There are some stages that are in both versions (Such as the boxing ring, battlefield) Although I don't know if there will be series-related stages that debuted in this game in both versions.

Paper Mario as a clone or an alt would be tragic, though. I think I finally understand what JoeInky means when he says that he'd rather have no Ridley than a Ridley who's just a stage boss. Paper Mario being in the game but not a unique character would hurt more than anything.

Second part of the stage is gorgeous. Shame all that water is put to waste. I actually liked the swimming in Brawl since it at least made sense to not fall to your doom at a rapid pace down to the water as is the case in Smash 4.

Haha, I have a moveset I made for him for Brawl lying around somewhere. A lot of potential there.

The way the description reads it'll be like a pop-up book, so I don't see why it can't just transition to Rogueport, or any other PM/TTYD/SPM/SS location for that matter.
