I know, I know!

inb4 after receiving feedback and complains "Chrom replace Lucina" announcement DUN DUN DUUUN!

IIRC there may have been a tweet or something about a "surprise" as SDCC, can anyone prove me right?

Probably beaten, but here.

And I'm just jumping in the convo now, but is anyone ACTUALLY considering buying only one smash or the other? I just assumed everyone posting in this thread will be picking up both versions regardless of content or quality.

Getting both but Wii U version will be the one that gets most use in the long run.

If NoA is doing the teasing instead of Sakurai, then there's just going to be a contest, giveaway, or "celebrity" tournament. That's the way it is.

I'm kinda hoping a lot of that is gone by the final release honestly.

That's also why I dislike that they're reusing Brawl's menu style (and making the layout upset my OCD because of how incredibly shitty it is), it's got that "here we go again" feeling except it's not a fun "here we go again" like C3P0 said, this time it's an actual "here we go again"

I kinda like the menu style of Brawl/KIU/Kirby Air Ride, so I am glad it is back ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It could just Reggie appearing via pre-recorded video talking about Smash, thanking the fans and then holding up an Amiibo of Fox saying "That ain't Falco".

well, at least it wasn't a jarjar reference

I agree that the similar layout looks uninspiring, and the bunch of icons thrown at you makes them look kind of ugly, but hey, I should care more about the game mechanics, please Aerial Lag reduction confirmed!

While we wait for the tourney, I figure I'd ask SmashGaf a personal question.

I'm leaving to Israel for a year on Oct. 12. I'd call myself a hardcore gamer but I'd really love to spend some time away from games in general and travel the world (the school I'm going to is a gap year program that travels throughout Europe and Asia exploring Jewish communities. Have of every month is spent traveling, the other half is in dorms in Jerusalem). I definitely going to bring my 3DS even if it's just for plane ride entertainment, but the question is, do I bring my Wii U? I wouldn't be coming back to America until June 2015, so Smash 4WiiU will already be released.

TL;DR Do I bring my Wii U with me on my gap year, or try to distance myself from video games for a year?

Not a fan of the new UI for 3DS. I can see the 'S' flow they were going for and it's interesting but the whole thing just feels overly noisy and discordant for my tastes :/

As for versions, i'll get both. The Wii-U will be my main and the 3DS is the 'preview'/backup so I can get some games in if all the Wii-U stations are busy at fight meetups and the like :3

It's just a menu style. One he's used in many games, not just Brawl.

I wouldn't, in your position. Not worth the hassle. I'd definitely take my 3DS and Vita along in case I wanted a gaming fix, but those would suffice.

Other than that, just enjoy the trip!

It might be too arduous to lug it around a significant chunk of the globe. If you have your 3DS, you'll still have Smash, anyway, so I'd say leave it.

Also, didn't BGBW say he'd be at Hyper Japan, too?

Either way, the Twitch stream starts 2 hours before I get home from work, so hopefully it's done by the time I get back so I can watch it from the start in the archives. I'm not even expecting a shred of new info, but I think it'd be cool, and being mostly-official, we better be freed from camera footage and see the game directly.

Well the menus look as fantastic as always. Oh boy, I can already see myself putting a worrying amount of hours completing the challenges and playing Smash Run. Can't wait!

I'm excited for both versions, but the 3DS version interests me the most. I spend a lot of time at the university during each semester, so having a handheld Smash Bros is like a godsend for me. Also, Smash Run is still the most exciting thing that's been announced thus far for me.

I thought that #Bringmesmash that was posted above said Gilgamesh and I was really confused lol.

That would be cruel and unusual.

I thought it was referencing that gematsu leak...or am I wrong?

I think you're right, was just curious if the wording was a joke too?

I'm gonna get the wii u version day 1. Already it's looking quite expensive if I want to get that GC adaptor >.<

but my lil brother will probably want me to buy him the 3DS version ...but i'm sure he can wait ..until next year .. :P
