Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Has anyone tried the Madcatz TE2 PS4 model on PC? The last Mad Catz stick I got lagged horribly on PC, and since that may end up my primary platform for SF5- I want to know if I need to worry about it, because it looks nice (will prob wait for sale if I can though)

I bought some of those cherry switches from paradise arcade, and lots of them don't work. Seems like the button is constantly pressed in.

Pretty shitty, and I guess they won't be able to respond to emails for a week or two. :(

Can't tell how many don't work. At least 3, and I bought 12.

Are u sure u didn't wire them in wrong? They are dipole switches aren't they? Dipswitches aren't very high tech items it rare to find failure from new

They came presoldered. All I had to do was plug them in and connect the QDs. Not much room for error on my end.

Just got my Rivals stick in the mail, did a quick video and unboxing
How long did it take to ship? I ordered one from MadCatz and they charged me right away, but still haven't shipped or updated the order status.

Edit: Apparently they put a hold on my order to make sure it was fraudulent.

Finally finished modding my Venom Arcade Stick for PS4. Im really satisfied with the result:

Used a LS-58 Seimitsu stick with octo gate, 6x Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons and 2x Seimitsu (dont know the exact type) buttons.

I bought the PS4 TE2 at Evo and have been using it on my PS4 and PC with no issues on either system.

I used to use a TE-S on my PC before and I haven't noticed anything different between it and my new TE2.

looks nice! why the mismatched button types? i guess the last two don't matter anyway.

HRAP4 Kai impressions:
Wow, the stick has no resistance at all. I am not sure how I feel about it so far. It will take time to adjust, because the resistance on my SA guides my execution.

Still, I played two hours of Xrd without serious issues. Double tapping is much faster, though, and my Eddie sandwich strings are more precise than ever. This makes me think it will be a good change overall.

The buttons are definitely harder to press in, but it hasn't messed up my execution yet. Pianoing took a bit more effort, and I wonder if my hands might become more tired sooner as a result of the Kuros. I am less excited about the buttons, and I might swap those out. I will at least give them through the SFV beta to feel them out. It might just be a period of adjustment.

While I tend ot be okay with the stock Hayabusa, it's a lot more loose than the Seimitsu's I'm used to, maybe even a bit more loose than a JLF. Putting a 2lb JLF spring into it helps a lot.

The Kuros are, as has been much talked about, a love or hate. I gave them a lot of time but they still feel like Sanwa to me in how sensitive they can be, while being slightly more resistive at the same time. I swapped mine out for Seimitsu PS-14-GNs and couldn't be happier. I pretty much cannot stand OSBFs, but if I gotta I gotta.

thanks! couple of reasons: i think it looks better, and for SF you only need 6 though, so the design make sense i think. but the biggest reason: my arcade parts dealer only got 6 white ones to sell :D

They actually delayed the order because they thought it might be a fraudulent order. I had to call into customer service, but once I did they shipped it out. I live relatively close to their location so I got it within a day.

What theme are you going for? Femme Fatale remake?

No, like I said in the video I'm going to base it off my Egret II. This is he near final art I'm going to use

Ive used it fairly extensively on the PC version of USF4, didn't detect any issues at all. I did notice sometimes that if you leave it idol too long it will sometimes desync from the PC and you'll have to restart the game though.

Mad Catz just posted up some accessories for the TE2 sticks!

Just bought some LED pcbs

Oof.

I loved my TE1, I am ecstatic at the ease of customization and options on the TE2, but that no touchpad input issue D :

What are the odds that USF4 gets patched with a work around for TE2 and other sticks w/out a touchpad or TE2 getting a revision? It's the one thing keeping me from just plunging in...

Hey Duders, I recently go back into fighting games, namely USF4 on PC and am currently rocking my old 360 cheapo hori-stick. With SFV on the horizon and USF4 on PS4 reportedly being the definitive edition, I've planned to invest in a new stick that can be used on both PS4 as well as PC. PC because I plan on playing Killer Instinct too once that is released on the platform.

The thing is, I live in Switzerland and the market for Fightsticks is kinda dry here. At this point I am sure there is absolutely not a single PS4 fightstick in the country. Are there other EuroGafers who had similar problems? What are the best sites to import through?

Secondly, would you recommend waiting for the release of SFV before looking for a new stick? I am not planning on getting into modding and the release of the game might produce a new wave of widely marketed and sold arcade sticks.

Thanks!

I disconnected everything from the buttons but the cherry switch and the QDs, and it's still acting the same. The console thinks the button is being held down.

:(

Edit: Yeah, I unplug the QDs, plug them in, it DOES press the button and never releases. There is nothing attached to the cherry switch now, it's not pressed in, so I don't know wtf is wrong with this thing.

Easy way is to get an RAP4 Kai that is just due back in stock at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/aw/d/B00RZ7T8N6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1437582970&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=hori+kai&dpPl=1&dpID=41tZmIQT4sL&ref=plSrch

It's been unavailable for months, and stock is usually sucked up in a few days, so be quick if you want one.

I was on the fence because I'm accustomed to Sanwa parts on my RAP3 and instead here you have (premium) Hori parts, but it should be anyway one of the best sticks for Ps4 at the moment and the easier/cheaper to get.

The Kai has also lever and buttons more spaced out in respect to the standard Vewlix/RAP/Madcatz layout, and I usually find that's more comfortable, like e.g. on the Dreamcast stick.

damn dude, that really sucks to hear. I haven't even tested mine because i was waiting for some parts to come in, but now I feel I really should test them out.

It's either a bad pcb or it may have to do with the soldering connection between the mx switch and the pcb. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's the latter, when I came in to pick up a set, they told me to talk to the dudes on the side who were still putting them together right there. I was a little shocked these were not ready before EVO because they should test each button before they go out but nope. I was extremely disappointed in how their booth was run.

I was going to suggest posting in their thread on SRK but I think you did. Anyways, I'll test mine out and post feedback here if they work.

Yeah, I posted over there. I'm sure it'll get taken care of. They were cool dudes, but definitely a but disorganized.

Thanks man! Through Amazon the import tax will most likely kill me but I'll consider it! Thanks again.

Since CPT will switch over to the PS4 version of Ultra, and many players play on Madcatz sticks, I think there is a good chance for a patch that remedies this.

Wow, sounds like I may have dodged a bullet there. I was going to buy some on Friday, but they weren't ready yet, and then on Saturday, they said they were delayed until August. Hopefully they'll work out the kinks and I'll still pick up a set. Otherwise, I'm perfectly happy with my GamerFingers.

So did we all figure out which version of Ultra Street Fighter IV works best yet? Did the the PS4 version ever patch away the problems? I want to buy but I don't know which version to test out my VLX stick on.

Love the little touches to this TE2. Being able to just pop it open to futz with things is really nice.
The only reason I went back to the Atrox, believe it or not, is that I hate the te2 screw-in cable. What a pain compared to the Atrox, especially since they recessed it in that small area.

Also thought the bezel design looked a little clunky. Other than that, the feel of the te2 is fantastic. Very solid.

It is taking some getting used to. The raised edge feels kinda funky when resting my hands on it, and the stick motions, while feeling much better than my last stick, do feel odd for me. It feels, looser? Basic Balrog combo into headbutt to Ultra was harder to pull off for some reason. E Ryu combos as well. I used to own a TE1 and loved it. Sold that to help pay for a new GPU and along the way, got one of those cheapy sticks. So I'm having to adjust again.

The screw in part for the cable is actually a plus for me. That's the exact point that my last cable started busting up and would cause disconnects. Not that I'll be unscrewing it much, but it being recessed also lessens the chance of that reoccurring. This one is also much heavier than the cheapy, and combine that with the tackier feeling bottom...it's nearly perfect for me. No goofy artwork, as I'm not into that, and solid feeling parts again. Now to get up the courage to swap out the buttons for the quieter ones I normally use.

Wow, I just set mine up in a TE2 and 2 of the 8 I got just don't work. YAY EARLY ADOPTING!

I'm sure I could try to desolder and put it back together but eff that.

Man, please chime in if you have any cable issues cuz well...you know. This sounds horrible but I hope the narrative that Atrox is unreliable continues, that way I can find one on the cheap lol.

Honest question, should I just buy a TE2, mod my Eightarc Onyx with a PS4 PCB, or hope that Street Fighter V works with PS3 sticks?

If you are only interested in SFV and don't care about any other fighters, it just makes sense to wait in your situation. A lot can happen between now & next year.

Thinking about switching out the Hayabusa stick on my Hori to a Sanwa. For some reason I was having a bunch of trouble last night hitting fireball motions to one side, which never really gives me trouble. It was late, and I think I might have had it on my lap too close to me and was shifting at an angle due to being lighter and shallower. I love the stick's features, but the Horis really could use a deeper base. If Mad Catz puts a touchpad on their SFV sticks I'll probably pick one up.

The Mad Catz Fightstick Pro/SFxT base is still my favorite. If they put out some SFV sticks with that shell, I'm all over it.

I checked out the previous OP, googled it, and searched the shoryuken forums, but didn't find an answer to this question. Maybe someone here can explain, or point me to a resource that answers it.

What's the reasoning a stick with a USB connection can't be compatible with any system/game with button customization? Why can't I plug my 360 TE2 into a PS4 and play USF4 with it?

Will Cowboy's stick software code make future games with that code compatible with any USB stick?

cause console makers want money.

also iirc it has something to do with the differences between Xinput (360/X1/PC) and Directinput (PS3/4/PC). 360/X1 won't recognize directinput devices, ps systems won't see xinput, but pc can see and map both

The Hori RAP4 isnt gonna get much lower than $149, right?

I just bought it off Amazon and used that justification for getting it now. I dont know if its ever been on sale or how much lower it can go. I know SFV is Mar 2016, and Madcatz is coming out with stuff on release so perhaps competition can drive prices down, but I just couldn't wait and convinced myself to get it.

If it drops to $120 or lower I'm gonna be hurricane kicking myself

This was funny. They were walking around the t7 booth putting Harada signatures on all of their sticks. They thought mine belonged to th booth.

I got so many shirts and hoodies. Some kid robot sf figures. Good times.

Nice, I got the same balltop & battop! For some reason I thought they would have some weight to it because they are wood, but they are really light.

Post pics of the shirts & hoodies too! but put an arcade stick in the shot so it stays on topic lol.

As soon as I saw that Heihachi head I was like "did this dude steal a T7 stick?" lol

I like that wood balltop a lot. I got the same one but I dunno what to do with it. It'd work well on my all-black and my Poison stick but I'm so conflicted. Should have gotten two D:

Didn't buy too much else at EVO. Just some pins, a shirt, and some art. And of course I have the T7 shirt.

Yes it will. Did he put in a Sanwa joystick or only buttons? I would hope for that price he replaced the joystick, in which case it's a good deal depending on condition.

just asked him, it´s both the buttons and the joystick. thing is, another friend wants to get rid of his too and he has the tournament edition. This black, red and white thing if you know which one i mean. I read it already has sanwa parts and is big bigger. Dont know what to do from here on :D

I'm seconding this. Also did I hear on the Tekken stream that you won't be a part of MadCatz come next year
chansub-global-emoticon-f6c13c7fc0a5c93d-36x30.png
Mark leaving MadCatz wouldn't surprise me, since MadCatz might not even exist next year. They're doing very poorly financially and are basically banking on rock band 4 being a success, going as far as to take loans to finish producing the controllers for it. Seems like a huge risk.

I'd say if you want a Madcatz stick you should probably get one before the end of the year.

lol. Yeah. I tried to tell the dude doing it that it was my stick, but I don't think he spoke English very well.

The balltops are nice, and I have several wooden customs that they'd match better with, but I'm not using dual mods much anymore and I want to use them. :/

I put the one from last year on my wife's (:D :D) j. scott campbell case:

Really ties it off nice.

Funny/not funny story: My sticks always work at home and locally. I have tons of dual modded sticks, wired with different boards, and they ALWAYS WORK at home. EVERY SINGLE YEAR that I've taken a dual modded stick to EVO, it has not worked. This year, I played my first match of SF, lost (to Hamad, SUPER good Fei), then go to play my next match and the console won't recognize the stick. Had to borrow the judge's stick, and then a friend loaned me one.

profound sadness.

Congrats btw

Just curious, are you from CO? A friend of mine went to EVO a day early to attend his friend from CO's wedding. It be funny if it was yours lol
