Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Will I be able to play PS2 games on my PS3 with my PS3 joystick? Or is there some compatibility problem? I'm assuming it would be fine because I can play PS2 games with a DualShock3 just fine...

Edit: Just wanted to add that ArcadeShock is awesome and found me shipping that was half price, but still gets to me in the same time. They did this and refunded me the difference from what I had already paid, all without me even asking for such a thing. They rock.

Depends on the stick, I believe.

I'm sure it's just as functional (maybe more so, but I have no idea) as the rest of the premium Mad Catz sticks, although I'm really not liking the design of that at all. I still think the first iteration of the TE Fight Sticks are the most tasteful and that they really didn't get improved upon until you start getting into custom work. Although the MvC2 and Chun Li sticks are decent.

The first few batches had problems with a button (or more) suddenly shorting and no longer functioning until you unplugged it from the system and then plugged it back in. Those that were made right before and just as SSF4 was being released didn't seem to have that issue. My roundhouse button would randomly go out anywhere between the first minute and up to three hours.

uh, what do you suppose the odds are of getting one with button issues now? Asking cause I just ordered one new from amazon.

My Hori RAP3 works fine with PS2 games.

I was able to use my Virtua Stick High Grade and a RAP3 but I couldn't use my Mad Catz TE stick with PS2 games when I had my bc PS3. I think Sony has to actual add support for newer sticks in firmware upgrades, and I don't know if they're even bothering anymore.

I'm pretty new to the fgc, and recently I bought a madcatz SFxT pro stick. Supposedly this is much harder to dual mod than a TE stick? I have no experience in modding, but it couldn't hurt to give it a shot for the learning experience?

I'm debating on whether I want to mod it myself or just hope for an omni to be in stock again.

They aren't too hard to mod.

FS Pros are about the same difficulty as a TE for modding. It's a good stick to learn modding on, I'd keep with it.

I'm in the market to get a SFxT fightpad (PC version of SSFIVAE on sale at GMG too), are they any good? I'd like a stick but am short cash and don't play too hardcore anyway.

Should I get one or skip it?

So a couple of months back, i tried soldering and destroyed my r2 motherboard. I would like to use the stick again. anyone have a idea of how to rewire it and possibly put led lights in it?

If you wrecked the PCB, you'll need a new one. I recommend the PS360+, it's multi-console (PS1,2,3, Xbox 1 and 360, PC, DC) and doesn't require soldering.

For LED, you'll need a controller, LEDs for each button, and translucent buttons. After that it's just plug and play.

Can anybody tell me if Hori is planning on bringing this stick to NA?

With tax-return I'm trying to figure out a few sticks to add to the collection...been waiting a month to see if this will be announced for NA but no luck. MarkMan, any hints? Otherwise, I'll order it from Japan.

So anyone good with modding sticks? I wanted to dual mod my old Namco Arcade Stick from the PS1 (the yellow and gray one) days into one that I can use on the PS3 and 360 if possible. I've got some sites with info on how to do it but I don't know what parts I need and where to get it. Tried poking around SRK for a bit of help but no dice.

One of these?

To be honest, you're much better off replacing the stick then trying to modify that; I recall hearing from a friend who worked on one of the above sticks that there simply isn't enough room inside to fit all the electronics you'd need to make it a triple-console stick.

It'd just be a double console stick, PS3 and 360, really. And yes, that's the one.

http://www.focusattack.com/akishop-ps360-multi-console-joystick-pcb/

There's that, though. One pcb, supports 360, PS3, PS1/PS2 and Dreamcast.

Oh interesting. I wonder if it would fit inside though.

Edit: Oh, it looks pretty small and might fit in there nicely. =O

I just ordered my first arcade stick, which is that Street Fighter x Tekken TE stick on that Mad Catz deal. Couldn't pass that up. Looking forward to getting this puppy in the mail.

Thinking of getting an arcade stick (PS3/360 dpads suck royally), but I'd ideally need one that worked on both consoles if at all possible without breaking the bank. Not needing something ultra fancy since I'm kind of a newbie to the FGC, but I don't want sticks/buttons that'll break soon after getting it.

Any suggestions, or would it be be wiser just getting one for each console?

Just a reminder all. This ends tomorrow night.

check out eightarc, those sticks work on px3/360/pc but they are expensive :|

there's also the Qanba Q4 which is a little cheaper but still comes in at about $150

The cheapest option for a durable stick is getting one of those SFxT sticks Markman just linked while they're on sale, then waiting for the TE Kitty to come back in stock. (I think the TE Kitty is compatible with those anyway, but it might need the VS harness.)

Already spent my spending money on Ni no Kuni (guide + WE) so I guess I'll have to wait till the next sale.

Thanks for the info from the other poster's post, I'll look into those too.

Something I forgot to mention - you have to get the 360 version for most dual-mod options, as the 360 functionality is usually left to the original PCB. Not sure what's going on with that Akishop PS360+.

They don't "fit" into the FightStick Pro's like they do in the regular TE's, but you can figure out something to mount it. It's compatible, but not really supported.

That is the most godlike sub-$200 Hori stick I've ever seen. That needs to get an American release.

Cheap substitute is buying the Hori SCV stick and changing the artwork. Looks essentially the same other than that.

Yeah, I guess that is the same stick in terms of case design and Sanwa buttons. Still, though. I like the whole look of the N3 SA, including the Hori artwork.

Anyone know where I can get ribbon cables for the Madcatz TE like these?

One of my ribbon cables got ripped when I was trying to install the TE Kitty. Been asking the guy who sells them if I could buy replacement cables but I haven't received a reply in a while. :(

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the shop at Godlike Controls? I see a few cable harnesses there. Not sure which you would need.

GDLK Shop

Yeah, I was wondering about those. Asked Toodles and posted in the Tech Talk thread on SRK if they would work fine but I haven't received a reply on that, either.

The ribbon cable I need has 6 pins instead of 5, which sucks since it would be really easy to just get a JLF-TE cable instead. :/
