Thanks for the list.

Submitted my friend code, I'm going to add the fellow European players. There's very few of us so far D:

There are quite a few in the thread I'm sure, maybe people just haven't added themselves yet?

I know I'm not adding myself to the list just because I don't want to play the 3DS version with gaf (or online much at all honestly, I'm just going to unlock all the custom equipment and moves and then play in the training mode until the WiiU versions release and I can get some proper games going), probably will add myself to the WiiU list though.

I'd love to see a pokemon character with evolution as a mechanic now that sakurai seems to have no qualms about having super meters on the screen (little mac), but I guess that would go under "no transforming characters".

Bowser has a Mega Evolution.

I could only ever see one Pokemon in Smash being playable with an evolution mechanic, and it's a quadpedal fighter with 8 evolutions.

Don't blame Sakurai, blame the idiotic Greninja/Charizard fanwank.

Squirtle...
He didn't even know greninja was popular when they decided, he just chose the coolest looking one to him. Besides, greninja is awesome :3 my only beef with charizard is that IMO he was the weakest out of the 3. His moves were just trash, if they fixed his shitty moves and make him good it would ease the pain :)

Delicious turtle soup now.

Mmm...

Needs more turtle drop kicks.

The main course.

I don't think you necessarily need Eevee to be a transforming character, though. If you give it a pretty simple moveset you could just have it apply various elements and add additional properties to moves when it evolves. I.E. Jolteon gets faster and gets electricity, Espeon doesn't get a speed increase but has stronger specials, Sylveon gets higher jumps and better aerials...

I don't know if that'd be particularly fun, but it might be neat to try.

This might be a frequently asked question but is there somewhere I can read subjective character impressions ? (i. e. people giving their general feeling, instead of purely technical stuff)

Have you tried SmashBoards? They're usually pretty comprehensive on their coverage.

So the build is different from E3 right

Nope, it's same one but loading between Victory screen have improved tho. Apparently people said that they announced that E3 demo is pre-Smash Direct demo. It could meant that many thing have been changed between that time to release date.

It hasn't been announced yet but just comparing footage from the smash direct and the E3 demo you can see that the E3 demo is less polished than the direct version in terms of character visuals so it's a pretty safe guess to make.

The loading hasn't changed either, the IGN video where it happens instantly is just because the game ends during megamans final smash, I've never seen it end that quickly anywhere else.

I think personally classic sonic would have fit in really well with classic megaman and classic pacman because the generations model is so, so good. But yeah, the sm4sh model doesn't look horrible so that's the best you can hope for really?

I think this would just look even better in smash though, but they would have to give his moves a bit of an overhaul due to it not really fitting classic sonic.

Honestly, I think Sonic has the worst moveset in Brawl in terms of design. They had to take a lot of creative liberties with it, and it shows. 3 of the specials look really similar, most his moves that aren't him in a ball aren't very good, etc. But Classic Sonic would require even more work than Modern Sonic to work in Smash. Megaman works because his games are designed heavily around power-ups, giving him a bunch of moves to choose from. Pac-man works by borrowing moves heavily from other Namco games. Sonic's design does take some inspiration from Virtual Fighter, iirc, and that certainly wouldn't work with Classic Sonic.

FALSE.

Before we learned his Brawl moveset, I had a revelation! A vision! A vision of this:

Moves would be based on the powerups from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 / And Knuckles.

Up B: Electricity shield bounce - Shoots electric sparks down while propelling Sonic up
Side B: Fire shield dash - Shoot forward quickly in a ball of flame (no start-up lag)
Down B (Aerial): Water shield bounce - Shoot downward and bounce (meteor smash)
Down B (Grounded): Spin dash - Tap B to build speed. Release down to dash
Neutral B: Instant shield - Sonic's powerup-less split-second invincibility
Taunt: Jump on a computer monitor, makes a ring noise

Go play the game again if you don't remember any of those. It'll be fun!

On second thought, it might be better to keep the spring as Up B and assign the electricity shield to Neutral B. His Up B is great, he doesn't need any nerfs.

I know the history, but we also have Sakurai's comments about not wanting the surprises ruined like what happened with Brawl's SSE and the characters that showed up during it. Its why I still think he'll reveal the full roster himself before launch.

He was specifically talking about videos though. Something completely non-interactive that can be experienced outside of the game itself. So, when you can see them outside of the game, seeing them in-game wouldn't add anything and would be pointless.

Unfortunately, the movie scenes we worked hard to create were uploaded onto the internet. You can only truly wow a player the first time he sees [a cutscene]. I felt if players saw the cutscenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I’ve decided against having them [for the upcoming Smash bros].

Unlocking characters is a different matter. It's also a gameplay mechanic, so, even if the character is spoiled, you still have other things to look forward to. Don't forget that Kid Icarus Uprising was done after Brawl, and even there he kept almost all the content after the Medusa chapters a secret until launch.

On the other hand, I'm not saying I expect many new unique unlockable characters that'd be kept hidden until launch. Considering both Melee and Brawl, we'd be looking at a very low number of them anyway, which could still result in disappointments from people expecting a large line up of unlockable unique newcomers, like what happened with Brawl.

Out of curiosity, what character visuals are you talking about specifically? I've been rewatching the direct and I'm not seeing much.

There's already a thread on the Smash Board asking if Bowser will be banned from competitions.

And I thought SmashGAF was crazy.

It rings to me as "Hey fuckers, this game won't have any of this nonsense Latin or Subspace shit throughout! THIS IS JUST A PARTY FIGHTING GAME LETS GO"

Reminds me of the first time I heard the Meteos theme through the DS speakers. Ahh nostalgia

Megaman actually has an expression on his face during the direct final smash, Samus' zero laser during the direct has better visuals etc.

Pretty sure there were a couple of other things but I've forgotten, there was a thread on smash boards about it.

Also lol at Bowser being banned from competitions, he doesn't even seem that good...
