Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

So wait.

PS4 TE2's and I would assume TE2+ and TES+ also have the xb1 stick issue of RT and LT not working on PC?

So I have to rewire it on the ps4 sticks too!?

https://twitter.com/MadCatz/status/646029111748509696

I just sold my atrox xb1 stick because of this same issue...

Like, if I'm gonna have to pull out wires and shit just to use a normal 6 button layout on PC I'd like to know before hand so I don't bother ordering one of these new sticks. I'll just grab a 360 one or something.

Guys need some help choosing a stick for my PS4. Would this be the a good way to go? What other options are there? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=301853033128&alt=web

I'll let others comment on the quality, but the seller is having a laugh with that price given that's how much they are new on Amazon even without the semi-frequent price fluctuations.

As for other options... if you're in Blighty, the Venom PS3/4 stick is cheaper, and it's a pretty nice chassis (the default buttons are ass, though), but that doesn't have L3/R3 or possibly more crucially, touchpad support, so that's probably something to hold off on until we actually know what they do in SFV.

They do not have this issue. What would left trigger even be? Ps4 has R1 and R2. Not labeled the same as xb1 sticks.

Thanks, I was just going by what the tweet said. I would assume RT and LT would be R2 and L2. The link the MCz rep replied to was the PS4 TE2, even though he said RT and LT. I thought he might have just made a mistake.

Guys I know this is the stick thread but I'm after a decent game pad for SFV on PS4. What's the best one? I'm in UK I don't mind importing or I could wait for that mad catz one coming out?

For a 6-button setup, I would say the Hori Fighting Commander 4. Either that or you could hedge your bets on the MadCatz FightPad Pro coming out.

Just plugged my Chun stick into my laptop and tried it on Xrd. Every button works in PS3 mode.

Some fighters don't work with ps4 mode (KoF13), so I usually just leave it in ps3.

Edit: Every button works in ps4 mode as well.

Is it really necessary to have a TE2+ with a touch pad for SFV? If you don't have that feature, what's the limitation?

Other games use it to reset position in training mode or in SF4, you use it to show motion commands instead of special move names in the trials. They should just do like Xrd and allow you to map these things to any button.

It's not a big deal at all to me. I valued having a blue case more than a touchpad on a black case like the others I already own.

Getting my sanwa buttons in today to place inside the Hori RAP4 I bought. This should be as simple as opening it up from the bottom and just popping out the existing buttons and reattaching the wires, yes?

I found the Hori FC4 one pretty good, but for me the d-pad was a bit too small and stiff for long-term comfortable use with SF. IMO, I would wait for reviews on the MC one, as it copied the nice shoulder button option feature where you can map all the button to the right side and also has the touchpad.

Yeah I thought it seemed a little steep. People always trying it on on Ebay. I am indeed in good old Blighty, I'll look into that stick.

So is the Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 a decent stick?

I am in no way close to a tournament gamer, but have more than enough to afford my first stick and am going with the SFV TE2 Chun-Li... and am getting more and more excited about playing around with it.

While I wait on it to arrive, I wanted to place an order at tek innovations for a new white plain plexi cover and am really excited in general for all the modding i can do with it already...

Question I have, on the site it mentions the "new TE2's having the slimmer 1/32 inch plexi's" but nothing more than that...

I would like to place my order tonight just to have the cover ready to go when I actually receive my stick, does anyone know if the Chun-Li one specifically is the new 1/32 he mentions? Or is it the 1/16 inch one still that is openly available on his site.

OH and LAST QUESTION: I can see that you can purchase a 6-button plexi cover on his site as well. As someone who grew up with the 6-button setup in arcades, I kinda want this... but what exactly happens to the other buttons? do they just loosely hang out in the storage compartment of the stick? can they just be unplugged with the unused wires left that way inside the stick with no issues?

Really really appreciate anyone who is willing to answer these...

Inside the TE2 there is actually a soft, cut-out spot with places to hold two extra buttons. You can stick the buttons in there and otherwise just leave their wires as is. Nothing will be moving around inside afterward.

See the bottom left corner.

I'm in no way any sort of expert on sticks, but I liked it a lot. Not a huge fan of the buttons though. I'm swapping them out tonight.

Anyone here preorder the universal fighting board? I'm so close to pulling the trigger on one just to mess around with it.

I'm tempted, but I really have no use for its functionality. I have plenty of ps360 boards and can't see XB1 ever getting a fighter I wouldn't play on PC or PS4.

Definitely great price for people looking to keep their sticks current gen, though.

So, I'd possibly want to install a padhack into my HRAP3 to play SFV. Has anyone done a padhack with the PDP MKX controller? I've seen a few diagrams on SRK, but I'm not sure if I need a switch to go between PS4 and PS3/PC mode.

I've got this stick at work and it's a fine stick; but it's not worth the amount the seller is putting it up for. The buttons are Hori's own I think and are passable but not great; I find them a little sticky (particularly after a lot of use) and prefer sanwas.

Just going by my past experiences with the TE sticks and the VSHG, I would say that long term this particular Hori stick doesn't hold up well in terms of build quality and endurance. I've used it for a couple of months on all the SFV betas and for some Ultra and can already feel the buttons are going. Given the price of that Ebay listing I'd just put down another 20 and go for the new TE S+; pretty sure that'll be a more reliable / sturdy stick.

I brought five, because I want to get my stick mods done as soon as possible. My 4 mkx xbox pcbs in my tri-mod vs sticks are complete dodgy. All four of them suffer from the double directional input issue in KOF02um and XIII on 360. Also, I am replacing the hori viewlix pcb with one as well.

As for the FC4 and the ps4 viewlix pcbs, I will just buy some cheap arcade sticks, throw the pcbs in them and give them to new local players who are just starting out who can't afford one or I'll give them to my local store, Xanadu Games, so it can have spare sticks for local gatherings.

Ok, so I just pulled my 360 Mad Catz TE2s out of storage and saw that the usb connector for one of them was busted. Is there some place I can buy just that small adapter cable (with cheap shipping to Norway)?

Also, is dual modding them to work with PS4 feasible in any way?

Canadian Joysticks is gonna be selling the Brook universal PCB (est. ship time in March)

This greatly pleases me.

Edit: Bluh, comes to $154 for me after S&H + Taxes... For $32 I could get the TES+ I already have ordered... decisions.

I've read a little about it, but anyone have one of the hori rap 4 vlx sticks? Some guy on CL locally has one for 149. Been on a stick binge so I don't know if I'll bite, but I don't have one for the PS4 which made me think of it. Got 3 versions of the 360 TE (original that seems to always have a dead button, the ssfiv s, and a MvC TE) and a RAP for the Xbox one. Most of these I bought in the last two months for like 60 bucks or less. Mainly bought them to do fighting on my PC going forward and got the rap for the xbone for backwards compatibility and Killer instinct, but that vlx stick seems nice and the price seems good. That said, its almost as much as I have spent on my other three sticks total.

Just figured I would ask, and that this would be a good place to do so.

I was tempted

but i bought a TE2 instead so i can play without being cut off when a FWU comes out, (nothing sucks more than waiting for a FWU so i can use my sticks to play)

and i also bought white brook adapter for the rest of my legacy sticks

Pure speculation:
the universal board looks good and i don't doubt their customer service and fgc backing

its Capcom/Sony i'm worried about

Sony continues with FWU all the time in which its possible to break the uni board

and it might get to a point where the pcb is locked out entirely

also there is a tiny chance Capcom can still use the Mike Z driver (skull girls) so that i may use the legacy sticks with out the adapter

This is where I stand. I pretty much know how to wire it but I'm worried about their support going forward, a few years from now. I'm really mulling over just getting a TE2+ since it will cost me $100 more and guaranteed to work with firmware updates.

i went with the sure bet

plus the te2s slightly more available and affordable for me at the moment

because i'll be fiending all the time for sfv and nothing must get in the way of the crack sessions =)

Thoughts on this stick for PC.

https://www.gamesmen.com.au/cont-xb3-hori-umvc3-arcade-stick

More importantly is it easy enough to remove the art?
I was looking at getting one of those for a short period of time. From what I can remember:
Art: Is stuck on with Contact or whatever, not easy to replace (doesn't have a plexi)
Parts: I think they were Sanwa?

Might be more trouble than it's worth. I'm going to save my pennies and buy the Madcatz Alpha stick FWIW, providing it isn't too pricey here.
Edit: I'd be more tempted to get the WWE pro stick (maybe even that two pack for $50) then add the parts to it that I want. Has the same issue with the art, though :/

Anybody have any thoughts on the 2.03 version of the ps360+? That's the one I bought a while back and I know they updated the hardware to version 2.10 but if possible I don't want to buy a new board.

That version has random delayed input issues on the XB360 side (mostly noticeable when you press two or more buttons at once). All other consoles the PS360+ supports are fine.

Is it a huge issue? I read it was like maybe a frame, but I honestly dont think of anything that I play on 360 that would have an impact. Plus with 360 being phased out doesnt seem that big of a deal going forward

I have the Pokken control for Wii U on preorder and am thinking about taking out the PCB and putting it into the case of a fightstick.

My options are a Hori EX2 I can gut or if there's a way to use my Madcatz TE2 for both PS4 and Wii U I could do that.

How practical are either options and are there and guides or tips on how to accomplish this?
