I was just reading reviews on some Seimitsu screw ins that mentioned the screw in not fitting on the highest button slot on the HRAP Kai because its too close to the top panel, so they had to use a snap in for that one. Based on pictures, the screw in Sanwas and Seimitsus look to be similar sizes, so was yours a snug fit or did it require some prying?

Basically the same deal. The Hayabusas you can literally breath on and a hit would register. I am basing my Seimitsu opinion on the clear 14 gn's, btw. There was a 360 all Seimitsu stick a while back that I hated the buttons on, but I was stuck on Sanwa at the time.

Based on my limited time with the Hayabusa buttons, they're closer to that of the Sanwa JLF than Seimitsu buttons, as the Seimitsus require a bit more force to trigger them. Though overall, it's purely based on preference.

Speaking of buttons, this is what I currently have in my cart (I'm looking into modding my trusty PS3 Eightarc Onyx).

I've yet to try them myself, but my HRAPV should arrive this weekend. My biggest concern with them is that the matte finish will rub off/become glossy after some use, but I'll likely keep them around as spares even if I decide to replace them.
 
I like seimitsu for games without quick taps or slides. So 2D games, they're fine.

When I play SC or VF and need to do taps with Sieggy or Patsuka, then I prefer Sanwa.

Haven't played either with Hayabusa buttons yet...must rectify this.

Any issues with double tapping on Seimitsus?
 
Should I wait for the Hayabusa buttons to come back in stock before I purchase anything? I was hoping to give them an extended try.

Screw ins fit into HRAP cases. I have 2 V4 Kais and a V3 Kai all with PS-14-GN buttons in them. Depending on which stick it is (there are many variations on the internals of the cases) you MIGHT have to either omit the two rightmost buttons or make a tiiiiiny carving out of the plastic inside of the case to fit one of the nuts that holds a button. It's easy enough if you have to, though.

I've been a casual Street Fighter II World Warrior player on SNES (and Turbo on SFC) since probably 93 or so, and I also played a little of Turbo HD Remix on PS3.

I've never used a fight sick before, however, and instead used the default gamepad for those respective system. This has made it difficult to ever do anything more than casual, as the games seem to never get adaptations to work on console gamepads.


I plan on getting Street Fighter V for PS4 next week.
So I have 2 questions:

1. Is the HORI Fighting Stick Mini 4 a good choice of fight stick?

2. I've seen "fightpads", but can't see the advantage of them over regular gamepads? Therefore, they also don't seem to be better than a fight stick. Can someone clarify this to me?

there's no inherent advantage to stick or pad, especially at beginner-intermediate play. techniques like pianoing and the like made a difference with SFIV, but not anymore.

so, in your case, I'd recommend a fight pad. as you've said, you've never used a stick before, so this will be more well suited to you. there are lots of pro pad players, you'd be in good company!

Mine is an hrap 3 so it might be different from the kai. They do fit very snug.
 
I can't speak for the Hori specifically but I have a JLF optical stick and I love it. Takes some getting used to and feels looser than a normal stick but it's also so damn precise. Kinda hard to describe but it's really a fantastic stick. Going back to microswitch sticks honestly feels limiting.

I can't really give you a measurement but it is noticeably looser, much closer to the feel of a Hayabusa. You can rectify that with a heavier spring but I figured I'd try it out without first to see how I liked it, and I actually like the feel quite a lot.

Noted. Well I still have other stuff to buy for my Eightarc (namely the new PCB), but I'll keep that in mind.
 
I have an old HORI stick that has a metal bottom that has begun corroding or is exceptionally dirty and I can't clean it off. Is there anything I can cover it up with or am I going to have get a steel panel and a cut a new one at work (that will probably look really shitty)?
 
Hm, after owning a Hori FightStick 3 (modded with Sanwa parts), a Qanba Q4, and a MadCatz TE2+, I've decided to try and make my own arcade controller. Not a fight stick though, I've got enough (well... I mean within reason, can one truly have enough?). I want to make a Project Diva Future Tone arcade controller.

I want this to be my Summer project. I haven't done any wood working in around eight years, and have mixed access to tools... But it's something I wanna see if I can manage. It'll be costly, but if I do it at least it'll be mine. I've worked out a template for what I want to do (cross post from the PDFT thread)

Buttons are:
100mm dome buttons x4
52mm x4
30mm x7 (I have a bunch of unused 30mm Sanwas sitting around, lol)

Dimensions for this top piece is currently 600mm wide x 300m long (it's pretty big), and I'm thinking 52mm depth for the case, I'll just need to remember to factor in the thickness of the material (plywood?) that I'll be using.

Since it has to be for PS4, I'll probably get a Brook board.

Yeah, I believe that Teyah.net said that some Japanese players were seeing significantly reduced lag with the new Hori sticks when using a test similar to the one he uses. However, we still haven't seen any numbers posted.
 
Just got my HRAPV and it feels amazing. The buttons feel great and similar to sanwas, and the stick actually feels tighter than the stick on my old Kai.

and if you're playing SFV on top of that you might as well dial everything in before the round starts
 
Any guides out there on how to reassemble a stick? I wanted to check out the spring on my old Kai, but taking off the metal clip at the bottom of the stick caused everything to kinda fall apart and now I'm not 100% sure how to put it back together.

one washer rests on top of the controller, the other sits between the panel and the base of the Hayabusa.

Thanks, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong in the reassembly.

After putting in the 2lb spring on my Kai, I feel like I'll stick with the stock Hayabusa on my HRAPV since 2lb might be just a tad too stiff.

I believe so. I remember that the Q4 used sanwa parts and the Q1 used something else. Don't remember if it was their own stuff or from somewhere else.
