Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

hello. does anyone have this stick or know roughly how big it is? i'm really interested in purchasing it and i would like to know what other stick would be about the size of this one. thanks in advance!

http://arcadeshock.com/products/bla...-game-show-2015-exclusive?variant=16279363713

No that's by Exaprize. Those sticks use all Sanwa parts and those sticks are fairly cheap and they are good quality for the size. I would recommend it.

I would recommend it. It is missing some stuff like touchpad but the stick itself is great and it is a budget alternative to Hori that a lot of Japanese customers buy. Most customers buy it for the NeoGeo feel.

You can get one for like 100USD fine. That BlazBlue one is expensive because it is a limited edition product. Exaprize isn't offered in the US I think so you will need to import it or get it from a seller that does sell in the US.

Most if not all of them are Sanwa OBSF and JLFs. IF you need to switch it will be a tighter fit because of the size.

Who's fault is it then? I don't understand this statement. They are selling a product, if they outsource parts of the product you still need to have QA (especially if you are selling it as a 'premium product")

When I went over some challenges of the stick I had to keep the perspective they are selling this gaming device for $350 (in Canada after taxes comes to about $400). If you lose perspective of the product price it can completely change how you would weigh any negative factors.

Mistakes like that happen especially when you outsource things from other companies. I work for a company that makes their own product and buys out other products from dedicated suppliers. Mistakes happen and that's just part of the game unfortunately as long as the companies fix the issue in a timely and customer service friendly way then they are alright by me. The stick wasn't defective by any means and I only realized it squeaked a little because I usually play late at night with little to no volume and also known kw what to look for when trying out stick parts.

I'm not saying anyone has to be happy with it and you are right in your claims that it should be perfected when being sold as "premium" but I am more understanding of things because of my inside knowledge of manufacturing. I am sure if you weren't happy with your TE2+ MCZ would gladly refund you or send you a replacement. I have been using and buying sticks/parts for 10+ years and things happen unfortunately.

thanks for the info Shun! i want the Blazblue stick because i really like the SD characters on it and it doesn't seem like too many people have that stick. i'm definitely gonna get and share some pics too!

I was going to get the stick during TGS but it is a little pricy since I already own 2 sticks.

I might change my mind I really do want it tho...

but yeah it's a great grab I love Exaprize. Hopefully the artwork doesn't scratch or anything.

looking at these on ebay, are they all considered good sticks? What kind of price should i be looking to pay for older ones?

Ill be using them on PC

Used Sanwa part sticks should run about $100.

I really like the TE round 2 out of those 3.

What I really would like to find is a pair of SFxT Vs. sticks and a bracket to 2p them. Trouble is out of print means people think they are collectors items even tho they are out of the box.

I'm an arcade stick neophyte, but that TES+ is really calling to me. Anyone able to pick one up yet?

Yes. It's perfect.

I also bought the new TE2 Chun-Li fight stick and was kinda disappointed of the topside.

So i decided to buy the TES+ aswell. And this thing is really rock-solid! How many times you need to open that stick anyway? Despite it is really easy to open on the bottom side...

About the TE2: Since i was recommended to loose the hinges on the TE2, to make it close better, i rather decided to send it to the Madcatz support and let them repair it first! :D
I'm still waiting for the stick to return and will give an update how this turned out. Hopefully they fix it.

What did you find to be most troubling about the TE2? I know there is like a FAQ of what's wrong but what was giving you the trouble?

Kai has more space between lever and buttons. Not sure what else is different. Just ordered rap kai v4 from Amazon.de myself, no need to buy from Japan.

Wait, does this confirm the Kai revision as Silent as well?? This was my suspicion when I got mine--the Hayabusa buttons are super quiet compared to Sanwas and the stick itself is quieter than the other Hayabusa I have in my Fightstick Pro. The noise difference is much less between the sticks compared to the buttons but definitely there.

Edit: Okay, after watching an unboxing video of the Silent Kai, my only conclusion is that the Hayabusa buttons are just much quieter generally--because of the low profile perhaps. The silent Hayabusa stick in the video was way too quiet to be what I have however, despite the one in my Kai being less clicky than my other Hayabusa.

The trouble is caused by the opening top side and my own sense for perfection. The top side does not close perfectly, so you can push it down. It grinds at the side panel and makes that creaking sound. Not what i expected of a 250€ fight stick.

you know, the more I use the HRAP4, the more I love the design. they made it easy to lift off the lap with the way the sides are designed. the bottom has a flat surface with pads for the tables or lap. and the compartment for the cord is nice and large so I'm not struggling to put the cord back when not in play.

really good design overall. I love it.

Arcadeshock says they ship to Canada and they claim to have the Hayabusa version in stock.

cool, thanks. I will check them out if I find nothing else. Are they trustworthy? no issues with them?
EDIT: Dammit, they're sold out -___-. How long does that site takes to restock?

Anyone else found a HRAP Kai with the new buttons that ships to canada?

teyah says that a Japanese tester who uses the same method he and other Japanese testers use, that they concluded that the new Hori line is much, much better in terms of input lag.

As new users, input lag is probably one of the last things we should be worrying about.

Can you point me in the direction of this test or where teyah confirms it? I'm looking for more details/numbers if possible.

That stick and its blazblue variant are cute. I'm pretty tempted to pick one up.

Just Finished up a hitbox custom. The customer wanted to go with a clear theme for the build :)

there's also a grip on the front that you could use to hold the stick in one hand although knowing my clumsy ass i would never want to hold anything like this with one hand lol

What do you plan on getting instead of the TES+?

Currently have the TE2+ ordered on amazon but reading all the negatives about the two new sticks has me concerned.

If the TE2+ is going to be your first stick, you'll probably be fine dude. There are some legitimate criticisms against it, and the rest comes down to personal preference.

For me, I started out with the first TE. It is a solid stick but changing out buttons in that thing is a pain in the ass, I am looking forward to when I can simply pop the case open and swap them out.

The only thing that really concerns me is reading how you can depress on the plexi, I can get a little rough with my stick lol. But from the brief experiences I've had with the te2, I couldn't pick out anything I didn't like about the stick.

Man I saw some dude walking around evo with one of those things like a messenger bag since it has those hooks for a strap and I was super jealous, way more convenient than lugging around a bag at a tournament if it's an all day thing. And it just looks so fucking class.

Would you be so kind as to write back if amazon.de already ships the Kai with the updated Hayabusa buttons? They still have Kuros written on the page, but amazon is notorious for not/slowly updating their product information. I want to get a Kai as well, but am in no rush and would wait a few weeks if they still ship with the Kuros here in middle europe.

I asked around a few local companies today to cut me a metal plate and fitting black plexi cover for a DIY hitbox. Except for one they sadly don't take low volume orders but for the one that does it would be around 50€ for these two pieces ... . Ouch.

Amazing work. I really like the design of that case.

im going to go ahead and buy the brook ultimate pcb and get rid of my dual mod setup I have atm. But I am wanting a new case to put it in and having trouble with finding a decent well priced one. I seen the panzer by jansen but that is a little too much for me. also seen tek innovations case which is nice, but spending $80 on a case that you have to be delicate with does not seem a good idea for a clumsy/heavy handed person like myself. Any recommendations on blank cases or know of anyone selling gutted cases?

looking to spend less then $100 on a case, thanks

Sure, not too bothered which one I get

hell yes, HRAP4 with Hayabusa buttons shipped out from Hori Store. got 10% off code on it too so only paid $134.99.

not in my state. def gonna be buying directly from them in the future.
Lol, yeah that wouldnt work for me. Just found out that I live about 2 miles away from Hori USA Headquarters. Should have just drove down there and pick up this stick.

Got my TES+ in today. Have to say I like the base and form factor much better than the TE2. Probably the best stick base Mad Catz has come up with to date for my tastes. Feels rock solid.

That said, not only does the lever squeak pretty bad intermittently, the R2 button seems pretty flat compared to the other buttons. It responds at least so the button isn't actually dead but it definitely feels off; the action is a dull thud and I can't hear the clicky action of the button at all. Probably some tiny bit of dirt or plastic somewhere in the travel. Kinda pissed off right now as I have no spare OBSF-30s in that color, nevermind I didn't really buy it to be fucking around in there the second I get it out of the box.

On the plus side my newer Fighting Commander pad also came in today, and my RAP 4 Kai should be here by Friday. Hori's pads seem to be on point so let's hope their sticks are up to the same standard.

Tested out the Kai on my PC version of SFV. The new Hayabusa buttons feel so good and I was pulling motion controls no problem. Only issue was that the panel that holds the USB cancel already popped out. I had to spend a couple of minutes putting it back in. I can see that breaking apart easy. Other than that, I really like this stick. I was going to see the reviews on the TE2+, but instead I think I will stay with the Kai.

I have the old Blazblue Exaprize from 2013 or so. It's a solid stick, looking cool and easy to carry around for tourneys, but the art does NOT last if you actually use it. The laminate(?) layer on top of the art peeled and large parts of the art itself have faded away where you rest your left hand on it; I'm mad that I didn't anticipate this and make a scan of the art back when I got it so I could reproduce it.

Q1 covers basically all of that except for Xinput support, which you can get through a wrapper on PC. The parts aren't "true arcade quality" but they aren't bad and can be replaced easily enough.
Thanks for the advice.

Did some more research and lurking through this thread and discovered the Mayflash Arcade Fighting Stick V2. It appears to have a similar premise to the Qanba Q1 (midrange stick with ok parts and modding potential), but it has proper XInput, a longer cable, and a lower price. It doesn't have the desk mounting bracket and doesn't look as nice but w/e.
Man I'm even more tempted to buy a stick dangit.

Found an old used Hori stick, the body is from Hori RAP 3(that's a PS2 erra aracde stick), but it's in a nice condition and the actual parts are pretty new:
- Sanwa buttons taken from a Madcatz TE2
- Sanwa stick taken from Madcatz SCV edge edition
- Motherboard is a DS4

I'm wondering if there's any negative side to this set up, mainly DS4 as a motherboard?

Torn between this and a hori fighting commander pad.

DS4 makes a good padhack when it comes to latency, but people have noticed that due to its blutooth design the more DS4s in the area the worse its latency. The other issue is having to unpair it from systems if you use it at tournies. For the most part though, that seems good to me.

Got the new Hori RAP V Hayabusa in today.

CZpLpFkWcAAk4N1.jpg

Pretty nice so far.

The new Hayabusa buttons shit all over the old Kuros.

I was having some problems with the stick snapping back to neutral too hard the first few days, but after the break-in period it's loosened up pretty nicely. Popping SPDs like a champ.

Really love the switch, too, since I actually do play games across the PS4, PS3, and PC. Not really sure the turbo switch has any value to me as a non-shmupper, but I might actually get some mileage out of slapping V-Skills/V-Trigger on the seventh and eight buttons with the reassignment option.

Awesome. What is the port next to the rj45 port? Does that allow you to play on arcade boards?

Its a DB20 wired up for supergun/NeoGeo :-)

Amazing job, that is S-tier ! Which type of cherry switches did you go for, black? Can you throw up a quick video (I'm curious how the buttons sound in that shell)?

Sure can when I get home tonight. They are blacks. Not quiet, but not loud either.
