Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

If you look back at the last few pages of this thread, a lot of people have been complaining about issues with their new mad catz sticks, so I'd personally recommend you get a Hori instead.
But at the same time, most of those complaints were with the TE2+. And he'd have to spend extra to swap out the buttons & stick on the Hori.

lol, stop with this. New hori comes with hayabusa and those are just as good as sanwa. Please stop posting as if it's universal that everybody dislikes the buttons when it's not even close to the truth, especially with new hori coming with hayabusa and not kuros. :)

The Hayabusa buttons are improved, definitely, but I need more time with them. The stick however is a little on the loose side & its return to neutral is a bit sporadic (bad news for playing Third Strike or KoF). Overall, the FGC seems to regard Sanwas as the golden standard.

So the hori rap 4 Kai comes with Hayabusa buttons?

Eh, I'd wager more people bought the TE2+ over the S+, so that might account for more of the complaints being for that model. Still, there was at least one post about the S+, so it's not like those have been issue free either.

Yeah, they got updated a while back.

Yep. You can tell because of the matte finish.

Yes, I also think the stick is a bit loose, but with a 2lb spring it's my favorite stick. Spring is like .79 cents and easy to install.

I spent all weekend on my Hayabusa buttons. They definitely don't need to be swapped out for sanwa unless you want more color options. I'm just saying...stop posting like it's a definite thing that you need to replace these parts.

I just unboxed mine and the buttons are matte... but the box says the buttons are kuro...??? wat?

2lb spr8ng for hayabusa is a must IMO.

Also question for the married men do you guys take off your rings when playing? Just got hitched last week and still getting used to the thing.

Congrats, man! :)

I got married last July. The ring doesn't get in the way, but I recently started wearing a watch, and I have to remove that while playing.

If you're gonna stick with the Hayabusa stick, then definitely get the 2lb spring. That said, you made some great choices here. I'm more of a square gate guy (I grew up playing Urien, a charge character), but it's more about preference than anything else.

Yeah I am, it does seem a bit loose, but I can't say I dislike it how it is.

Waiting on focusattack to answer me about that 2lb spring.

Thanks man. I'll have to give it some time just got back from honeymoon today. I do play with the stick between my ring and pinky though so it might become problematic. Just bought revelator so I'll mess around with things today and see how it goes.

Edit: finally got around to messing with my new split frame transporter bag here's some pictures of it with and without a stick. Haven't had time to really mess with the inserts yet.

Might I recommend the Quick-Release Shaft? It'll make stick storage a whole lot easier.

Yeah.. me. MadCatz actually requested I send them a video of what's going on with my stick.... I mean it's not a huge deal to create a video but it feels weird.

Any reason you are switching out the gate?

I never tried an octo gate in any stick ever. I just want to try one because I like how the corners on a square gate can be felt, but I don't like how you don't feel the up, right, down, left directions.

But yeah, mostly try.

Ah okay. It is going to be a big change if you are used to the hard corners of the square gate.

So I just opened up my brand new TE2+ stick, and the X button don't work. I checked to see that all the connections are secure, and even changed out the button, but it still refuses to work. This happen to anyone else? I haven't ruled out the possibility that I don't know what I'm doing because I haven't tried using a PS4 until now.

Bought a HRap4 from Amazon.ca.

Unfortunately, mine came with the Kuros. It is alright, but wish it was Sanwas or Hayabusas, tho.

Put a 2.5lbs spring in it. It is a must.

I got a 2lbs spring.

Can you take a pic of your buttons? MY box said the buttons were Kuro but as earlier shown, they are matte, so they seem to be Hayabusa

you're replacing your buttons right? I'd be happy to buy them from you.

I am, for sanwas, but I want to keep them, in case I ever want to change them back, or mix them up or in case I break one or something

In any case I live in Spain. Would be expensive shipping + customs I assume.

As notworksafe said, test it on a PC to be sure. Afterwards, call Mad Catz.

Yep, had this exact problem with my TE2. submit a ticket ASAP.

Been playing on the hayabusas for a week now and really like them.

After playing on sanwa rgs and these, it's hard for me to play on normal sanwa. They feel super squishy to me now.
