Impa has a lot more potential outside of just a clone. She is seen with a blade in OoT and uses lots of weaponry in Hyrule Warriors. She is the shadow sage in OoT and is a sage in ALBW as well which could pull some influence on her moves. She could have something similar to Sheik's recovery but she throws down a deku nut before she disappears stunning those in the area. Her down B could be that magic shield she uses to protect Zelda from Ghirahim in SS. Her side special could be a side sweeping attack where she dashes quickly across the stage with a blade out similar to Fox's just not quite as fast or large of a range but with more power.

I don't disagree with any of that, I was just responding to the topic. I wouldn't mind if Impa did show up on the roster as a clone of Shiek, perhaps with more shadowy properties involved in her moves since Shiek already takes a fair bit of inspiration from her. I'd love to see her as a fully fleshed out character too, but I wouldn't be offended if she weren't, especially since a lot of her incarnations can vary pretty wildly and it might be deemed not worth it to grab moves from all her different variations.

Imagine Anthony Higgns but with Snake's old moveset

Anthony Higgs is a minor character from a horrible game that sold like shit.

I seriously cannot comprehend how anyone could want him.

And who else from the Metroid series would you propose would make sense, then? After Samus and Ridley of course.
There's the guys from Prime Hunters, which are even more minor characters from a horrible game that sold like shit
, even less than Other M
.
And there's the hunters from Prime 3, who are minor characters from an arguably horrible game that sold barely more than Other M, so also like shit.
Plus, Anthony has plenty of moveset potential too.

Dixie: Would essentially be the "Falco" of Diddy Kong, higher jumps, but some different quirks.
Plusle & Minun: The Ice Climbers version of Pikachu/Pichu.
Toon Zelda: Could bring to the table what Toon Link did to Link, maybe have some unique moves, I donno.
Tetra: Just seems right, y'know?
Roy: Already appeared in Melee.
Dr. Mario: Already appeared in Melee.
Bowser Jr.: The size difference would allow for some fun.

I wouldn't even be mad.

Give him Squirtle's Side-B

Option B: NOBODY, ADD NOBODY ;-)

Anthony Higgs would be awesome. Just the sort of "random, nobody wanted him" sort of character I'd love to see show up, and he'd give us another Metroid character to boot. Plus, ice moves! Who doesn't love ice?

I'd be cool with him as a Samus/ZSS clone, though. He's got the same basic arsenal.

Reasons why Anthony Higgs is being remembered:
- He was in Other M's initial trailer.
- He spawned one of the quotes the game is most recognized for, which in turn became an internet meme.
- He is one of the few characters in Other M to actually survive the ordeal (which is something to hold in his favor).
.

I didn't know he said "The Baby." :P

Dark Samus, Mother Brain.

So basically, the two characters already confirmed as assist trophies. Anyone else is a poor choice.

Plus, Anthony has plenty of moveset potential too.
Oh yes, giant laser gun, ice laser gun, and gun! So much potential!

Now stop supporting horrible characters from horrible games.

Bowser Jr should get the same moveset as Bowser, but with a few tweaks. His standard b should be fireballs instead of firebreath, and his down-b should create a shockwave after it lands like in Yoshi Island.

I didn't know he said "The Baby." :P

One of the != the sole. And "The Baby" isn't the only memorable quote from the game either.

Dark Samus, Mother Brain.

Mother Brain playable? Uhh, yeah, right. An enormous brain monster sitting in a glass tube and who is entirely immobile seems like an absolutely fantastic character idea for a platforming based fighting game.

Oh yes, giant laser gun, ice laser gun, and gun! So much potential!

Certainly more potential than, I dunno, a guy who drives a floating car. Or some furry who flies a plane. Or some toy peripheral that can only move its arms.

Now stop supporting horrible characters from horrible games

You have no say over which characters I might like or not like. How about you stop being such a pretentious asshole? I'm not pissing on you for whatever stuff you like, either.

Plus, I've never actually said I wanted Anthony, in any of my posts. I told you why he has some (minor) popularity.

Also, Other M isn't a horrible game. It's not great, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

Man, I can't believe how much I've missed out on by not playing Other M. Time to hit up Amazon.

edit: lol new copies are going for $11. That's even less than I paid for a new copy of Silent Hill Downpour, for cryin' out loud.

$11? That much? They had a stack of Other M copies at a $5 or Less store where I live! (And I still payed too much! At least I got Shadow of the Colossus there, too.)

Other M is a decent game.

If it had a decent control scheme and a cutscene skip option the first time around; I'd agree - the core gameplay is linear and basic, but serviceable. But as a complete package, its droning, monotonous score and tacky visual design combined with one of the worst narratives in any medium drag it down to abyssal depths.

Dark Samus is the only Metroid rep that should have actually been a Smash character. Alas.

Also, Medusa definitely has a lot of potential as a unique character, but given the choice of getting her in as a clone or not getting her at all, I'd definitely be more than fine with seeing her as a Palutena clone. Maybe give her Smash attacks some sort of petrifying quality. I dunno, that might be too unbalanced, haha.

Murasame wouldn't be a new series in that sense though, even if it'd be new to Smash...

No, that's not what I meant. He was acting like Nintendo didn't have that many series to draw from, yet he still pushes existing series aside.

What the heck? We got the same damn Mario characters from Brawl plus Rosalina, who is pretty much Nintendo's star-themed character now and thus took whatever spot Geno might have had had he not been owned by Square Enix. It's not like the Koopalings, Baby Mario, or Pink Gold Peach showed up.

I don't understand why you bring up Geno or star-themed characters. Mario characters dominate the roster, and Sakurai seemed to jump to Rosalina as soon as a new significant Mario character appeared rather than bringing classic characters in. Granted, Rosalina probably was influenced by having more female characters in the game. But it is silly that he acted like Nintendo had no more series to take characters from when there are others he neglected.

And 2 Golden Sun characters isn't? Especially considering how minor Garet is in the grand scheme of things - Jenna seems like a much more likely Mars adept choice than him, or one of the villains from Prox.

I was just talking about Metroid reps. 2 Golden Sun reps is also a bit much. Maybe it's because I haven't played anything in that series though.

ouch. I don't think I've ever played a game so bad I've wanted to skip the cutscenes on my first playthrough, But that video Showmeyamoves linked to kinda makes me want Anthony in Smash now, complete with "remember me?" and "Anthony Higgs, sir *thumbs up* *wink*" taunts.

On another subject, I feel like we haven't seen Kirby in the PotD recently. It's high time for the little guy to make a comeback.

Confession time: The writing in Other M was really bad.

And it was the only truly bad aspect of that game. The gameplay was decent enough to be bearable.

Sakurai's creative. I could see it working if he were willing.

Yeah, surely, Mother Brain has a lot more potential for a playable character than a humanoid soldier who is actually depicted using fighting skills/weaponry.

Said furry and driver actually head popular games.

Metroid Other M outsold every single F-Zero game that was ever made (except maybe the SNES one), and every Star Fox game past Star Fox 64.

Other M absolutely cratered in price at a rate completely unheard of for Nintendo games, so I don't know if using its sales as a metric for anything is a good idea. The game was an abject sales failure.

Mother Brain actually appeared in good games.

Well, upon calling the F-Zero series "popular", anything goes.
F-Zero was popular enough. The failure of GX doesn't reflect the sales of the previous games.

Star Fox 64 massively outsold any Metroid game.

And as Green Mamba says, Other M fucking tanked in price. Most of its sales were at 10 bucks.
