Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XI: Where 90% correct equals 100% wrong

Last Story had the superior armor customization system but XB had far more pieces and the Gem system. The only really unique Hat/Helmet armor in XB are all eyeglasses. Pffft.
Yeah, I'm really only concerned about appearances in this matter since it's one of those beefs I've had with RPGs for a while. Armour changing your appearance is cool but when the best armour looks ugly while the look you really want is weak you feel a bit annoyed. Also being able to change the colour of things was cool too, which is another problem with Xenoblade since a lot of stuff can easily clash.

Ahaha, this just showed up in my Instagram feed:

People are LOSING THEIR SHIT in the comments about an early release and people already having the game.

Oh, Internet. Never change!

My early New Leaf copy was more legit than that:

Oh my god, this is AWESOME. I can't *wait* to see this stage in the actual game. I actually liked Sticker Star in the end, but TTYD representation is incredible. Really hoping for a Wii U version too!

We've been talking about Ridley for nearly a decade -.- I don't think a bit more discussion is gonna lead to any closure.

pls samurai

So far this week have been fantastic with POTD, so I'm curious to see what kind of updates that we are getting for next 3 days!

Since there aren't many PotDs left before the release, hopefully this means we'll be getting a lot more like this in the future. We still haven't seen any new Kirby or DK stages, after all.

Sadly, I'm sure you're right. The two track will most likely be

Fuzzy Plains

Honestly lends itself quits well to Smash.

And the Battle Theme

EDIT: GOOPER BLOOPER IS IN ?!?!?!?!?!
Sticker Star was definitely one of the most boring Mario games I've ever played and I hate knowing it was originally going to be PM3, but on the flip side it probably has the best soundtrack of the series so I'm fine with only having SS tracks in the 3DS version.

Be nice if PM2's title theme got remixed in the Wii U version tho. Easily one of my favorite games of all time.

Was it confirmed that swimming is gone? I didn't see that.

You fall through the water in Tortimer's Island, so swimming is most certainly gone (at least in the 3DS version).

EDIT: Of course, it could be that the E3 build (which was also used at SDCC) simply did not have a swimming mechanic implemented, but I highly doubt that they'd let people play on an unfinished stage.

i thought it was confirmed gone from both versions a while back also will this stage be #banned?

Now we dare have a wonderfully evil Mexican Standoff.

Paper Mario or Dr. Mario as clone/unique

Baby Bowser/Bowser Jr. or Paper Bowser

or...do we clamber for any other unlikely dreams?

Oooh okay. Well on the Tortimer Island stage, does the walkable ground expand below the water? Like, will players wade into the ocean and still be walking?

I've heard so many mixed things about Sticker Star that I still haven't gotten it. Was hoping to find it cheap to make up my own mind but I guess they get stock low so the value didn't really drop. Maybe one day.

Well, not to build any more false hope, but doesn't Sakurai usually tell us when a stage is exclusive to the 3DS version? He did it with Balloon Fight, Tortimer Island, Golden Plains, the Tomodachi stage, ect.
That's true. But something about the way he worded the Wily's Castle post makes me feel like it and the Boxing Ring are the only two stages available in both versions (outside of Battlefield and Final Destination, of course).

Sakurai's been making good on his promise that the 3DS version will mostly have stages from handheld games. Interesting to know that of the 21 stages we know that will be in the game, only 8 of them aren't based on handheld games. Among the stages that are, every single one of them is based on a 3DS game with the exception of the Spirit Tracks stage. (Gerudo Valley is technically representing OoT 3D)

That's how I feel about it too. I was so excited at the idea of a portable PM game, and then when it came out...the backlash!

One day I'll play it just because I like the PM series. That day won't be for a long while though.

Oh man, it'd be neat if the Blooper in the background slapped its tentacles in sync with the music.

Also, I noticed Sakurai did NOT say the stage was exclusive to the 3DS version like he has for others, so there is hope!

Fruit that can heal you grow on the trees and randomly drop, so yes, it's #banned.

Not necessarily. There was a time when Green Greens was legal, and that was a far worse offender than this stage. However, it is still very likely to be banned.

Still though, a lot of stages in the 3DS version are borderline, like Rainbow Road. There's definitely gonna be a lot of debate as to which stages should be legal.

EDIT: Also, hazards =/= ban for all cases. Halberd was a counterpick in Brawl, after all. That's why I said Rainbow Road is borderline, since its legality completely depends on how easily reactable/deadly the karts driving by are.

Is it worth pointing out the Blooper they're using is the version from Thousand-Year Door as well and not the one from Sticker Star or Super Paper Mario? Still getting a feeling this is going to be more of a 'best of the series' stage and won't just stick to SS's locales.

It is worth pointing out, as I totally didn't notice that. Awesome!

It makes sense to use the TTYD Blooper since he's appearing on the TTYD section of the stage. It would be really nice if there are four transformations in all, one for each Paper Mario game (Shy Guy's Toy Box and Overthere transformations pls)

I would love to see a castle bleck section...if only for the 3D possibilities.

Talking about music, if this game is meant to represent all the Paper Mario games, it will probably have a Medley as one of it's two songs, meaning we'll get parts of five or six different songs.

Man I hope the WiiU gets a Paper Mario stage

also

Controversial opinion time warning warning

Transforming stages are the worst. They're always super awkwardly done and bum me out :( I wish they were two separate stages
without stage hazards
and 2 music tracks each.

Depends how they're handled. Pokemon Stadium is normally great, but Castle Siege is super awkward how you have this weird 'teleport' transition screen from section to section you spend awhile in.

This stage makes me want to get the 3ds version. Hopefully there is a Wii U version. Also speaking of 3ds, does anybody have a clue why Kid Icarus Uprising is so expensive.

The Crystal Palace from Paper Mario and the Enigmansion from Sticker Star could also make for cool stages. TTYD's Excess Express would be fun, too, but Spirit Train already has that covered.

Also, Arena Ferox seems to be a much more refined version of that concept. It didn't seem to impede the flow of gameplay nearly as much as Castle Siege.

I think it's because most retailers don't sell it anymore. I just recently downloaded it from the eshop because I was unable to find a physical store that had it. It's probably because of the stand that is packaged with it, which I was worried about not having but I've been able to play without it with no problems.

I just remembered I downloaded Paper Mario on the Wii VC years ago.

Guess I have to plug the Wii back in.
