Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XI: Where 90% correct equals 100% wrong

Uh... 30%. Golden Sun had two GBA games, each sold better than Xenoblade, and Isaac ended up being an Assist Trophy in Brawl.
I still haven't played Golden Sun and I love Xenoblade, but I don't see the situation being much different. Honestly, Shulk wouldn't be that popular without Gematsu.

The thing is, sales have never been an indication of inclusion.

Now the psychopath version:

Metal Gear?
joke

Of course, but they're an indication of popularity. Shulk may be popular among gaming boards, but it's most likely just a vocal minority. Most Miiverse users keep asking "who's Shulk?".

Here's the thing, popularity has never really been an indication of inclusion either.

I mean, ROB, Ice Climbers, Game and Watch?

Going by sales of Path of Radiance and Radiant dawn, I bet that a gigantic swath of people had no idea who Ike was. But here we are, two games later and he's a stable veteran.

Those are historically important Nintendo characters. Xenoblade is a newly enstablished franchise, which isn't even that popular outside of the core audience.

While all rules are invalid and only good for speculation, I'd argue there's value in having Shulk now that Xenoblade is a franchise that Nintendo has been promoting quite a bit in most of their directs.

My point is moreso that there really are no rules. It's hard to give a percentage on anyone because Sakurai really kind of does what he wants. I've really learned my lesson to never count anyone out.

Even Isaac?

and Ridley?

With Sakurai, anything is possible. I'd say both have fair shots. (Ridley less so due to the stage boss tease. But fuck it, it's Sakurai. You know he could be trolling)

Of course, massive heartbreak and disappointment through trolling counts as anything.

Yeah, I'm just not very confident about him. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

I wonder if 'transforming' stages will have final destination forms. If they do, which form do they choose? Is it random? Is it a neutral platform but the background still changes? I wonder!

Some thoughts: there isn't a hard and fast limit on stages. They are limited by resources, but there's nothing saying "well, we need room for the Mario 3D Land Stage, so scrap that Mario Land 2 stage".
The limited resources are what I'm referring to with the fact that most franchises are going to get new stages. Given those 2 things, I would think giving priority to a newer game having a stage over an older game is what the decision comes down to.

I completely forgot Wario Land is a handheld series lol, but yea, that would be perfect.

Probably the safest guess you could make for a newcomer at this point.

The safest guesses currently based on facts that we have are Ridley and a Rhythm Heaven rep.

The only evidence for Shulk is from a leaker who is potentially fake or just has massively out of date information.

Hell, there's more evidence for K. Rool than Shulk at this point, even if that one may be grasping at straws, atleast those straws are actually in the game.

Shulk probably is in though, but I'd only give him a 60% chance so there's no way I'd call him the safest guess.
