Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

I think I might bite on the Qanba assuming it's not priced too high. Seems to have the size factor I'm looking for with the reliable parts and ease of modding.
I might do the same, especially now that I have a steady source of income. Hopefully it's not too big so I can carry it around.

New Hori Hayabusa. Has a headphone jack.

So apparently both the Qanba Dragon & the new Hori RAP.V Hayabusa have built-in 3.5mm headphone jacks.

Mayflash got everyone moving fast lol

Good to see stick manufacturers finally adding headphone jacks to their sticks. It's a very convenient feature to have in any controller. Hopefully none of them forget the microphone-in.

damn. looks great but i already have too many sticks.

I'm getting there, and I'm kinda shocked I turned into one of those people who has multiple sticks since I don't even compete. I got a Hori Kai first, then got a TE2+ which ended up being defective TWICE, and then got the HRAPV but I'm kinda not liking the form factor/way it allows your hands to rest and the custom plexi doesn't really fit right, so I'm probably going to pick up the new Qanba. I might just end up tossing the TE2+ to make room.

I started off with a madcatz pad back in 09 and then I wanted to buy my first stick which ended being the real low budget Hori Ex 2. After playing on it a bit, I wanted to buy a TE but around that time it was sold out everywhere so I settled for a SE stick with sanwa stick/buttons as my first legit arcade stick. But I was still wanted the premium arcade stick that everyone was using at the time which was the RD 1 TE stick. I eventually bought one and it's been my stick ever since. I recently replaced the sanwa lever with a new one after playing on the original one for like 5 years straight. Now I recently bought an HRAP 4 Kai. The hayabusa buttons are not bad and the diagonals are a bit weird on the lever. Wish there was more room for your hands on the stick itself though.

Ummm, what? lol, that's waaaaay too pricey for something that looks like a direct competitor to the TE2+. I might bite on the Qanba Crystal instead.

The weight and dimensions fall in line with the VLX. Would help to have actual pics and comparisons to give a sense of the size.

Not interested in Dragon unless the discounts are deep. Amazon seems to sell the Carbon and Drone for less than MSRP pretty often so I remain hopeful.

How exactly do LEDs work inside of sticks? I'm eyeing the Qanba Crystal stick which has LED lights for the stick/buttons, but I'd be swapping parts to Sanwa/Seimitsu and don't know if I have to have any consideration for the lights.

Also, speaking of the Crystal, is it just me or is there practically no info out for this stick? It's making me kind of apprehensive about ordering it before some reviews pop up.

I'd need to see a teardown to really say. I have kaimana LED's in my TE2, they are specifically designed to fit around the base of sanwa buttons. If the LEDs in the crystal are specifically fit with the buttons, it could be an issue

Got around to installing the Myoungshin Fanta Airbag lever in my Femme Fatale TE. It's quite a shift from the Hori Hayabusa and I don't have any Tekken games to test it with (excited to use it with Tekken 7!) but it feels pretty good with Street Fighter V.

Agreed. The lack of a gate on the Myoungshin Fanta is really nice I feel for intermediate to advanced players because after a while you don't need a gate when you have your muscle memory down and are used to using a stick. I really recommend it to players who are looking for a different feel than a JLF lever. Really excited to use it with Tekken 7.

The Airbag version of the stick has Thailand switches instead which is typically used in Semitsu sticks and a securing metal plate under the microswitches.

I own the Mad Catz/Namco TE S for PS3 and love it. Is there an easy way to make it work on my Xbox One and for PS4 games that don't have the Skullgirls driver?
