Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Let me know if you find out anything new. I'd like to know the exact issue since it seems so common and I'm not sure if mine has only temporarily stopped squeaking.

Well I've cleaned out the microswitch again with a fiber cloth. I wiped anything it would touch down and I alsonly rubbed the square gate down and the clips. Been in training mode hitting dashes for about 10 minutes and regular combo practice for about another 10 and it seems to be doing fine. Before it would last about a couple minutes before it reverted back to squeaking. Checked the lube and washer on the stick itself just in case and everything was fine so that is ruled out as causing an issue.

I guess I'll see how it is the rest of the week once I get some more play time on it.

Edit:Well it came back about after an hour of play. Same side and everything. I'm going to order a new square gate and see if that fixes the problem.

Keep us posted.

Come to think of it though, I think my squeaking stopped after I started rubbing down the areas around the red plastic things like you said you did. Maybe the squeak is coming from there and that's why it stopped for longer than it usually does for you? You might want to keep trying to wipe those areas down and see what happens.

Btw, is it only squeaking in one direction for you?

What are some reliable places to get a Hitbox or hitbox-style controller? I was going to get one from hitboxarcade.com but they seem to have gone out of stock and there's no indication as to when they'll go back on sale. Specifically a hitbox that's compatible with both PS4 and PC.

It was squeaking on the right micro switch. Although it did just start squeaking on the left one as well so I just cleaned both of them. Only the right one has come back. I've cleaned them out about 4 or 5 times now and the problem can only be reproduced when the square gate is back on. After today and a square gate swap if it keep coming back I am just ripping this thing out and buying a Hayabusa stick from focusattack and installing that instead.

That is your best place unless you buy one second hand. They should be having another batch in the next coming months so look out for them opening pre-orders if you want to get one.

Yeah, mine would squeak mostly from the bottom switch, but would also start squeaking in all other directions randomly. I repeatedly opened up each microswitch and rubbed them all down until it worked, but for all I know it could have been something else entirely causing the squeak since the exact issue seems so common.

To be honest, it's painfully clear no one's minding their social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter), and probable no one has since Black Friday.

If they aren't dead, they certainly aren't making themselves look like a legitimate business. I can't imagine it's that hard to check Facebook every four months to make sure that all the postings on your company page aren't people asking for and failing to receive assistance.

So for the stick noobs on here, any videos with directions on how to clean these switches (not even sure what they look like).

Would you be so kind as to write back if amazon.de already ships the Kai with the updated Hayabusa buttons? They still have Kuros written on the page, but amazon is notorious for not/slowly updating their product information. I want to get a Kai as well, but am in no rush and would wait a few weeks if they still ship with the Kuros here in middle europe.

Arrived today, Kuro buttons. Stick seems really noisy to me.

I'm surprised you didn't snag the Ultimax one when they were out tbh.

Was not a fan of the design, too much going on. That and regular TE2 didn't have a touchpad. That was the ultimate reason I chose hori first.

Now I can choose te2+ with ease, really looking forward to it.

i'm gonna need to sell some of my old sticks. they're all in excellent condition. probably use the B/S/T thread soon

My RAP 4 Kai from Amazon.de should arrive today too, how do you like it so far?

First stick I've ever bought so can't really compare it to anything. Played Shatter and SF2HD with it and apart from sucking at shoryukens I've no complaints. I found charge characters much easier. Is the clicking noise from the lever normal?

real squeaky stick, PS button got stuck a few times. figured i'd sell it for a nice profit and try the HRAP out.

loved the OG MC sticks but it's clear the build quality aint what it used to be.

I have an HRAPV3-SA (similar case design to the HRAP4) and it felt kinda light and hollow compared to the OG TEs tbh

Said fuck it, decided to just use the print even with the garbage cutouts from the supposed TE2+ layout.

The color didn't turn out that great, maybe due to lightning; but I'm thinking about fixing it anyway. Cardstock will probably turn out different compared to the current glossy one.

I'm not sure what color I'm going to paint the whole case. Not sure if I like the black, or white ball top.

Probably run LEDs when the updated LVT3 comes out, and really depends on how much it costs as well. Because right now, $125 USD it just brutal, if it was in stock.

I really want to do something to the sides as well; not exactly like the fighting edge, but close. Maybe just run LED strips for that instead of the buttons. Going to see what I can get away with.

looks pretty dope if you ask me

Is there any physical difference between the Sanwa OBSF and the OBSFS (silent) apart from the silencer ring? Many of the silent ones are out of stock on focusattack, but I could just buy regular OBSFs and a pack of silencer rings and do it myself if that's the only difference.

(originally posted this in the 3ds homebrew thread by mistake, ha!)

Nope. Do that. Pretty sure it's cheaper that way.

my panzer fight stick case in the other day. Banderas.gif Man this thing looks super good. Just gotta wait on the wiring and i'll be all set

Will do! Thank you!

Edit: shipping to New Zealand is more than the cost of the buttons themselves, nvm.
Any other recommended places to buy em?

Double edit: Okay, I can get sanwa buttons for a good price from their rakuten store, but I can't find anywhere to buy the foam washers that doesn't cost $20US+ to ship internationally. Anyone got ebay links and/or other sites to recommend? Focusattack and paradise arcade are a no-go.

Ever since SF V came out, I dusted off my HRAP3 for some action. Now that SF V has gripped me again, I got the itch to customize my stick. I've already replaced it with violet Sanwa buttons when I got the stick initially about 8 years back, and I recently changed to the violet mesh ball top. <3 mesh ball. I also installed a plexiglass on the face of the HRAP3. Here's how it looks like currently.

So two things here...

Firstly, the HRAP3 is a bitch to open up. After the 8 screws at the bottom, there's 2 screws internally and 6 nuts before I can replace the art. These 6 nuts is for the 6 screws you see on the face of the HRAP3. Any of you guys ever replaced these 6 nuts and screws with something that makes it easier to open up the HRAP3?

Secondly, any recommendation for artwork? (keeping in mind violet buttons and mesh ball top).

Just ordered the BlazBlue TE stick for 360 off Amazon for cheap.

Will probably use it for SFV till the input nonsense gets sorted out

1.
These will do the job.

After playing with a Hori Rap 4 Kai I decided I like the feel of the joystick. Maybe the spring is stronger? I'm not sure what. If I wanted to replace the Sanwa joystick that came in my TE2 what would be something similar?

Random Question: did the Madcatz TE stick for Wii, Tatsunoko vs Capcom us Sanwa parts or nah?

The TvC stick used some nice clone parts, but no they weren't Sanwa.

There's a TTT2 WiiU Edition stick that operates similarly on Wii (plugs into the Wii remote) that I belive has Sanwa parts.

Got my Vewlix HRAP4 for PS4 last week.

It's a hulking beast compared to my HRAP-N3 and V3. Almost too big for normal couch multiplay, as it's harder to pass around unlike the previous two I mentioned.

That said, it's great for solo practicing and the heft works in its favor for that. This is my first stick in 15 years where I didn't add an octogate, so I'm learning some stuff over again and really loving the extended down-diagonals for my charge characters.

The buttons feel okay but the overall feel and springy-ness is...how do I put it...more like "home arcade stick" quality and not true arcade quality, if that makes any sense? They don't have that featherlight, clicky responsiveness.

The stick is pretty good. I may swap out the buttons for some colorful ones, and maybe a new ball top too. What buttons am I supposed to put in this thing again if I want that arcade feel?

is there a proper guide on how to install the ps360+ into a ps3 te anywhere? I keep finding things for the 360 or wiring all the buttons individually but that's not what I'm doing and I thought I had gotten it right previously but didn't.

This much I know:

6 wire ribbon cable:
------------------------------
1 (red) - L1
2 - X
3 - O
4 - R2
5 - L2
6 - Ground

5 wire ribbon cable:
------------------------------
1 (red) - Start
2 - Select
3 - Square
4 - Triangle
5 - R1

and I thought 1p = LP, 2p = MP, etc but that didn't work and circle ended up being x @_@

edit: actually, nvm, everything was apparently correct going off the numbers of my pc compatible stick, only thing wrong was the joystick itself which I just fixed.

Finally got to use my TE2.

A few thoughts. I was eager to mess around and customize it, but...
Seeing it in person.. the thing is so pretty!

Press pictures do it no justice. I was lukewarm on the Chun-li art, but in person it's pretty rad. I really dig the slight 3D effect. It pops.

But oh jeez will I need a lot of practice. I did a few rounds of SFV on casual multi. Won a few rounds by a hair. Lost a few and got my ass royally handed to me.
