Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Any word when we'll get info on what the Capcom Cup TE2 bonus will be? hoping to figure out what to do about pre-ordering shortly.

It won't be announced until the event. Also, we are pre-sold out of the regular USF4 PS4/PS3 stick anyways. The special Capcom Cup promo will be in extremely limited quantities so make sure you watch this weekend!

That's the plan. Thanks.

One more question if you don't mind. Will the non-licensed artwork one be coming out in the US after the special licensed ones sell out?

I actually like that one best, and am hoping it shows up on Amazon like the red Xbox One stick did.

hey markman my order for the ps3/ps4 USF4 TE2 says pending fulfillment does that mean im going to get one when u send them out or im going to be ass out and wait.

Mine says pending fulfillment as well, but they also sent a notice that they billed me today. Err nevermind I misread my email. The charge did show up on my credit card though.

Did you preorder it today? They pre-authorize your card immediately.

I messed around with my HRAP V Hayabusa a bit. I like it. I think I'll keep it stock too. The Hayabusa stick lever does feel similar enough to the Seimitsu LS-40, and I was able to play Crimzon Clover and KOF XIII with ease. The Kuro buttons are also really nice. Hori nails that middle ground between a Sanwa and Seimitsu perfectly. Not too stiff, not too soft, not to rickety. I really like the size of the case too. Just a bit smaller than a last gen RAP VX, but big enough to accommodate real arcade parts.

But...

Do the LT/RT buttons not register for anyone else when plugged into a PC?

I ordered it early last week. Hard to tell from Madcatz website, they don't give you a whole lot of control over your order.

If it does get back ordered, hopefully they give us the option to either cancel or switch the order to one of the other sticks.

Hey MarkMan, I have a question:

I used to have a Hori DoA4 stick with cheap parts that I replaced with my awesome Madcatz SF4TE stick.

But now I've been reading that Hori's new sticks and buttons are awesome, the stick is supposedly better than the sanwa and the buttons are just as good (and last forever, allegedly) so I'm wondering if Madcatz are designing their own "next-gen" custom sticks and buttons, or if you guys are sticking with Sanwa's
(very solid)
offerings?

Personally, I'd like a stick and buttons that make less noise when pressed.

You can buy silent buttons and stick.

Hayabusa stick (the hori one) is all preference (I love it), as are the buttons (I hate them).

We will eventually release the Mad Catz version in the US, we just don't have a concrete date at this time.

we haven't oversold them, so you should be okay. they should be shipping out tomorrow (I'm going to the warehouse to make sure we receive them and they go out as well), so you'll hear from us very soon.

as skilletor mentioned, it was just pre-authorization, the money won't be taken out and you should see it back in your card soon.

As mentioned by skilletor (again!), there are silent parts available that fit right in to most arcade stick offerings. We are sticking with Sanwa btw, it is the standard for a reason. The only thing we can do is ensure that the mod experience is the best.

Has anyone been charged yet? I ordered back in October and was immediately charged but looking through my bank statement I guess that charge dropped off.

My fear is that I did all my Christmas shopping online this weekend and my checking account was pretty low yesterday before I moved money from savings and they could have tried to charge me then. I don't want to be knocked off the list to receive a TE2 this week because of that.

That was the authorization charge that madcatz did. The money would have been back in your account within 3-5 business days. They will charge you for the stick when it ships.

That's such a bizarre way to process a credit card. I would think doing it that way would incur more transaction fees on MadCatz's end?

I don't believe there is a fee charged to the company doing a hold and many companies do this. It is just a test to see if you have the funds to cover the purchase. Gas stations do this all the time. Since there is no money being transferred I don't see a fee being applied to the company.

And even if there is a small fee would you rather pay 5 cents to check it or charge someone 50 dollars (in the case of a gas station) and have them drive away while they actually have no money In their bank.

Except it isn't a hold. They're actually taking the money, then refunding it immediately.

Maybe with a debit card they do that, I'm not sure how that works. On my credit card it shows up as a pending charge and isn't added to the balance of my card. Until it moves from pending to my balance the company is not getting paid and I'm not getting charged. No money moves hands whatsoever.

Would you guys recommend the PS3/4 Mad Catz sticks?

http://store.madcatz.com/platforms/...htStick-Tournament-Edition-2-for-PS4-PS3.html

They seem SUPER pricey. I don't remember paying this much for my SF4 TE stick on 360.

Oh, also is the default button layout different depending on your stick? If I got the Persona one would it be ready to go for Street Fighter with default controls, or would I have to switch them around?

SF4 stick when it came out was 150. It wasn't nearly as customizable as the TE2.

You can buy the RAP4 for 150. Myself, I hate the cases for those sticks. I bought a TE2 and can't wait.

200 bucks is normal for a good stick.

SF4 and P4 sticks are default layout. Not sure that Xrd TE2 is the default "stick" layout, as that is extremely different from the default pad layout.

Thanks very much for the info. Maybe I'll go for the Persona one then.

With the customizable face plates, is there info somewhere about how to do it? Like a template you can use in photoshop and some suggestions for where/how/what kind of thing to print it on?

I have the non-persona-branded version of that stick. It's expensive because it's super nice (detachable cord, tool-free opening, padded bottom, should strap hooks, very easy to change stick art, etc.). Worth it if you can afford it.

Hmmm. I can, but would it be wise to wait for a sale? Do they have them often? I mean, I don't have many games to play with it yet...

Most of my fighting games last gen were bought on 360.

Can't you just buy a Hori RAP4 and build a wooden case of your own? That's what my friends used to do back in the PS2 days.

I think there's a blank template there.

Sure, you could build a wooden case. Buy a PS4 pad, wire that. Depending on your woodworking and soldering skills, it sounds like a lot of effort when you could just buy two RAP4s for 300 bucks. :P

The pad alone would cost you 60, anyway, not taking into account the cost of the wood and labor.

Or you could get a stick you currently own padhacked by somebody like Gummo on SRK. You could buy a wooden case from somebody like Foehammer (I have several), and wire a stick yourself.

Tons of options out there. :)

I'm sure they'll be on sale at some point- it's a question of whether you have an immediate need for one (like you wanna play Xrd right now). Last gen, the default fighting game machine was 360 (a few exceptions aside), but this gen it's ps4 all the way (Xrd, SFV fully exclusive) unless you're interested in Killer Instinct.

Yeah. I guess I'll wait until closer to Ultra's release on PS4. Maybe there will be a sale in the meantime.

They seem exactly the same... look at the images, the button are named in the exact same order for all sticks.

Getting the Guilty gear myself as the colors seem better and will mod the art and buttons anyway.

Is there any place where you can download customized fight stick art templates that other people have made in Photoshop? I see that megathread on Shoryuken but that seems like it's for people proficient in Photoshop to show off their work as the resolution is too small to print. I was curious if people shared the actual PSDs of their artwork for whoever wanted to print and use.

I haven't used Photoshop in years and I gave up after about three hours of trying to make some art for the TE2 template.

I'm testing out the new XBONE stick. It has a toggle switch, but all that does is disable the 4th and 8th button (which are LB & LT). It doesn't help. It's very odd since the Hori control pad I got along with the stick works 100%.

I should probably plug this thing into the actual XBONE at some point to make sure that those buttons work at all. Maybe I just got a bum unit. Do the triggers do anything on the dashboard? I don't have any games that are compatible with a stick.

I got the Hori XB1 stick yesterday as well. Fine peace of work for a reasonable price. :)

I tested it on XB1 and PC. For Some odd reason the PC only recognized 6 buttons (top 4 and bottom 2), so i couldnt test it on USF4 PC.

Did you have this problem as well or did your PC recognize all 8 buttons? I installed the normal XBOX ONE drivers for PC (x64 version).

Hmm, OK that's confirmation. Mine had the same issue. I opened it up, and swapped the wires of the top 4th, and the bottom 3rd buttons, and have a fully functional Street Fighter-ready stick. It's a bummer that they come out of the box gimped.

Which Windows version are you using? I tested mine on Win 8.1 (64-bit).

So what's the latest on the Razer Atrox vs MadCatz Tournament Edition 2 situation? The Atrox doesn't seem to have much mindshare, but I'm not sure if that's just a marketing thing or some actual product issue.

This seems to be a thing for all Xbox One fight sticks from Razer/Hori/MadCatz unfortunately. Microsoft drive issue maybe?

What do you mean by situation? I have both sticks (all iterations) so if there any questions, I can glady answer them.

Just general opinions on pro/cons of each.

I can go in depth on this all day. There are a ton of differences between the two but I firmly believe that they both warrant the $200 price tag.

That being said, if you compare it to the original Mad Catz TE that came out in 2009 at $150 and the VS Stick that came out in 2012 for $200. This is a definite upgrade as far as attention to detail, usability and longevity (modding/repair). It also (the TE2 at least) has an unparalleled level of aesthetic mod potential compared to any mass market stick right now.

Random questions:
- Enough internal depth for Sanwa RG or OBS buttons?
- Enough internal depth for IL Magstick or Suzo Universal?
- How's the top panel thickness with Seimitsu snap-in buttons, especially the PS-15? (Atrox 360 edition's top panel is juuust too thick to use with Seimitsu snap-ins)
- Are all TE2 plexi inserts this multi-piece thing? (I tried a friend's TE2 for a few minutes and the loose, floaty feel of the very thin plexi insert bothered the shit out of me)
- Any news on more black-sided TE2s other than the Killer Instinct and Guilty Gear editions? (The red/blue situation needs to go...)
- What's the part number and/or interface type for the screw-on USB cable? (I like to build my own cables and have no problem with breaking out the Mouser/Digikey catalog and a solder iron)

I'm more of a SHMUP/STG guy, so the usual JLF/OBSF combo is of no interest to me...

I still don't understand how changing the art works on the TE2. I remember you saying before the Killer Instinct TE2 stick launched that you can change artwork without removing the buttons and balltop. How is that physically possible?

Same. I watched one vid (I didn't search very hard for a tutorial, just watched the first one that popped up), and the person took off the balltop and had to unscrew a bunch of stuff to get it done.

Referring to that second link I recently saw an old Eventhubs article you commented on where you said you would float the idea of USF4 TE2 artwork for individual characters to Capcom like the ones available for KI. It's been awhile so I figured nothing came of it but I was wondering if you had an update?

Just watched the videos. It looks like any other stick where you have to remove the balltop and buttons in order to change the artwork. I remember you saying before the TE2 launched that you would be able to swap out the art without removing the buttons somehow. Was that concept scrapped? I never understood how it could have been possible anyway.

so reposting myself from GGXrd thread since im still looking for ideas

Im still trying to figure out what to do with my stick situation.

I have an arcade cabinet with 2 player setup using Chimp boards from Godlike controls. These run into a PS3 with BB and P4AU on it. I want to just put a PS4 in the cabinet as well and put GGX on it, but of course no stick support because sony sucks.

I could rewire the controls using DS4 boards which would be incredibly painful but should work, though I dont want to break compatibility with my PS3 or spend any more money... I know wired DS4 works for a lot on PS3 but still...Godlike control boards are so fucking great I hate that sony blocked them (and everything else) out on PS4 so much

Did you get rid of your PS3? If not, have you considered getting Xrd on that platform instead?
