Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

I think other people are right when they said they'll wait til the last minute to support it just to push sales of the new hardware.

I would be extremely surprised if they don't support PS3 sticks. It would not be a smart move on their part at all.

Have to sell those new sticks don't they? I'll cancel my pre-order if they don't support it. Hoping they do the right thing here.

PS3 stick support was announced for USF4 PS4 literally a week before release. Capcom wants to sell as much of those sponsored MadCatz sticks as they can so it doesn't make sense to announce you can use the sticks you already own until the last possible second. I expect an official announcement about it next week, but that's just my own conjecture.

it makes sense if they are trying go the esports route, they need a large player base not every one is sponsored and has money to just buy a new stick

Do any of you guys have experience with the Brook PS3 to PS4 adapter? I am thinking of getting this but want to make sure that there are no horror stories of the thing being junk first.

Oh wow I didn't know this was a thing... If this really is decent/no noticable lag then maybe I should invest in this for my Qanba Q4 instead... Canadian Joysticks will be carrying Brook products in March.

Is there a consensus on the Arcade stick lag charts on Shoryuken? I don't want to start a new debate here, but I purchased a HRAP4 Kai which scored lowest of everything tested and feel mildly concerned.

yah theres a thread (hopefully it works) disclaimer: take all results with a grain of salt =)

my stick got a c+ rating on the ps4 TE2

A lot of people don't trust the Teyah lag charts. I haven't heard any input lag complaints from anyone who actually owns a HRAP4 Kai, all of the claims of lag have been from citing that chart every single time. I wouldn't be concerned.

I don't think that's what he was asking, Wreck

There is no consensus on those results as of yet. Just a bunch of arguments back and forth so far. I don't think it's a difference maker tbh but my padhacks aren't even on the tested list so I don't even bother caring for the most part. I know Markman has come out and specifically said the results should be taken with a grain of salt.

It's certainly not a definitive ranking, at the very least. Even though some people act like it is.

yah sorry i should have added disclaimer "with a grain of salt =)"

It's up to Capcom to add support for directinput. And it's actually dumb that they're not supporting it since Sony controllers are directinput. It's like they don't want you to use Sony controllers with Sony (PC) games.

Doesn't Capcom have a deal with MadCatz? Wouldnt MC want them to support their new sticks (which I've preordered) for SFV on PC?

Good thing amazon has a sick refund policy. I'll send it back in a heartbeat I'm sick of having issues with sticks on PC.
Atrox

Thanks for the info. Yeah this totally blows for anyone getting it on PC. I'm sure there will be issues...I don't expect release to be smooth. I think MarkMan linked Capcom's stance on dinput a while back, but it doesn't seem like they will be doing anything from their end to make it work.

Are you saying the mad catz sticks might have issues too?

Any stick with directinput could have issues, which includes the MCZ PS4 sticks. I'll be sticking to my modded stick with an X360 option and I'm glad I did.

Did we get an official statement as far as Dinput sticks on PC with SFV? If Capcom releases it without support for Dinput they are morons.

EDIT: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=193706531&postcount=631

Q3) What game pad and arcade stick can I use?

A3) XInput-compatible game controllers such Xbox 360 and Xbox One game pad and arcade sticks should work right out of the box. If you are using a DirectInput-based device such as Sony’s DualShock 4 game pad, you may need to install a third party XInput emulator/wrapper that translates DirectInput calls into XInput calls. While we cannot endorse or validate third party software, you can search for “directinput to xinput wrapper.” If you’re using a DualShock controller, search for “DualShock Controller on PC.”

So they are morons. At least it sounds like they will be adding Dinput support. God knows when, of course.

So is there any online service aside from Art's Hobbies that anyone could recommend for high-quality art prints and cutouts for the TE2? I tried doing it myself at a local Office Depot recently because there were no better local print shops in my area, and the end result wasn't all that great. The only card stock that they had was a bit to matte for my tastes, which made the print look dull, and when I cut out the button holes the edges left behind were white and a bit frayed.

I'd use Art's Hobbies, but they use a different sizing template for their prints that assumes the buttons will be removed and then installed over the new art. This is as opposed to the stock TE2 template which has the button cutouts resting around each button instead of underneath it.

I have my art template sized and ready to print. I just need some way to have it printed and cut in high quality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I don't use Art's site I usually just hit up Kinko's and get it printed on photo paper. They used to have an online system, unsure if they still do.

@MadCatz
Mad Catz is working on a firmware update to include x-input as well. SFV (PC) will update with d-input post launch.

good news for the ps4 sticks

Currently experimenting cutting neoprene washers I got at Lowe's to make my Sanwa buttons into silent ones and seeing if I like the feel. Having success so that's good.

If I stick (no pun) with getting a TES+ or TE2+, considering modding all the buttons.

How much quieter are they? I was going to order the official ones, so I am interested in your impressions.

Yeah I did. I selected Great Britain as my region. Then when I went to order I got a list of countries in French. Put the order through after I figured out 'royaume uni' Meant United Kingdom in French. Got the email conformation so I'm hoping it all went through okay

Apologies for the experience. I'll have someone from the web team look into it. Thanks for your support.

There's definitely a noticeable change loudness. The biggest thing being that the pads dampen the sharpness that you would hear when the buttons hit the plastic.

This is an accurate video of the results using the official buttons.

I would still probably recommend the official ones if you can get them. I live in Canada so getting silent buttons isn't the cheapest ($4 per button at Canadian Joysticks, + min. $16 shipping) for me so modding is working well enough and my most inexpensive option.

I'm Canadian too, and am looking for alternatives for the same reason.

Oh, then yeah. I will say the result I have is the same as heard from the official buttons in the video I posted. I did have trim off a few millmeters around the the diameter otherwise they felt a tad jammed beforehand.
I paid $1.80 after tax for two washers, so a set of eight is just $7.19 after my tax (ON), so that's not bad.

That means that Capcom will update SFV on PC to include d-input post launch? Alright, cancelling new sticks.

Not sure how much shipping is to Canada, but PAS and FA both sell precut foam dampeners.
Paradise Arcade Shop: http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/569-button-stuff?orderby=price&orderway=asc
FocusAttack: http://www.focusattack.com/silencer-sanwa-seimitsu-30mm-foam-washers-8-pak/

I like removing the clack sound from the button bottoming out, but it feels a little mushy at the end of the press.

Dunno shipping cost to DD-11, but for me to Canada it would be $12 USD roughly. One set of those comes to $13.45 USD, which after conversion (;_;) is about $20 CAD

And yeah, that sort of mushy feeling is definitely something that takes getting used to.

Trying to experience a new game that you're not familiar with while using a stick (that you haven't really played much with since childhood) and having to use a 3rd party program like xpadder/joy2key/x360ce that introduces a frame or 2 of input lag is straight bullshit.

joy2key isnt going to introduce even a frame of input lag

joy2key isnt going to introduce even a frame of input lag

I seem to be finding quite a few instances of people saying that all of those programs offer input lag.

And then I can find people saying it offers like 4ms of lag, which is fine. Either way it's kind of dumb that Capcom said the game 'requires x-input'. That doesn't even make sense.

joy2key isnt going to introduce even a frame of input lag

It does introduce 1-2 frames of lag you can check SRK or Shmups forum.

X360ce I've heard introduces slightly less lag but have not been able to test.

This whole thing is a blow up from Capcom & Madcatz both should have better communication on the matter seeing as these companies are selling and advertising these products for SFV.

Hopefully, Madcatz has the shit ready for launch or there is gonna be a lot of pissed customers at Capcom & Madcatz.

The fact that it's possible to add Xinput support via firmware update has interesting implications. Wonder if it'd be possible for Sony to do that for the DS4 itself? That would fill the role of the mythical "PC drivers" people have been demanding.

carry on if you can, if its in your checked bag you can guarantee that TSA will be rummaging through your bag

Yeah carry on will be best bet.

I got called over to my carry-on bag for inspection after it went through the scanner. But I also had hard-drives and my stick in there all bubble wrapped so I expected to be pulled to the side. They didn't rummage through my stuff, they let me open the bag and just asked simple questions. But I was flying domestic in Canada.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep it in my carry on.

Even though I preordered on PC, I'm totally buying a PS4 copy until it's sorted out for sure. Ugh...

Yeah I'm torn on what to do. I already bought SFV on PC and no refunds. Do I keep the new sticks, buy on PS4 and wait? Or do I deal with input lag from wrappers on PC and wait? I'm a bit vocal on this because I don't want to throw away hundreds of bucks again.

Alright, so I'm at my wit's end here trying to print, cut out, and install some custom artwork on my TE2. I have tried two different ways now, once with a thicker card stock and once with photo paper. I'm trying to install it the traditional way without having to remove the buttons since that is one of the convenience features of this particular stick, but no matter how precisely I cut the holes according to the template they either won't quite fit around all of the buttons or they lay down around the buttons but have visible frayed edges that look crappy.

How is someone ever supposed to cut these holes to be exactly the perfect circumference so that they fall neatly around every single button with no edges showing? Like I said earlier in the thread, I'd be more than happy to just send my template over to Art's Hobbies and have them print/laser cut it, but they only print to the sizing specifications of their own custom plexi. Their plexi is sized the traditional way to go under the buttons rather than coming to rest around them.

Markman, anybody... help! I just want to put some sick-ass art on my stick.
