entire shaft spins freely. I would think anything that would prevent the shaft from spinning would also prevent the shaft from moving at all, which would be no good.

It honestly should not have an impact on your gameplay - you optimally should not be gripping the lever tight enough to spin it unintentionally.

I don't really want to get into the restrictor dead horse, but assuming you mean the Hori Wii stick, I don't think there is an easy way to change the restrictor on that particular lever.

Like I mentioned the Jammer and NES advantage didn't spin but they still worked.
The way I use a stick I use subtle pushes with my thumb or fingers. The spinning totally absorbs that motion. This is why I don't want spinning.

BTW I did fix the square restrictor. I heated up a fireplace poker and melted a round hole where the square hole was :)

Hehe, I guess this is a heated issue for some reason.

Mostly because octo and circle gates actually give you a smaller area to hit diagonals, secondarily because riding the gate is bad for your stick and will shorten its life.

Your custom circle gate, on the other hand, probably doesn't have that problem.

Can you confirm if it's the entire shaft spinning, or if it's the ball alone spinning? If it's the ball alone, you probably need to tighten it; stick a screwdriver into the slot at the bottom of the shaft so you can apply torque to the ball, which is attached on a simple screw thread. It should not be possible to cause the shaft to rotate unintentionally; if it is, the spring on the lever might be worn.

A square restrictor on any lever represents the maximum range of motion before the actuator and microswitches collide. If you widen a square restrictor, you are allowing these components to collide, damaging both.

Just posted this the 2015 sale thread. See it for details.

Yes I can confirm that the entire shaft spins.

Are there replacement sticks out there I can swap in that don't spin?

edit: Here is a wii joystick that doesn't spin.
I opened it up hoping to swap it into my Hori Fighting stick, but it turns out it is connected directly to the circuit board or whatever. It does not have those 4 directional clicky boxes in there. Instead it rides kinda on top of a dome.

I've made enough noise in this thread about octo gates and while it's totally fine if people prefer them, what grinds my goat is when people change it because they feel like they're supposed to. idk why when someone first starts out on stick and hits that first wall they're like "welp I know better than hori better rip this sucker out"

I once thought like you, that octagon was the light and the way.

But it is a false god.

All hail Square Gate, and its mighty Shoryuken.

I would prefer circle actually.

Hey I've been playing since Space Invaders hit my local pizza parlor 36 years ago. I know what works for me. I want something exactly like the Beeshu Jammer for NES. No spinning stick, no walls blocking my smooth motion.

I guess such a thing doesn't exist anymore

God damn I want this. I got a chance to check out the Ultra-branded version the other day and it's really nice. It's very comparable to the Atrox in terms of features. The tool-free opening is a little worse than the Atrox since it doesn't spring open when you press the button and is slightly awkward to pry apart. Aside from that, it's great. The foam padding on the bottom is nice and the solid plastic construction takes care of one of my biggest stick issues- exposed non-stainless steel (usually on the bottom of the stick, but screws and such too) which inevitably rusts. Random tangent- use stainless steel for metal which will make regular contact with human hands, damn it! The bolts on top of the stick as well as the bottom panels got rusty on both my VF high grade and my TE stick :( /rant. Anyway, the removable cord is nice- especially since it's recessed compared with the Atrox so it will be less susceptible to damage (one of my friends Atrox cord ports actually got damaged recently). Price is steep though- decisions, decisons!

I MUST HAVE

The TvC stick I use on PC's power cord shorted out. I guess I have to unplug everything and plug it back into a USB converter, whenever the hell it gets here from China? Everybody gets such fancy sticks and all I can do is put stuff into a Wii stick I got for $20.

ATTENTION: When placing a pre-order, you will be asked for your shipping and billing information. When the product becomes available, it will be processed and shipped automatically. Please note some banks require a pre-authorization of funds for pre-orders placed at store.madcatz.com. Your credit, debit, or pre-paid card will not be charged until the order ships.

But I was just charged the full 200 dollars. Has anybody dealt with Madcatz before? Will that be refunded to me, like, soon? I wasn't expecting a 200 dollar charge right now.

Haven't preordered off MadCatz but that is definitely not standard procedure for like any company that does preorders. Hope it gets amended soon man, that sucks.
