Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XI: Where 90% correct equals 100% wrong

I hope the connectivity means that once I unlock everything on 3DS, I can transfer that over immediately when the Wii U version drops.

9:00 PM PST - Download Wii U version, everything unlocked.

Knowing Sakurai the game could be quite big. Might take awhile to download.

I think what you're proposing is quite obvious and something I've speculated on a lot in the past.

how bout a sing that works like snakes B forward, but slower does no damage and puts them to sleep for a bit. big start up so u can just whip out after taking a hit or something.

Yeah, I don't think I was suggesting anything original. I just hope that's what it is. Although I should clarify that my download will begin at 9 PM. It'll probably finish the next morning... Especially if everyone's downloading it.

I think I am the type of person that would not use the option to unlock everything from the Wii U version through the 3ds version and just unlock all the characters again.

Recall that update with Villagers using their Balloon Fight moves on the Balloon Fight stage ? Bet that is a minigame of several under "Games & More"

I like it! But...what's the single player gonna be under? We know it has it, but where is it?
Also, games & more...guessing the demos from Brawl return? >.>. I mean, it's more content...which means it'll take longer to download.
I assume when you click Smash there will be a versus, classic and event mode all featured under there and when you unlock all star mode. Perhaps smash run is seperate from smash since you can change the characters properties. Challenge, I assume, is the menu similar to Brawl where you can unlock things and see accomplishments. Kid Icarus had something similar as well. Games and more I assume will be minigames to unlock trophies and perhaps other things like break the targets, hit the sandbag, etc. I dont think they will do that game demo thing again.

Is it just me or does the "challenge" option on the 3ds menu stick out like a sore thumb?

Every other option has thick borders and mostly rounded edges and then you have this thin border and perfect rectangle. Looks out of place.

Granted we can't see how they're all animated, so maybe it's by design (which knowing the UX people, probably.)

Wow, I didn't realize how similar Uprising's menu is to Brawl's (and now 4's.) Sakurai must really like that UI scheme to use it in three different games.

EDIT: now that I think about it, Kirby Air Ride had a similar main menu:

Even the victory screens in that game were similar to Brawl's.

Pic of the day. For the first time ever, I present to you…the main menu for the 3DS version!! The icons are even animated. The design concept may look similar if you've played other games I've worked on. But we had a hard time making this one because…

The bottom screen displays pictures matching each mode! This was quite a task for the UI (User Interface) designers, but they made it happen. Kudos to them! You can tap the screen to look up additional info like how to play--complete with diagrams.

Looks great. Awesome week and cannot wait to play today.

He also is married to the menu designer, so he better like it!

Hmm, some interesting questions here.

- Where is the Single Player content? We've definitely seen some sort of "Adventure Mode" looking thing, and I can't imagine they'd cut Classic Mode (though those two things might be one in the same). Are they under Smash?
- What exactly are the StreetPass features? And the WiiU connectivity, for that matter?
- Is Challenge the "Vault" type stuff - unlockables and such? Or is it Event Matches, Home Run Contest, that sort of thing?
- Games & More probably includes unlockables, options, and those various minigames they previewed in that trailer way back when... but what else is in there?

Love the design, though. Very Brawl-like, but the way that Smash flows into Smash Run which shares a curve with Games & More... just beautiful.

I am definately this type of person. Why would anyone deny themselves of CHALLENGER APPROACHING moments if they can help it?

EDIT: I love Love LOVE that the battery life and time displays on the bottom screen

If it's to go to a challenge wall like Brawl, it actually makes a lot of sense in context. Considering you go there to break squares.
