Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Recently the B,RT, and LT buttons on my Xbox MadCatz SFIV TE no longer work.

Are there any easy fixes for this? I have never opened up my stick so I need some how to instructions as well.

I would like to fix it, buying another stick is not a viable option for the foreseeable future.
You should be able to open the top with an allen wrench and check if the connections are secure on the buttons and that there aren't any breaks in the wires. Otherwise I'd just hit up MCZ support.

The IKEA Lack table puts my HRAP 2 SA

lackmariushrap2.jpg

I was wishing they sold "extra legs" of different heights for the LACK tables, but this is the only one i was able to find. Also got their MARIUS stool pictured, which seems really perfect for Egret/Astro Cabs. But yeah, sadly, stool and table were the same height, i got both anyway, since they were indeed very cheap. Hard to play on this setup lols. I'm currently using the DAVE laptop table, the problem with that is it's a three legged/tripod stand, its very wobbly with heavy sticks/etc on top. but it works for now.

The side table.

OH. dammit. i didn't think of that haha. oh well, good excuse to drive to IKEA again :D fun place.

another question. HRAP2SA comes with normal OBSF's right? not RG's?

Ahh, that is a bit on the short side then.

I'm actually using a MAMMUT stool, so I sit lower than that when I play. I really should have mentioned that. Sorry. :(

Yeah, usually any excuse to go to IKEA is a good excuse. Fry's Electronics is another one of those evil stores.

Yes.

Did you check the turbo setting? I once had problems with my stick and in the end it turned out that the turbo was messing with it, even though the turbo light wasn't on.

What are the chances of PS3 arcade sticks (such as the Hori ones) being usable with PS4?

If not directly, through an adapter? I don't really want to pay another 120 Euro to purchase another stick!

If the PS4 does not support HID controllers, someone will eventually create a passthrough adapter that tricks the system into thinking its a PS4 controller.

Does anyone know if the MCZ TTT2 sticks are dual moddable? I have the 360 version and thinking about dual modding it, I have a MCZ SCV stick for PS3 as well but going to tournaments/sessions with 2 sticks all the time is pretty heavy!

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you mod a 360 controller to work on both consoles.

For the TTT2 stick, you can use either a TE kitty PCB or a Phreakmods Cerberus PCB. Modding your stick with either one shouldn't take too long.

Both are simple modifications that require little to no soldering. You could also use a ps360 PCB but I'm not familiar with the process...

You can dual mod your SCV stick but the process is more involved and requires a bit of soldering.

Anyone have recommendations/tutorials/suggestions for custom stick wire management? I am not looking to make something look pretty, just neat. Was thinking of using 1/4 inch split loom corrugated tubing to manage the button and joystick wires to the PCB.

---------

Edit: found this thread at SRK. Sounds like 1/4 inch techflex and zip ties are the best bet.

To mod a Madcatz Vs stick by adding a pcb do I open the stick from the top where the artwork is or from the bottom? I'm going to try install the cerberus ps3/pc pcb.

From the top, don't open it from the bottom. And remember which wire is which when disconnecting them from the original PCB!

I think I got a busted pcb, after cutting 5x and retrying, I keep getting unknown device on pc when I connect my stick. I'm almost out of USB wire already and probably blew $200...

I had to change my custom art back to stock because the plexiglass was not sized correctly for one and two it isn't a good material to begin with. It is really difficult to clean the thing, you cannot use windex and similar cleaning products, also the material warps and gets sticky in hot temperatures. Back to square one.

I have a predicament. I have waned to change my arcade stick's art for a long time, but I just can't decide what to put. How do you all decide? Do you do certain characters? A whole cast? Just text? Other mediums besides video games?

keep her!

i'm going to tokyo in about 2 weeks... hopefully i'll find some treasure there

If I had the chance, I'd probably just use a cool image of one of my mains. I've thought about changing the art on my TE, but I don't really have anything that can print a nice image worth a damn.

Amazon.co.jp has put up a listing for the WRAP. Slated for August 1st. going by the picture it looks like it might not be clear after all :( Still, the deep colors please me and I'll be adding this one to my collection. Love Hori.

Still looking for a listing for the mini Fighting Stick N3 SA.

Hey fightstickGAF, have we heard any rumblings about whether our PS360 fight sticks will work with the next consoles? I have a dual-modded TE stick that I've literally never used, trying to decide if I should sell it now or hold on to it for the next generation.

I think assuming it won't work would be the safest bet.

got the other Diamond VLX I ordered from SRK (before my gf surprised me with the one she gave me for our anniversary)

twins

family photo: 15AE SF stick (cthulhu+HAPP buttons), TE-S stick (TE Kitty Dual mod + sparky jr, seimitsu buttons), Diamond VLX (button plugs), HRAP VX UMVC3 (stock), TE-PRO (seimitsu buttons), Diamond VLX (stock), HRAP V3 VF5FS (sanwa buttons)

my T6 stick and HRAP 3 are missing from the picture.

the T6 needs to have the metal nubs grinded down and the HRAP 3 needs major rewiring.

Is that full sanwa in your EX2 or did you do the cherry switch thing? I have one that i want to mod.

Hibachifinal would know better than me, but I'm pretty sure you're better off just straight up not modding an EX2. Too much of a hassle. Might as well get a better stick.

EDIT: Actually just trade it in to Amazon.com IMO. They gives good value. BE SURE to include the manual with it. I got automatically downgraded to "Acceptable" just because I threw away the one page manual that basically said "plug in; hit buttons."

this is also true, EX2's are one of the worst things to mod out there, thats why I ended up with of lot of them (cuz people gave up and gave them to me :D).

Woohoo! My Kraylix arcade cabinet came in yesterday.

Had a few misadventures wiring up the Akishop PCBs - first stupidly mixing up the punch and kick wires, then later didn't have the ground wires done right. Just dumb mistakes, but it all came out in the end. I love playing on this thing. Stick ends up at the perfect level for playing and the Samsung LCD has much lower lag than anything I've been playing on.

Need to get some better art for the marquee, but this will do for now.

More pictures here.

Beautiful.

I really want a cabinet but I don't have the space for it ATM :(

Looks good, Beckx! What speakers are you using for the top? I've been having issues finding good sounding speakers that fit in there.

I've just fulfilled a childhood dream of owning Neo Geo hardware.

The stick actually isn't terrible, though I'll definitely build something better at some point in the future. I actually really enjoy the slope of the plastic, it's incredibly comfortable and the size is ideal. The buttons squeaked a little when I got them, but a quick open and clean did the trick. Replaced the super cracked ball as well, though I have saved it just in case I want the original someday.

The Omega hardware is absolutely incredible, by the way. Really feels like a classic console. I've got a multi-cart in there now, but some authentic MVS carts on the way.

Kray suggested Happ speakers, so I got these. The speaker is a little smaller than the opening but the corners extend well over so it was easy to screw in.

All in all I'm satisfied with how they sound but keep in mind I'm not a huge audiophile (or maybe just have low standards, hah). Given how much Happ charges for shipping you might be able to find a better deal elsewhere (I was ordering the coin door at the same time so the shipping didn't matter).
