Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Check your emails, after it cleared my cart and I replaced the order. The screen did the spin again but I did get an order confirmation email. Also shows up in my order history.

I'm not with my web team/web store team cuz I'm stuck in Vegas for CES, but please be patient. There is a huge amount of traffic on our site right now. We sold 10 within the first minute of the link going live. If there are any questions you can try contacting our team as well.

Oh, I got a confirmation!...but still haven't passed the place order screen.

Nothing - and I had it in my cart at 3pm on the button.

Just got an "Internal Error" message after 15 minutes.

Finally got an error, and no email and nothing in history.

Nothing here yet, I would have gotten my order in the first 30 seconds if the cart page hadn't kept automatically bumping my quantity up and not letting me change it to 1.

Bummer. I added it the second it went live too.

No error yet, but I think I will be in the same boat as you. At 2:59 I refreshed and the joystick wasn't there, and then refreshed 5 seconds later it appeared and I was able to add to the cart. Tried to get through the ordering process as quick as possible. Guess I'm SOL.

Update: It is sold out. Finally got an error saying insufficient quantity.

This is so fucking bullshit.

I would have had the damn stick if the site wasn't so fucked. Came up with an out of stock message while sitting at payment placed page.

And.... Now sold out after I got the spinny of death, twice.

So yeah Mark, about making more of these things with the black sides. Got any plans for those? I know you want the Noir as a panel-only, but there'd be many takers for an all-black(ish) Noir stick.

Ha - I just called the support line and they told me it's due to the web team making updates to the website.

Anyway, been trying to checkout since 3pm and just got another message saying it's now out of stock.

Really sucks - your web shop needs a serious overhaul. It just sucks. This same scenario happen to my friend trying to get the P4 stick (regarding the process) :-(

Thanks for the heads up on the stick tho! :-)

Sigh.

Guess I'll just have to try my luck with the USF4 restock.

Well, I think there seems to be a lot of demand for the black-sided base than colored ones. Maybe not so much for the Xrd branding. Hopefully they make more models with it, and not just extra side panels to sell as those would be an extra $20+ likely.

At least it wasn't the vague "internal error" message I got twice.

They would be serving their customers better if they sold them through Amazon if they can't get their website to handle something like this. Really lame.

Sorry, I'm just venting. >_<

While you were checking out, the operator of this business changed the price or availability of the shipping method you selected. Please check that your shipping method is still available, or select another below and press the null button again to place the changed order.

first time when the page went live. then going back to the store page it showed this.

Price: undefinedNaN

second time just didn't say anything
third time was a timeout message

I actually got a message once saying to click the null button and try again.

...Wut?

At one point I had 133 in my cart because the field kept going bonkers and changing the number I entered.

I don't mind getting beaten to the punch, but getting all sorts of crazy behavior and page errors is really frustrating.

I have to agree. If I could get some I'd just remove the Xrd art and put in my own black blank that I can cover with random stickers.

I have to agree on this one. Why MadCatz doesn't do like Hori does with their Amazon.jp exclusives, I have no idea. Or hell, just host use Amazon's/PayPal's back-end for their site and payment processing for that matter. (I work in IT/datacenter back-end infrastructure for a living...)

Sorry guys. I'll be contacting who I need to, to see if we can make more that way everyone will be happy.

Edit:
Just saw this one SRK where someone emailed Hori about their US plas for the DOA5LR stick, and this was their response:

"In regards, unfortunately we do not have plans of releasing this product here in the US. However, we will be releasing a newly designed model of the PS4/PS3 Real Arcade Pro Hayabusa in February which also features a touch pad."

Hm, I was gonna try for the Xrd one today, as I prefer MadCatz, but I may have to wait and see as a lot of these products seem to be in flux.

Hm... I just ordered a HRAP V4 yesterday, and it's arriving tomorrow... If they're actually coming out with a remodel in a month, should I just return it and wait? I feel kinda dumb for jumping on it now.

I might as well ask this now too, but should I consider a MadCatz TE2 instead? I sort of impulse bought the Hori since it temporarily came back in stock yesterday, but now that I'm looking into things more, I'm not so sure. This will be the first stick I'm buying myself, since I've been using some old Hori Tekken LE PS2 sticks for the last year.

Bummed I was stuck on the spinny thing of death for 20 mins only to get an out of stock message after placing my order exactly 12pm. Oh well.

I wonder how many of these are going to pop up on ebay with a $350 price tag later this week.

Does anyone know if there are going to be any other PS4 sticks coming out anytime soon from other companies besides MC and Hori?

After being burned 2 times trying to get a GGXrd stick from MC I'd rather not try to get lucky with a USF4 stick (I don't really like the blue sides either) and with the Hori getting some flack for their new parts I'd prefer to take my business elsewhere.

I've always enjoyed their arcade sticks, but the more business I do with madcatz over the years, the smaller of a company I think they are.

the website has always been cumbersome and could never handle a lot of traffic. I also think that they produce products in very low quantities. I think markman's comment about 10 sticks sold in the first minute speaks volumes about what the company can and can't handle. 10 products sold in one minute is really not very many at all.

EDIT:
FYI - this is not a jab at Markman or madcatz, just my guess based on experiences and observations.

Well it might not be useful but a Korean company IST Solution has their Makestick Pro models with a PS3/PS4 switch-based PCB and a version with Dual Shock 4 pad hack. Too bad they are not selling them internationally atm. Even if they did, shipping prices suck.

I wouldn't be surprised if PDP or another company does a stick for MKX but I would expect MK layout.

You can always padhack.

For Hori though, the only complaints I really hear are the Kuro buttons and they are from people who would only buy Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons. The Kuros feel fine to me especially when broken in; Just as good as Sanwa OBSF-30s.

Don't think "people who would only buy..." is a fair comment. I have two fighting edges. I have played on two different sets of kuros since I received them and think they're terrible buttons. I don't know how long it takes to break them in, but I've had these sticks over a year now (much longer for my black fighting edge), and they still squeak and stick.

Also doesn't take into account that the critiques I see are for just the buttons. Almost everybody loves the Hayabusa (I have bought 3 additional sticks myself...put one in a VLX, one in an empty case and another is going in my TE2).

They're definitely YMMV, but definitely not because "people would only want sanwa or seis..."

Buy a Hori fightstick, replace the buttons (if you don't like them). They stick is amazing.

Yeah I have been buying sticks from them since the great resurgence of '09. I haven't had as many problems trying to get a stick as I have recently. I understand that the stick market is still pretty niche but these things are obviously selling crazy amount since they are always sold out constantly. I would think that they would enlarge their production since it is not as small an audience for sticks as there was before. Not being able to meet demand just invites more and more scalpers to come and load up on these things for profit which is only going to hurt the consumer and turn off some people looking to dive into purchasing a stick without pre ordering weeks in advance (which run pretty quickly too).

I owned a black Fighting Edge when released and never had those problems since day one. I also bought a separate set of buttons and only had sticking for a couple of days. Maybe I press hard and the problems never come into play but after using it.

Personally though I would just put Gamer Finger HBFS-30s to every stick I have.

Finally!!! I got it

After some P4A testing it feels so unusual, no more accidental jumps, but it will take time to get used to how to jump properly after D-pads, same with right hand position, but at the end Im HAPPY!!

About to pull the trigger on this, but I want one for below $200 shipped. Can't seem to find one for that price.

I understand your post but you really need to think about the bigger picture when it comes to bringing products to market. Mad Catz has never been big when it comes to direct sales through our website. A majority of our sales are through retail/etail establishments.

Also keep in mind we pre-sold out of these orders (which we make thousands of at times). So honestly, your comment about my comment doesn't speak volumes to me really. That's why I wanted to reply.

I'm just glad these sticks are selling so well. Where are my ps4 madcatz VS and hori fightingedges :-D

MarkMan, when should these 2nd batch of xrd sticks ship?

I mentioned this a few posts ago, but I'm returning mine (unopened) tomorrow, so maybe Amazon will put it back up soon (it was $145 when I got it on Amazon US). I decided to wait for the possible previously mentioned redesigned stick in February since I don't even have Guilty Gear yet (and because I think I should take some time to decide between a Hori and a Madcatz TE2).

The redesigned stick in Feb is going to be the DoA:LR stick:

So, since missing out on the Xrd stick, I guess I'm keeping an eye on what that supposed Hori RAPv4 update will be. I've got a brand new set of Sanwa buttons I took out of a previous 360/PS3 stick after buying it, so I can replace the Kuros. Heard good things about the Hayabusa.

I'll be keeping an eye on what these MadCatz branded TE2 productions coming will look like. Hopefully they ditch the blue sides for black as that seems to be what people prefer.

Also waiting to see what the cronusmax people have cooking as they said they have a new product coming out or being announced this month sometime. I'm happy with the current one for the XOne. If it's the same as the current model, but with two USB ports so the PS4 controller stays connected all the time for the 10 second authentication checks, it should work. I don't go to tourneys, so that would be worth the savings for me.

Maybe it's for the best I missed out.

Cant believe I missed my shot here, by the time I get a stick I'm gonna be a master dpad warrior on GG.

Markman, save me...

Sorry, we will open up preorders for the MCZ version and USF4 one soon.

I'm just glad these sticks are selling so well. Where are my ps4 madcatz VS and hori fightingedges :-D

If the order clears, they'll ship tomorrow.

Waaait, I thought all of the TE2s were made by madcatz? I'm confused. (Clearly I'm new at this whole fight stick thing)

There are branded TE2s (GGXrd, USF4, P4A), and plain MadCatz TE2s with no game branding.

When somebody says a MCZ TE2, they want one with game specific branding. :)
