Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Heads up for anyone looking to buy parts, Focus Attack will be having a 15% off sale 10AM-4PM EST today.
Sanwa SDM-18 18mm buttons for Start, Select/Back, and Home
Heh I was just about to ask about those SDM buttons. How do they feel, like the other Sanwas, or completely different? Debating between them and some Radio Shack buttons (like this) for some tiny button stuff. And where'd you buy them? I think I saw them on Paradise Shop but not too many other US shops it seemed.

I am a bit disappointed by the RAP V4.

Wait til you see our PS4 stick.

Not cool man.... not cool...

Other then Injustice, is there even any other fighters on the PS4 or announced other then Gulity Gear Xrd?

I am still hoping for Ultra SF4 on the PS4, SSF4 AE on the pc looks miles better then the 360, ps3 versions imho.

Yatagarasu.

I'm hoping for lots of announcements at e3.

This is going to coincide with the release of a new fighter, right? Which is probably a port of a last gen game. Which may be apart of a year long pro circuit I assume.

Well regardless of that, I'm still looking forward to getting my first PS4 stick. But preferably with a fighter I want to play first.

Got this bad boy in today -

I was gonna plug L2 and R2, but then I realized I could play using a Neo-Geo style layout. I like the position of the stick as well, it's quite comfortable.

This stick makes me wish Sega still produced their own controllers even more now...

Big shoutout to hibachifinal for giving me the heads up on this stick when it was on ebay.

Hey everyone I need some help with korean sticks. So I've had a mad catz se for a long time and its finally started to break I won't mention how. Now I'm looking for a new stick and I kinda set my eyes on a k stick. My question is what prebuilt arcade stick can accommodate a myoungshin fanta as far as housing and how much if any modding will I have to do to fit it in there.(note:I've already looked at my options for prebuilt sticks like the etokki omni ke, the mad catz ke and saulabi also price isn't a problem)

Thanks!

No comment on our future project, sorry guys. Just wanted to point out what I pointed out.

In regards to the previous post about Myoungshin Fanta, there aren't many sticks that will support it out the gate. However you are in luck (if price is no matter), Etokki has the Omni rev. 5 available for preorder (just opened)! - http://etokki.com/Omni-Korean-Edition?filter_name=omni

Hi, I never owned a stick before and now I'm looking to get an entry level one.

Currently looking at 3 choices,
A used Tekken 6 HRAP3
Madcatz WWE Brawl stick (heard it's quite good for a entry stick)
Qanba Q1

any opinions? thanks.

Brawl stick is really easy to mod up if you decide to become a more serious stick user, so that's my recommended stick.
Heard the Qanba Q1 might be better straight out of the box though.
Dunno about the HRAP 3.

Current price of the brawlstick is much more than I payed for just a month ago though (on amazon), so I dunno if it's a good idea to go for it right now when it was much cheaper earlier.

hmm... I looked at the used list and there's one with the panel art removed going for $49.99..

any other suggestions for a good and cheap entry level stick that is decent? The local scene here in Asia suggested me to get a Qanba Q4 but thats way out of my budget at MYR500(USD170~) plus local prices here are quite crazy as it's a niche item. Importing from Amazon might be cheaper for me so I'm looking at choices.

edit: So after calculating all the shipping fees and taxes, it came out to be around MYR280($90 USD). A local store is selling Qanba q2 for MYR380($125) and the Qanba q4 for MYR450($150)..

Is it worth it to get the Qanba q2 or should I go with the Brawl stick?

There's actually this super cheap Exaprize KOFXII stick which goes for MYR95 (USD30).. but I heard it's a "rebranded Mayflash stick" which is crap and hard to mod the buttons and stick.

If you're going to mod anyways then I'd suggest the Brawl stick if you can find it for cheap enough, but I can't say anything about the Qanba's cause I don't know enough about them. I hear they're good though, so just do some research into them and see if they'd be a better fit for your situation.

Alternatively you could buy the parts (which you'd get anyway if you modded) and stick it in your own box of some sort. Like a solid cardboard box can work surprisingly well, or find a cheap plastic or wood box to drill into. The reason I'd lean away from this is that a good controller board like the PS360+ (~$60) can cost just as much as something like the Brawl stick (although there are cheaper solutions), so it's not like you always end up saving a huge amount (but depending on the board you may have much more system compatibility).

Yeah the mounting for the Myoungshin Fanta's aren't friendly with the mass market sticks, that's why there is the Crown option (though obviously not the same).

Speaking of Crown, new series of models currently in the works... They will be closer to that of the 305 models instead of the 303 N/G and FK/A models.

Thanks for mentioning the focusattack sale. I bought two sets of PS360+ with black wiring harness. Came out to $72.xx each set. I have a Madcatz TE, Madcatz SE, and Hori HRAP SE that i can put it in for now. I figure its good to have two just in case I ever get a kraylix...planning to buy all new furniture for my bedroom first before i can consider a cabinet.

Hopefully they can figure out Xbox One support.

Gotta a stick problem, gaf. My stick's LT and RT buttons do strange things when I try to use it on a 360. Like, the buttons are in auto turbo mode on character select screens but dont work at all in an actual match.

But this is just on 360. On PC, the buttons work fine. No problems at all. Anyone hear anything like this before?

The stick is one of these.

Do any lights flash on the control panel when you are pressing them? You might have turned on auto fire for those buttons by accident.

I don't know if any of you guys have instagram, but somebody (I think focusattack) is starting a #fightstickfriday hashtag. Getting to see some pretty cool sticks.

Here's my post for the day:

I use instagram quite a bit. Username is arcadestick. Anybody feel free to follow me. I know I've already got a lot of you. I do a lot of arcade stick stuff but definitely mix on other gaming and likes as well (beware!).

Anyone know what focusattack.com's policy is on wrong items? I ordered a Seimitsu LS32 during the sale, got a Sanwa JLF instead. Hopefully I won't have to pay for return shipping?

I have the Hori umvc3 stick for ps3 and wondering how hard it would be to put in the akishop ps360+ and change the art. Doesn't seem to be that much info on modding this stick

I'm sure you won't have to pay for return shipping. That's just bad business to charge a customer for an error.

I can't go back to ball top now that I'm used to bat top. Problem is I can't find a clear matching bat top for my custom stick. First world problems.

Closest thing is the Crown CWJ-303-N/FK bat tops. They are clear layer over white/black/red.

Focus Attack stuff came in and did a uh, rapid prototype (if you can call it that) of what I'm planning on doing:
Actually have room on the side panel for the other two trigger buttons...but didn't plan on that (originally thought of the 18-20mm buttons for select/start) so I don't have two more 24mm buttons to stick there for now. Tempted to look into 30mm balltops and short shaft just to match the scale of the box/buttons but I don't know how that'd feel to play with.

Technically I could fit a bit more on the face of this box but for the real design I'm planning on thicker side walls so that'd negate putting more on the face without widening the whole thing. (And this was meant to be a Sega Astro layout but eyeballing it and making X shaped cuts for holes didn't work out too well)

Oh I got the Kowal JLF actuator replacement too. Haven't actually been able to play a game yet, but in just messing with the stick itself (I put one on my Astro and one on here) it feels nice. Best I can describe is that it kind of feels in between a Sanwa and Seimitsu now, like it feels a bit stiffer and has some of the snappy feel of a Seimitsu but still feels smoother like a Sanwa, if that makes any sense. It reduces the throw too, which is the main reason why I got it, although I'm not sure whether I'd still prefer more or not yet. Supposedly it reduces/eliminates the deflection back to center too, not a huge deal (unless you're losing control a lot) but nice to have just in case I guess.

Have any of you who have been to tournaments recently know the answer: Are modders showing up regularly who can mod 360 sticks to One in person? Also, how much am I looking to spend? (just so i can bring cash handy)

General question, might be random, but the VLX is super hollow sounding. It doesn't bother me, but if I could put something in there to make it sound less hollow, that would be great. Anybody have ideas or suggestions? Somebody said bricks of Styrofoam, but I'd be worried about that breaking up and getting in stuff.
