This was an xmas gift for my girlfriend who is a hello kitty freak. :)

This one was wired by Toodles. I met him at EVO two years ago. This past EVO, he had people bidding on sticks and I was off by like 20 bucks, so he wired one up for me special. Just got it. I didn't know how awesome it would be to have a stick that worked on ps2. First thing I did was fire up CvS2 and the Alpha Collection. Feels good, man.

Need a good PS3/PC stick that is easily moddable.

Always heard the Madcatz PS3 sticks don't work on PCs with Nvidia mobos, and that HRAPs are hard to mod, so I'm at a loss.

You only have to worry about the first gen SF4 sticks from what I hear. Current-ish gen, including the $20 Brawlsticks, are fine.

Jumped on the sale for the brawl stick--19.99, though really 30 after Shipping and taxes.

Just came in today. Put it through its paces with some P4A. This is my first stick, so I don't have much to directly compare it to, but already I perform much better than I could with my saturn pad. It took a good couple hours to adjust, but once I did. good lawd.

Can't wait for the modding. Going to have to read up on what I think'll work for me. The art's getting switched asap, though.

So my Madcatz SFxT Fightstick Pro came in today and the first thing I tried to do was replace the buttons from my old eightarc stick, but I can't seem to remove the cords attached to the buttons on the madcatz stick.

I even went so far as to use a pair of pliers and they still wouldn't come off.

Came here to ask for advice but it's not looking good from these comments. Was hoping to use my SF IV TE stick with my new laptop

It has an Nvidia card but I think it's an Intel motherboard. Should I be ok then?

If so, how do I get my stick (PS3) working with MAME? Will the laptop just recognise it as a stick or do I need some specific drivers?

Studio Killers arcade stick. Modded Hori Fighting Stick VX. Stock joystick. Sanwa buttons. The wiring looks pretty messy but it's insulated and works. Plexi by blklightning21 (made my own screw holes). My first stick mod. Turned out well!

Awesome Stick My Missus loves Studio Killers

So I'm in the market for a new arcade stick, and I'm torn between the Hori Fighting Edge, Eight Arc Fusion, and SFxTK VS stick. Right now I have the Hori SCV stick, and I'm a little disappointed in it, the buttons and stick don't feel as responsive and clicky as my TE, and neither does the stick. Also, the bottom of the stick is made of this really slippery metal, that slides around on my lap way too much, so this has put me off of HORI products somewhat. The Fusion looks great, but I know its not officially licensed by microsoft, so in the future it could potentially not work right? Im leaning towards the SFxTK vs because it seems the most hassle free and I loved my TE, but two of the 3 TE sticks I've had have pooped out on me, although it happened when my friends were borrowing them, so I'm somewhat skeptical of MADCATZ build quality. Also, the mic port on my TE crapped out as well, which I know is an issue with Madcatz sticks.

So what say you gaf?

What systems are you playing on? Does it need to be dual-modded?

My request at SRK finally got some results. I tried getting the art printed at Art's Hobbies, but my case required a custom template and I never got any word back from the guy on whether he'd do it after emailing him and waiting a week.

So I went to Kinkos/Fedex Office, got it printed on 90lb card stock, and took an exactoknife to it; here's the result.

For the curious, this is the stick template and this is the source PDF I was given to print it with. (Here's one with a BB logo in the corner.)

The paint on the metal frame has taken some heat damage and chipping thanks to storing it in a poor place while I waited on art, so eventually I'll have to get to sanding and repainting it. I'm otherwise really happy with it though! Also considering getting a custom balltop for it, but haven't decided yet.

PCB is a first-gen PS360. Stick is a standard Sanwa JLF with an octogate.

Buttons are clear/black Seimitsus, along with two that were plunger-swapped with orange pearl Seimitsus.

I've decided to sell my Mad Catz TE stick (the red SF4 one; apparently it can have button issues?)... to finance an Etokki Omni. They should be available for order again at the end of the month, can't wait.

I'm very proud of this. The Mad Catz Street Fighter X Tekken Arcade FightStick V.S. Edition was nominated and awarded the SRK Tech Talk 2012 Arcade Stick of the Year honor!

I'm sure it's just as functional (maybe more so, but I have no idea) as the rest of the premium Mad Catz sticks, although I'm really not liking the design of that at all. I still think the first iteration of the TE Fight Sticks are the most tasteful and that they really didn't get improved upon until you start getting into custom work. Although the MvC2 and Chun Li sticks are decent.

The first few batches had problems with a button (or more) suddenly shorting and no longer functioning until you unplugged it from the system and then plugged it back in. Those that were made right before and just as SSF4 was being released didn't seem to have that issue. My roundhouse button would randomly go out anywhere between the first minute and up to three hours.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about the look of the Madcatz sticks from SSF4 onward.

To me, the SF4 Round 2 TE stick is the most beautiful commercial stick yet released:

madcatz-te-sf4-round2.jpg

Just look at that. It's a thing of beauty. Subtle artwork, color-appropriate buttons and balltop, all black case with red trim, which was an improvement over the originals wide sides IMO. It's just perfect, and if you disagree it's incredibly easy to customize.

I've been perfectly content with my original HRAP with Sanwa buttons installed, but if I was ever to get a second stick it would be a toss-up between the Round 2 TE and the Qanba Q4.

Omni's going up for order again soon? Source?

From the makers themselves. Amazing what you can learn when you politely email someone :)
More seriously, their customer support told me that they're currently super busy filling the orders for the new Korean stick.

Once that's done though: "Since we've made this a high priority for the new year and have enough time, we should be able to release a new batch of Omni Arcade Sticks this month."

Now I just hope I didn't jinx my chances of getting one by posting that :p

Hm, that's good to know, especially if I sell it to a friend or acquaintance.

Just want to let people know, anyone that is getting the Crown CWJ-303A stick, it will not fit into the Mad Catz SOULCALIBUR V or TTT2 stick unless you alter the casing (dremel the plastic middle area would be easiest).

Because the Noir layout, we moved the stick/buttons further apart, the hole is no longer the center point.

It will work fine with all other Mad Catz FightSticks though.

I installed one in our Street Fighter X Sanrio stick earlier...

I got one of SFXT sticks off Amazon and it seems to be having problems starting up my 360. I've tested it with my MC Chun-Li controller and that works fine, so it's not the USB slots. I've also hooked the stick up to my PC and all the lights come on fine every time. The problem is that when I hold the guide button down to turn on the 360, it does not turn on. Sometimes I have to try it 4 or 5 times to get it to turn on. Sometimes, after it turns on, the lights on the 360 and stick will cycle like it's looking for a controller again and the stick will turn off and will not come back on until I turn the Xbox off and turn it on again or I unplug and plug the controller back in, either by the USB port or the break-away part of the cord. It doesn't give me any problems at all after the bootup is done. I've tried leaving it idle for a while and it doesn't turn off, even when the 360 goes into away mode. Also, the guide button does not have any problems registering after the bootup, so it's not like button is broken.

Is this supposed to be like this? Do I need to call Mad Catz?

I don't think it's supposed to be like that, you should call madcatz, they will replace it if you haven't opened it up yet.

Also can anyone tell me if it is easy to switch out the buttons/stick of the Hori Fighting edge? Also, how do the buttons and stick feel, is the stick really better than Sanwa?

Damn, is it just me or is the Black SSF4 Madcatz TE stick with the Ryu artwork one of the hardest TE sticks to find at a decent price?

This is the one I'm talking about:

72037.jpg

It's so shwexy, but it must have had a limited run or something. Either that or people love it too much to sell it. It's going on Amazon for $280-$300!

Booyah! Got my Akishop PS360+ PCB in the mail yesterday. Hoping to crack that sucker open in the next week or so and get my mod on. It'll be awesome finally being able to use my TE stick on either console. For a while, I had to struggle with what system to get a fighting game on since I only had a 360 stick.

That is definitely a sexy stick, is that from the slim TE line?

I haven't tried modding my fighting edge & likely won't, I love it stock.

It's all personal preference, but I like the feel of the FE better than stock Sanwa. It's not a huge difference, but I play better on FE than either of my sticks with Sanwa parts. I suspect you can find better reviews than mine, though. :)

I agree with you. FE stick is the best, and I have owned Sanwas and Seimitsus. I sold my FE, but only because I bought a nice Qanba SE to work with all my consoles, and couldn't justify keeping a single system stick for myself. But the FE stick is the best I ever used, and if Hori would sell that stick as parts I would totally buy one to replace my LS-32 (which is also pretty good).

Are the Hori buttons and stick really that good on the Fighting Edge? I've heard the FE stick described as feeling better than the old Hori buttons, but still not as durable and responsive as Sanwas.

Yeah, that's about right.

The buttons are fine, but no better than Sanwa or Seimitsu. For people who like super sensitive buttons, Sanwa are best. The FE buttons are certainly much better than the old cheap Horis. But the stick itself is pretty special IMO. Very precise, quiet and just felt great to me. Then again, I dislike Sanwa sticks; they feel mushy to me. I prefer Seimitsu.

Thanks for the replies guys! This is such a hard decision. Also, does anyone know if Amazon price matches the Madcatz store promo prices?

Hello Arcade Stick enthusiasts,

To help consolidate arcade stick related questions, I thought it would be useful to have a wiki page that covers retail arcade sticks, their manufacturers and their history. Information that could be found easily and managed by the community that knows about them.

What do you think? I've put together some sample pages here:

Main Page: http://arcadestick.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Manufacturer Page Example: http://arcadestick.wikia.com/wiki/Mad_Catz

Product Page Example: http://arcadestick.wikia.com/wiki/Street_Fighter_IV_-_Arcade_FightStick_Tournament_Edition

Of course, this is all a work in progress. I'll be compiling/contributing information as it goes. Right now the main focus is going to be retail arcade sticks but I'm not opposed to hosting other vital tech talk information such as parts, custom sticks, custom stick makers, and modding techniques.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

I think that's a fantastic idea. Thanks for getting it started!

Tech Talk on SRK has always been a great place to learn about buying and customizing arcade sticks, but something like a traditional Wiki site could go far to help consolidate all of the information that can get buried within the forum structure of Tech Talk.

One thing that I would love to see on the Wiki eventually is a breakdown of the different variations of the TE stick, including PCB and USB compatibility differences. Speaking of which, I'm still trying to find either the Round 2 TE stick or the SSF4 TE Black stick for PS3 at a decent price.

This is a great idea for a page that we can provide for questions regarding modding. I would definitely like to see pages with what levers can be dropped into what sticks, any special requirements, known revisions with specifics on what changed, etc.

This is a really good idea. Kinda like the tech area in SD Tekken, which has always been great for the stick you've got covered there. But with community support it will be easier to update/maintain. I guess it can kinda be like the Candy Cab wiki, but more complete since folks know and have a lot more arcade sticks.

I would kill for this stick at a reasonable price.

Arcade Shock still has some in stock for $350 delivered stateside (reasonable price):
