Trophy Shop >>>>> Trophy lotteries.

Also, the way he says "3DS version alone" makes me think there will be exclusive trophies for each version (which makes total sense, so I don't know why it never really occurred to me before.)

Pulling out all the stops for the game? No complaints here! Can't wait to buy those last couple elusive trophies. Great Wily model, by the way!

He said that all the way back when he first showed off the Saria 3DS Trophy.

Who is that in the upper left? Is that Andross' nephew, what's his name?

Thank gosh, it looks like we don't have to put up with random generation to get trophies this time! I was super bummed that 100% completing Brawl was so ridiculously impossible because of having to rely on random drops. Hopefully the shop is biased towards stocking the trophies you don't already have.

The trophy shop is great as a lot of trophies (bosses in Subspace) were ridiculously hard to get.

I hope they're balanced right though. I.E. getting them normally will save you time if you're good enough. You have to grind to get enough coins to purchase a single trophy. I wonder if they will be buyable with play coins lime in Kid Icarus. I can't spare any. Too many Mii Plaza games to play.

I was just counting subscription cost, which is pretty high for cable and satellite. Netflix is cheap, though.

I'm definitely going to pour a lot of money into Smash 4. I'm a big fan and I can't help it if I can afford to. I'm seriously considering getting a Japanese 3DS with a capture card.
I might even get that Amiibo set >.>

I've been saying for years that I wanted to get figures of every Smash character, even last year was looking at some of those expensive ones. Now they're making Amiibos for $15 a pop. It'll be hard not to buy them. Not understanding Japanese though, I'm content with waiting until the game arrives here in NA.

Also, PotD is up. Looks like I have some more crossing out to do!

Hopefully this is a good sign that there's a lot of trophies that are 100% new models. So many of Brawl's were just ones from recent games instead of goin' crazy and having characters who hadn't appeared in any form in over a decade given a 3D form.

Oikonny deconfirmed. Pigma now a shoo-in?

I ask Tanabe if the fact that Samus is female changed his approach to how she interacted with that world, and he reponds that while they were careful about the way they animated her, it wasn’t specifically because she was female but more that they were reticent to “simply make her feel powerful by using powerful looking or barbaric animations.”

“Through the discussions with Retro,” he says, “we came up with keyword ‘elegant’. She’s beautifully elegant, but also powerful.” Tanabe demonstrates what he means by suddenly grabbing his translator by the collar, pantomiming a hand-gun to the translator’s head, and explains that one of the scenarios they ran through with co-creator Sakamoto is how Samus would react to a Space Pirate taking someone hostage.

“What we heard from him is that she would not yell ‘hold on!’ She wouldn’t show any emotions at all, she’d just bring up her gun and hit the pirate with a head shot.” Tanabe loosens his grip on the surprisingly unfazed translator and brings his fingers in one slow sweep up to his own head, and with a verbal ‘bajoooom‘ fires dead-eye, leaning back in slow motion, his hands showing us the arc and splatter of Space Pirate viscera spilling from the cap of his skull.
“She’s very calm, very professional in killing. She doesn’t show any emotions on the surface, but she’s very passionate inside her.”

Real talk, Slippy should be a Star Fox newcomer

Not even joking

He could make gadgets and shit. Hold B to keep making his gun bigger and bigger.

When fully built, it's a goddamn space bazooka.

Reading that huge archive of the Brawl Dojo, this Sakurai quote seems interesting:

Wonder if that's why he decided to do the PotD where people can comment on every update he makes. Also, it'd explain the reps asking for feedback in E3 with the Smash demos. It seems that despite what some people want to believe, he does listen to the fanbase.

Unrelated, but if I had a lot of free time I'd love to read the reactions to megatons in that Brawl thread, like newcomers and new modes. It must have been awesome.

Wow thanks for bringing this up! I do remember this from some time ago. Pic of the day and Miiverse are actually fantastic combinations to figure out the fans, especially the ones who already own the hardware. Granted there are a lot of idiots requesting a lot of zany things but that's everywhere online. Despite Sakurai saying in the English and Japanese that his team reads all the responses I know some people still doubt it and I think to myself why? There are always going to be people playing around, drawing weenies here or there and requesting anime Goku forever but there are real costumers as well talking about legitimate things regarding Smash. Why wouldn't a game company have a small team people on Miiverse just scrolling through to check on the general consensus of things?

Didn't Ike's fire change in the last direct to blue for one of his attacks? The day Ike was revealed I mentioned with all the Miiverse complaining about no blue fire, Sakurai would have it changed before release. Though a few folks here thought there was no way Sakurai and the team would be reading Miiverse posts and taking them into consideration.

If we could rally all of SmashGaf I bet we could actually make something tangible happen in smash.

BOOM!

No one talks to my friends like that.

Wouldn't this confirm Sonic is a starter now? I don't remember there ever being unlockable characters appearing in the menus besides the intros.

LOVE trophies, so that's something I'm glad to see. I'm betting we'll see over a thousand between the two games. I'm excited just thinking about it. All that unlocking...!
