Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

RIP. Who's inheriting ur sticks in the will?

My son is learning to use them now. He had been on a pad all this time. Right now he rocks the OG Madcatz fightstick, the cheaper one, cuz of the smaller size. The other day we had a race down our block and he tied me for the first time. Then we played SFV later to make myself feel better. Soon that will change, too!

I stuffed a Hori Hayabusa into a Madcatz SF4 Stick. It feels really loose compared to the Happ parts I'm familiar with, but I guess this is standard now.

Just copped this off Amazon. Wife's going to kill me. Make me stop this madness, GAF!

I love the way this stick looks. I had the kai already but I had to keep an eye out for these on Amazon because they just weren't available at the time (for a good while, iirc). I was able to get one last year. It came with a black door but I used some white vinyl dye on it and it looks good now.

I just really like clean looking sticks and when I replace the buttons and ball I think it'll look really good. Never been a fan of getting into stick-art for myself, even though I've seen some amazing looking ones. The only thing I'd change about it is I'd lose those turbo switches. I'm one of those people that thinks that sticks shouldn't come with turbo functionality anymore...

Just recently got this stick:

(Not my picture)

It's actually amazing. Best non-sanwa, non-seimitsu (budget) stick I've used. It beats the hell out of the Age Tech stick on dreamcast and the buttons are really nice. Way way better than stock Neo Geo AES sticks too (not that that's saying much).

I'm really happy with my purchase. If you're looking for a good PS1/PS2 stick without breaking the bank, I recommend this one with confidence. It feels very accurate and not made with cheap parts.

The stick itself also feels great too. Tighter than a JLF but not too springy like the Agetech. It has a square gate by the way.

The buttons don't squeak or stick either. They feel like seimitsu buttons but with a hair less travel distance when fully pressing down.

Where did you get that?

What!? How?? I couldn't get my Hayabusa in there.

Can't really tell from the pic, but the board with the turbo and home button on it is sitting on top of the hayabusas right corner, and I didn't screw it down all the way.

I also swapped out the plate on the hayabusa for the knock off sanwa one and once the Stick was in it sat flush enough to not be noticable when I closed it up.

Looks really ugly inside, but it works.

Hey guys, question for you all.

My Street Fighter IV TE stick took a nasty fall yesterday. The stick/buttons are okay, but the actual black plastic body is all busted to shit. Is there any place I could get just a new body for it, or would I just be better off getting a new stick?

I have another stick I can use in the mean time, but I'm still pretty bummed about it. I've had it since they came out for vanilla SF4, and prefer it over my hori stick, so trying to figure out what I can do with it.

Ok, so I went ahead and got 6 Sanwa Red translucent buttons, 2 Sanwa Smoke translucent buttons (for the two inside slots), and another Smoke translucent for the Start button. Oh, and a Seimitsu Red bubble top! Stick will look dope!!!

Lol, your post reminded me and had me almost getting an LS 40, 8 Seimitsu translucent purple and a purple bubble but I backed off for now. Expensive month this month, but that itch might still push me...

sorry for calling you bob_archer

I bought Hori Fight Commander 4 and the dpad died after 10 hours of use.

I'm taking any recommendations for a fightstick. Mainly for Sfv ps4, SF4 ps3, and killer instinct 3 on pc

The most commonly recommended sticks are the Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai and the Mad Catz TE2. Both are quality; the Hori is considerably cheaper but some people prefer the buttons in the Mad Catz sticks. Also worth noting that every PS4 stick works on PS3 and PC too.

Be aware that PS3/4 sticks don't work natively with KI PC but you can use Joy2Key and they'll work just fine (I've done it myself).

Broke down and got a hayabusa vlx

I need help

Yeah, I know right? They're pretty heavy!

Seriously though, at least you know you have one now. Hori sticks seem to just... disappear sometimes. I still kinda want to try and find a 360 VLX and those look like they're popping up less and less. I dunno why I already have like...almost half-dozen 360 sticks.
I need help.

When I got my kuro vlx, I thought I'd never need another stick though, lol. I'm selling a TE2 to finance this though, which takes some of the sting off and helps me rationalize a bit easier. Getting it on sale ($50 off) helps too ;-)

yeah, that's the one I got. I got it sometime last summer iIRC. I like it a lot, but I switched out the buttons pretty quickly for some pink ones and put a pink bubbletop on it.
I didn't have a PS4 until this february...

At least you're getting rid of a stick you probably won't use! I just buy them outright.

I have one stick for each of the following:
Xbox 360,
PS1 and 2,
PS3 and 4,
and Dreamcast.

I also have two standard AES sticks for my Neo Geo CMVS that have been modded with seimitsu buttons.

I think I just need a stick for Saturn, GCN and OG Xbox and I'm 100% done. No more sticks after that for a very very long time.

Hmmm...

I have:

3 TE2s
1 TE-S+
2 Madcatz VS
1 Hori SC5 Stick
3 VLX
1 Madcatz Sanrio Stick (dunno which case this is)
1 Madcatz Alpha
2 Fighting Edge
3 custom sticks

The only new stick I want is a PS4 fighting edge.

I also have an old PS2 Byrdo lying around.

The Madcatz Arcade Fightstick Pro. I have the SFxT variant of the same one.

I'm now getting in the groove with stick and I think I've now exceeded my execution with pad. With pad I felt more limited and on stick, now that I'm used to it, I'm a lot more freeform with my combos? It's hard to explain. Sometimes I go pure heart with my combos and it just fucking works. I'm not mashing, but the stick feels like an extension of me. Is this normal?

Essentially I love stick and I don't think can go back now for better or worse.

What should I cover my stick with when not in use to protect from dust?

How are you liking the Edge? Did you fix that bent paper under the plexi?
edge is great. Looking into tightening the spring on the stick, and I had already slotted sanwa buttons in.

Mod job was a little trickier than previous ones due to having to put in resistors for the LEDs and having to run an extra wire to the 5V to give the touch panel power. Overall it was still pretty easy and I was just able to reuse the wires in it.

I haven't yet done anything with under the plexi, Art's hobbies posted that they are planning on getting out new plexi and art prints for the fighting edge, so once that happens I'll be placing an order.
