Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

After playing with a Hori Rap 4 Kai I decided I like the feel of the joystick. Maybe the spring is stronger? I'm not sure what. If I wanted to replace the Sanwa joystick that came in my TE2 what would be something similar?

The Hori Hayabusa. It's the stock in the Hori sticks now and can be bought from nearly any shop that sells arcade parts.

Tested my RAP 4 Kai, which came yesterday, tried it with SF V, really nice feeling even if I've got the Kuro buttons, at least I have the Hayabusa stick.
Really enjoying this stick though. HORI is doing great products in my eyes.

The stick is actually more "loose" than the JLF if you want to to tighten it up a little get a 2 lb JLF spring for it. Yes you should be able to swap the JLF in your TE2 with it.

I just bought a hayabusa, 2lb spring, and mesh balltop for my TE2+ last night from focusattack.com. Hopefully it gets here by next week.

anyone know if the new hrap 4 kai (hayabusa parts) has the same pcb as the old hrap 4 kai?

It was tested by some Japanese guys and is said to be more responsive than the old kai. They didn't provide any numbers but said most issues are fixed with the PCB.

The weight is nice, you can put it on your legs without it getting annoying.
Lag is small, combo executing and moves are easy to do.

nice, i like a weighty device myself so hopefully its not too light

build feels solid?

motha

fuckin

yes

I just got my RAP4 Kai from Amazon with the new Hayabusa buttons. It really surprised me, after using Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons all these years. They have a nice feel and don't feel cheap at all. They are definitely quick press with a shorter throw than Sanwa, yet not as “loose”. Sort of in-between Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons. The matte finish is really nice too.

The Hayabusa lever is nice. I like the feel, and just like the buttons, seems like it has a shorter throw. Feels looser than a JLF. I am enjoying it so far. The case is a fingerprint magnet I have to add. Would have been good molded in white. The door for the cable is as flimsy as they say. The Kai layout has the stick further from the buttons and I actually like that. There is padding on the bottom for your lap. Feels very light compared to Mad Catz TEs but that has always been the case. The molding of the case gives a built in carrying handle which is nice.

Overall, this is a terrific stick especially for $80 cheaper than a TE2. It sits proud with my collection of sticks.

My RAP 4 Kai also came in today, and I am really digging the Hayabusa buttons. The button caps feel kind of like Topre keyboard keycaps; not certain they are PBT but they feel great. Quite like the Hayabusa lever too, though I will have to put a lot more time into it to be able to say whether I like it more than the JLF. Overall build quality seems good, except for the door to the cable storage. I think I would have preferred if that wasn't even there and the cord was just fully outside the base, I am sure at some point that weak hinge point is going to fail. Touchpad also feels higher quality than the one on my TES+. Not a fan of the Options button position; I guess they are going for an "arcade panel feel" there but I would have rather seen it someplace else, preferable on the right side where the PS button is and the PS button moved up next to the touchpad.

Easy recommendation. We'll have to see how the Hayabusa caps hold up over time aesthetically, but given the price this is probably the stick to beat right now.

Kai 4 rev. 2 (Hayabusa buttons) got here today for me too. So glad I didn't go for the TE2+. This is all the stick I need for awhile. Hayabusa parts are just as good as my TE Round 1 PS3 Sanwas (traded it into Amazon trade in for like $100 so the Kai was like $50 upgrade to get PC/PS4.)

Bargain at the asking price compared to the Madcatz stuff right now. After seeing how nice this is, it makes me want a Vewlix.

Only have tried USFIV so far on PS3 with it but its fantastic!

Bought.

What have I done?

Nothing wrong, that's for sure.

Good to hear that many people like the buttons. The Hayabusa is my favorite stick. Going to put one in my TE2+ to go along with this. Can anyone confirm if the Hayabusa buttons are made of top quality plastics? This is going to determine whether or not they last vs get worn out quickly. Was thinking of getting the new VLX but the small quality control issues compared to the VLX Kuro that are popping up make me wary to drop another $300 on it.

But I just bought a TE2+ 2 weeks ago haha

Game Center owners for the Nesica machines have not complained since their test run and installation in November.

At the rate those players play and push, they definitely last. They kind of have to since Hori advertises them and the Kuro button as less wear and longer lasting.

lol. I'm tempted just because I have the other three. :/

I do want to try the new hayabusa buttons, but not enough to buy another 300 dollar stick. :P

I haven't seen any VLX with the new Hayabusa buttons. I think I might grab one if they update the VLX to the Hayabusas and add the PC toggle. And maybe move the lever a bit further from the buttons like on the RAP 4 Kai.

I picked this up for my PC.

Are the sticks supposed to squeek in these? I'm thinking about returning it to fry's. I don't want it to lead to another issue.

Yeah that's why I bought the hrap4. I needed another smaller form stick anyways so it worked out. They really just need to make anot her VLX diamond I am tired of hearing abut issues with the paint on them personally.

that's the old one not the new one and it seems like it is the XBOX one not the PS one.

Well now I'm confused.

I have a VLX Premium, ordered directly from HORI, with "VEWLIX" and "Taito" on it. How would I know if I have Kuro or the newer buttons?

matte vs gloss.

i can confirm that Hayabusa buttons > Kuros. way faster reaction times. matte is also better cuz i hate getting sweaty hands on glossy shit in general lol

check the box. tells you in that diagram what parts they use.

Anyone know what tool to use to get these off? I have the original TE2 and the screwdriver that comes with it doesn't do anything for these. Which is really stupid because they're apparently the screws to remove the plexiglass.

I should've never bought this thing and just waited for the TE2+. The plexiglass is so bad, it's got moisture all under it and I'm trying to remove this so I can clean it off.

I already have a Brooks and ps360+ stick. I just wanted a straight up X1 PC stick. Does the PS4 version work without having to deal with 3rd party programs?

oh god hayabusa are squeaking now too?

if my hrap comes in like that im gonna freak out

My Hayabusa in my RAP Pro V squeaks bought a Sanwa JLF the same one they put in the TES+ and that squeaks also. I get My TES+ on Monday bet that Sanwa will squeak also.Aside from sounding annoying there are no performance issues involved and ive put 100s upon hundreds of hours on that stick in the year ive had it.

To take off the plexi, you need to remove the screws that hold the bezel in place. Please refer to this guide: http://madcatz.com/wp-content/uploa...ghtStick-Tournament-Edition-2-Parts-Guide.pdf

The little screw driver I got with my TE2 was fairly useless. I thought all the screw holes were stripped before i figured that the shaft of the screw driver was sitting still while the plastic handle was turning. Switched to a regular alan wrench and had no issues removing the screws. I wonder if he's having the same problem.

Thanks MM. Way easier than I thought. That's exciting. I can get some new plexiglass, this might end up not being so bad. I've never really been into customizing sticks but with the way this pops open I just might.

That's one of the main reason i got a te2+, so easy to customize. I just wish I was good enough editor to customize my own stick with art that looks good.

Well my local GS has a TE2+ and I'm thinking about picking it up. How are you liking it?

I really like the TE2 for the most part, the components are built great, but the surface with the plexiglass is just not very good. Plus having the touchpad and the r3 and l3 buttons would be nice. So I'm thinking about trying to sell if for the TE2+.

Not sure, but if you want that replaced, try contacting Mad Catz: http://support.madcatz.com -- best wishes.
