Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

This leak is shit.

That's just nasty.

Just remembered about this

This is definitely suspect. While the leak one doesn't have the bat behind his head the position of everything else is nearly the same. Hrm.

Oh yeah, I know what would prove it to be wrong I was just curious if there had been any new developments since I went to bed last night that would blatantly make it fake. But it seems it's just either more reaching *or* trying to read (not literally read) too much into the blurry picture to find an error.

Any of the veterans on the CSS that haven't been revealed yet being shown with a render that doesn't match this leak's renders would prove it wrong. Flat out.

The other thing is that people keep finding weird minor things about these images, which end up actually being more accurate to the existing official footage instead of less.

A black bar is too wide, then someone finds it as an actual UI bug in an E3 video. Character UI portraits are missing things, and then someone realizes that it's actually a screenshot from smash run and everything is still correct. It's pretty strange.

If this is all fake the amount of work put into it is really really crazy. But it still just seems too early for a real leak.

Game releases in 3 weeks in Japan. Don't think it's too impossible for stuff to be leaked.

Also are you the KelpPlankton from Marvel Heroes? If so, heya!

I guess I just expect it to be more like last time, where we didn't get any screenshots until the game was basically out.

And yep, that's me, hi!

Be patient man, it won't be much longer until release day anyway!

It's not even the fact that it's a fire emblem character, the idea that a character that represents a new series for smash as well as being the sm4sh version of Ness, Ice Climbers and Pit being worse than a (shitty) clone character as well as a couple other needless characters is just boggling to me.

This leaker is really enjoying this I bet.

I should hope so. This is the most interesting (if somewhat caustic) SmashGAF has been since E3.

Not really. The game is probably in final QA testing in Japan and deep into localization in the US.

They're different actually, and it's fake. It looks really good for a fake, though, so I posted it.

I knew the second Ness picture was fake, I just mistook the current image for being an edit of that one.

Don't they all essentially show the same thing? Now I'm not so sure I've seen all the leaks.
1 shows the CSS and large portraits of Duck Hunt Dog+Ness.
2 claims to show the start screen with several newcomers (chief among them, Shulk), as well as a sub-menu that redirects the player to either the Mii Fighters Menu or the main CSS.(Which would solve the issue of the CSS having to be modified whenever you went into a mode where Miis were unusable.)
3 (which is probably fake) Shows Shulk at a victory screen and in-battle on Yoshi's Island.

Leaker 3's gameplay image on YI:Brawl wouldn't take a ton to prove to be fake if someone bothered to see if Shulk's jab (in the image) matches anyone's jab animation in Brawl. All it would take is for that to match an existing character's animation to prove that image fake assuming the image wasn't done in Photoshop but was instead done using BrawlBox to import a Shulk model (or make one) over an existing character's and rig it up to their animations and then a camera was used to take the picture of it off-screen or whatever.

In fact, now that I think of it more, doesn't that jab look a lot like Ike's jab1? The way the arm is outstretched and the positions of his legs... If only I had a screenshot or something to post and compare. :\

Someone should try and do that comparison.

I mean, of course, it's not uncommon for characters to have similar animations but if it's down to where their legs are placed and how far their arm moves and they're in the exact same spots it would be very telling that the Shulk model was done over Ike.

Well who knows who has access to pictures/footage. There's various places a big game like this goes (QA, PR, localization), and occasionally stuff just leaks. :)

And yep, that's me, hi!

Glad to see you're still around, welcome to GAF! If you still play Marvel Heroes, we have an OT over in Gaming Community, feel free to stop by and say hi!

Just wait til the week before release

Reviewers will spill the beans , even if Nintendo says they will never give them review copies again if they leak, most will leak it to be the first

Thank you twitter age

Though it could always be a simple animation edit. Remember that P:M April Fool's trailer that showed off Slippy as a 'newcomer', which was reasonably convincing in motion with only two new animations?

Too bad, had the leak been revealed earlier in the week or last weekend, the Melee Metroid level would have been more proof it was real.

If it was fake, he worked quickly and reacted quickly to changing news, or just got lucky he picked the same retro level.
