Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

I thought S plates are for MCZ stuff and flats are for Hori?

Actually, it seems according to Focus Attack you can use flat for both, at least for the 56/58? I have an S plate in my Chun TE and it works fine though.

Seimitsu's "SE P=40" mounting plate is considered by many players as the company's most versatile plate. This plate will attach to a wide variety of case mounts such as:

Hori Real Arcade Pro (HRAP) 3 SA/SE
HRAP V3/VA SA
HRAP 3 and licensed HRAPs such as the Arcana Heart joystick
Qanba™ Q4RAF
MadCatz™ TE

The P-40 covers mounting points of the LS-58-01, LS-56-01 (as used to mount LS-56-01 in HRAP 3), and possesses the same screw mount positions utilized by the Sanwa JLF TP-1.

The LS-32 and LS-40 are certainly shorter than a JLF, so they should be mounted with a S plate. The LS-56 though, is tall enough to be used with a straight mounting plate. It's all about clearance above the panel.

Yeah but certain

Yeah, this. All of the Hori sticks I've owned that came with a JLF or Hayabusa have a mount that requires an S plate for a 32 or 40, since they have shorter shafts.

That blue would make a nice boxer stick.

Anyone know the type of screws at the top of the Fighting Edge? I need to open it up to replace the buttons but I have no idea what kind of screwdriver I need.

Stick-GAF!

I want to change the buttons on my Fightstick Alpha but kind of need help with the wiring. Is there anywhere I can buy complete daisy chained cables with connectors for my stick or any gaffer who could make something like that for me (I'll pay for it of course)?

I just want it is easy as possible as I'm planning to make it a silent stick with new buttons and stick, the latter is easy enough but the button wiring is a bit confusing to me (plus, the original wiring is glued to the buttons so stripping those would probably make them to short)

The wires are soldered to the buttons, right? Should just be able to desolder them and attach some quick disconnects to the wire, then they'll work with any buttons.

just cut the wires at the end and add a small length of wire and a quick disconnect. I just looked up a video on the alpha, seems like that would work no problem

I use the term no problem loosely, itll work, but the stick is tiny, so the quick disconnects need bent down, and closing the case after the mod will be a pain

Just bought a Myoungshin Fanta Airbag lever from the Makestick official website. Really pumped to try it out. Was looking to install it in my Mad Catz Femme Fatale TE2, thinking it might be really difficult to do. Anyone install a Fanta stick in their Mad Catz Fightstick before and could give any advice?

Are Qanba's generally regarded as good sticks? The new PC/PS4 crystal stick seems like something I'd be interested in since it seems to have more room for your hands than my Hori, but it depends on how reliable it'd be and if I could easily swap out the stick/buttons since it seems to come with Qanba parts.

EDIT: So I confirmed with Eightarc that the crystal will have quick disconnects, but now I'm wondering how exactly LED lights work when swapping in buttons/sticks that don't have/use lights? I don't really know how the wiring works out with LEDs, would I just have loose wires in that case? Or what if I just want to turn off the lights?

ArcadeStickGAF I need advice. I want to get a PS4 stick, I'm looking into HRAP 4 Kai since I'm partial to Hori and it's readily available, but I haven't really tried the new Hori PRO parts. Should I not like those, how easy is to change them to Seimitsu parts?

If you just want semitsu parts, just order the Hori rap4 from arcade shock. They have a hrap4 installed with Semitsu lever and buttons for $160. just $10 more.

Looking into it, they include an LS-62-01 with an octogate. Wonder how that compares to the LS-32 or the LS-40 I've used before.

Thanks for the suggestion, I might just get that one!

As a big Seimitsu fan, I quite like the Hori Hayabusa buttons. Nice and springy. But if they're not your bag, then replacing Hori parts with other manufacturers is super easy. All you need is a Philips head screwdriver.

I dig them too as well. Not a big fan off the Seimitsu buttons so I usually prefer Seimitsu stick with sanwa or the new horis.

I went and ordered a Myoungshin Fanta Black Lever with a 5 pin conversion harness. I wanted to try out a crown stick, but the Fanta was cheaper on Focus Attack, and Focus Attack was out of stock of the fanta crown upgrade kit. Maybe next time when I'm looking to buy another lever, I'll pick up the crown.

Coming across your post now, also bought a Fanta lever but imported the Airbag version from the Makestick US website. Didn't know if you installed yours yet but I found this handy youtube guide which I'm gonna follow to install mine!

after OVER A YEAR of looking (on and off...) for instruction glass for my Astro City control panel I found one listed on eBay and leaped at the opportunity. About $40 shipped is more than I'd like to have spent on a small piece of glass, but I'll feel better once my stick is complete.

Now for the big question... I'm not expecting anyone to know this, but what the hell:
Was there a VF3 instruction slip for Astro City cabs back in 1996? What about 3tb in 1998?

I imagine there would be. Astros were pretty much commonplace alongside Blast City cabs. I don't know what Sega's preferred method of artwork would have been for VF3 and VF3tb at the time, though.

Oh shit, I do have a Blast City and not Astro City panel... are the dimensions different? Did I fuck up?

They should fit. The main differences between the Astro, Blast and Versus cabinets were the cabinets themselves, the control panels, button layouts aside, were pretty much the same IIRC.

I don't believe they are, actually. At least not for instruction cards.

Whew, okay. crisis averted! Thanks.

Also, looking into some things I came across this. It's VF3 on a Blast, with an instruction card.

Interesting... The hunt is on. Anyone know the japanese name for instruction card? Thanks for finding this!

edit: looks like it's this in the bottom left corner:

Hello!

(hopefully this is the right place for this question) I am wondering:

is the "Mad Catz Street Fighter V Arcade FightStick Alpha" the best budget stick? (Especially for a Canadian). What do y'all think?

I'm not very fussy about it, as it's really just for the odd occasion I have another human over at my house to play games (I've got one of those silent Rap4s for myself).

If you're looking for an entry-level PS4 stick specifically, I would think the qanba drone is a better buy than the fightstick alpha. The latter is tiny.

Ah! Thanks so much for the recommendation. This does look like a better bet, and only a hair more expensive. Sweet. :D
