Wrong. Finale Fireworker wrote out a really dumb post about how "size DOES matter" talking about both K. Rool and Ridley that I then snarked about, having been under the impression that NeoGAF was above such things.
It was clearly a joke. You're the one who started lamenting about how nobody was taking you seriously, which started the Ridley conversation.

Have no damn idea why ZZS was chosen over Dark Samus in the first place. I have no damn idea why ZZS is even a playable character in the first place.
Samus has appeared without her power/varia suit in almost every Metroid game. Metroid Zero Mission was a game that took that concept a step further by making you play as her without it, causing you to become more vulnerable and forcing you to really step your game up in order to survive without it. Plus, a visualization of the person inside the suit was needed, both so people who've never played Metroid before can grasp that Samus is a woman and because the first playable female character in gaming deserves to be seen AS a woman. It makes perfect sense to me.

R&D1 takes precedence over Retro. Also this.

I think ass & titties just takes precedent over all when it comes to Sakurai.

I don't either. I'm okay with her being in Smash 4 though, since I hate when fighters get cut.

Indeed. I still dislike her inclusion, but she's established now and cutting vets is never cool if it can be avoided.

I'm content with being happy, since I never thought it was likely we'd get Dark Samus in Smash 4 at all, and an impressive AT like this proves my thesis for a much later argument on the viability of Dark Samus as a distinct character with an interesting moveset.

She's bound to be more interesting than Ridley, anyways.

Yeah, I was happy to see it in general. It's just that.....damn. It looks SO COOL. Could you imagine edge-guarding with those bubbles and that gatling gun? ARRRGGG.

And even though the AT obviously helps your argument, I still don't think Dark Samus will ever be a playable character because of ZZS. Or at least before we get some other Metroid rep that isn't based on Samus.

So... does anyone else think Phosphora is a really bizarre Assist Trophy choice? (Not necessarily bad, just questionable.) I'm playing through Uprising for the third time, and she's a pretty minor character -- I don't see what makes her any more deserving than the other bosses. I'd much rather have Medusa, Hades, or an Eggplant Wizard as an AT. Magnus is a good pick, though.

Yeah, I was surprised to see her as assist trophy but I hope that it would meant something like stage banters, secret characters or something else.

I'm sorry, what? You think Samus being in the Power Suit she's wearing 99 percent of each Metroid game is a disservice because some people won't immediately recognize her as a woman?

Does she need little pink hearts and female symbols painted all over the power suit so it's obvious she's a gal?

ZZS is possibly the least important "character" in the entire Metroid series. I don't give a shit about Other M, and she was included before that game anyway.

And I don't think her as a woman needs to be visualized at all. It's more of a treat in the games if anything. The focus on ZZS in Smash downplays her character and the major traits I've always loved about her if anything to me.

Well, she does appear in two chapters, I guess. Perhaps Sakurai just likes the character?

It's called Bayonetta.

I liked that better when it was DMC and I liked the characters in that game and their designs.

My dream ZSS game is kind of a more... Police woman bouty hunter take on the whole thing. Because clearly she is apart of an organization, so essentially ghost in the shell with samus instead of makoto the game. Then she could rabble on about the meaning of what it is to be human all and alive all she wants

It was clearly a joke. You're the one who started lamenting about how nobody was taking you seriously, which started the Ridley conversation.

You're moving goalposts. So now it's not just whoever mentioned Ridley first, but whoever mentioned Ridley first in a manner you personally don't interpret as 'joking?' Also, I merely said I'm not here to convince anybody, only to garner support from pre-existing K. Rool fans here.

So this is why 'NeoGAF Weekends' are a bit of a running gag on here. . .

That's almost as silly as a hypothetical game where edgy Sonic shoots aliens with machine guns while riding on a motorcycle.

Yeah, I was surprised how minor she was going through.

* looks at other m *

I think its fine.

Epically considering Samus's characterization in any situation where there are other alive speaking people should just be the major.

Also Scourge the hedgehog doesn't exist outside of the comics you know.

Good games DaBoss. Matches were really fun, especially those Metaknight vs Ike matches.

I need to learn the Sheik matchup lol.

I was just confused about what you were intending to say.

AH sorry.

Basically the character the major, from the ghost in the shell series, is what samus's characterization with people should be. Instead of being this subordinate a very in charge, very in control to the point of error . And being the major would come with existentialism ,monologs, missing parents, apart of some sort of organization that is military like, and contemplation on what is and isn't human due to advanced physiological states thing.

I would like a game where instead of dealing with space pirates. It delves more into the people part of the universe with governments and stuff. I wanna see how people live in metriod verse, I wanna see what they do, I wanna see what they look like, what they trade. Is there any more suits? Do other people wear them? Was samus's thing not a singular act? Are the other suit people dicks?

I like lore, shaddup.

Is Samus voiced by Atsuko Tanaka / Mary McGlynn in your hypothetical scenario?

Hmm, so I have those gold Miis from various Nintendo staff, 3rd party developers, and even Nikki! What fighter archetypes fit them?

Thanks for clearing that up.

I don't want any of that in a Metroid game.

Intriguing and all, but Samus is one of the few characters in existence I will always firmly believe benefits more from actually having less character development.

I don't want her to cry about he parents. I don't want her to make illogical mistakes. I don't want her to have any opponent that could truly scare her. I want her to be perfect. Ever since I first played Super Metroid that's what she always struck me as, the perfect bounty hunter. And continuing on into Prime 1, I just feel that trait was so well executed.

I believe video games series can be much more than one thing, I think limiting it is.. silly.

That's just me though.

.. she was making mistakes in super metriod, she had flaws and feeling in metriod prime. Your head canon was ruined a long ass time ago. And then fusion and shit. And metriod prime 2 and 3. And then other m happened.

Also I never said she would be crying, about anything.

I probably ended up giving Reggie and Iwata the same move sets that they had in trailer. I'm more likely to give Miyamoto sword fighter moves.

I wasn't directly going against what you said with the whole crying thing and other reasons. And not really. I can't remember many if any mistakes that she made in those games that were not completely out of her control. And I've played Super Metroid very recently.

And part of what I mean by perfect is that nothing phases her whatsoever in her line of work unless she's about to die which, ya know, makes sense. Like that fucking first Ridley scene in Prime 1. Such a fucking boss. She just looks up at him like, "Wow seriously. Ok whatever I'm gonna grapple now."

Alright I think I've gotta go play Prime now.

Yeah, that's pretty much the perfect scene to show the difference between Prime and Other M. Ridley comes back in Other M and she has a nervous breakdown, Ridley comes back in Prime and Samus is just sick of his shit and chases after him. She even swings her arm canon in defiance!

I do not agree with you, because on multiple occasions even in the game you reference , she is phased by shit .

However, towards the bolded..... ya know who you just described
Huh, maybe emoting might not be so bad, maybe samus emotes more than we realize in some games. Or maybe those two aren't that dissimilar and Sakamoto and toryiama have a waifu pact. I rather dislike lightning, maybe I shouldn't . Or maybe I should hate samus.

After several months I can finally post here and be part of the SmashGAF community. Here's hoping for a character reveal next week to get this place exploding again.

She does emote in that scene, but she shows that she's fucking pissed that Ridleys back. She doesn't cry like she does in Other M. All emotion doesn't have to be terrible!
