Sadly Dixie and Ridley are the only ones who have only been speculated on for what ever reason. Also aside from foul mouth guy, the others are reputable as far as I know. Oh and no one knows if these are all the rest of the newcomers.

It's worth a look that's for sure and I mean we are getting extremely close to launch, someone is bound to leak something. Still even the guys who leaked this stuff are saying take everything with a grain of salt since they didn't see everything for themselves.

i know duck hunt is a big deal in the states and can understand why people would want representation for it but in japan wouldn't playable duck hunt dog be about equivalent to asking for playable hogan's alley criminal

Man...at this point, I just wanna see Other M Ridley as a boss. If he manages to get one of the other iterations of Ridley to be playable, that would not only be amazing, but quite an achievement in Smash Bros game design.

There's a vague allusion to him with a rock pattern that kind of looks like his head if you squint and some bananas that look like a crown.

He's basically a main character.

His last appearance was not DKC3

I think K. Rool, Mewtwo, and Ridley are going to be playable bosses. Just a guess...

I know I've said that Ridley just being a boss is not a worthy payoff to all the teasing he's done, but if playable bosses is actually a mode, I can see Sakurai thinking that that is a worthy payoff and that noone would be disappointed by that.

I know I would be... Very much so.

CF bombed... in terms of reception. It was still amongst the Wii's best sellers. They aren't going to ignore that on Wii U, trust me.

It sold about 3.5 million copies worldwide, while being one of Nintendo's flagships for a holiday and during the Wii's peak. It was considered a disappointment at the time, and Nintendo likely doesn't look at it as a strong franchise for consoles.

Now, it's true that the game had many problems, like basically being just an upgraded port of the DS game...

There was a good post I read about how Sakurai teases newcomers for long periods (remember all the Palutena stuff?) of time, whereas he pretty much quickly deconfirms characters instantly like he did with Waluigi, Takamaru, etc.

So it is interesting he hasn't just come out and said "Ridley is a boss, fuckers". already.

I'm in the camp that's 100% sure the Ice Climbers are coming back since they have an enemy from their franchise in Smash Run. It's the same reason why I'm sure we're getting a Rhythm Heaven character as playable.

If he did have two Ridleys in the game (He's not, either Other M ridley is going to be playable or he's going to be a boss), I don't think it would be that hard to have a non-other m ridley playable.

It would just have to be a unique Ridley model like in Melee rather than an asset port like a lot of characters are.

I genuinely believe the NoA reps that were taking down feedback were actually noting it down and hopefully sending it to Sakurai, but I have no confidence in Sakurai as a developer to listen to feedback and instead just make the game he personally wants to make.

Sm4sh might be fixing a couple of problems with Brawl but for me personally it's hasn't been enough to repair the damage it caused to my opinion of him as a developer, hopefully the final release will change my mind but whenever I read comments he makes pertaining to the competitive community it's always knocks that hope down a peg or two.

I'd say DK64 is a mainline DK game, although that doesn't really help K. Rool's case: it only means his last major appearance was '99 rather than '96. Not a whole lot of difference, there.

I hope they keep Boss Battle mode. It shouldn't be hard to raise their speed, damage and knock back to make 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 1 battles against them viable.

And the main reason is people seeing the Kremlings being acknowledged in Smash Run, K. Rool is going to be in the game in some form higher than a trophy or sticker, be it boss, assist or playable.

But the Tikis have also appeared as Smash Run enemies. The Kremlin cameo might just be due to Jungle Japes appearing in the 3ds game, since that stage has Klaptraps.

I guess a lot of it is speculation (except the SHADOWANALYSIS which is one of the bigger things for me, if he's that small I don't see why he shouldn't be a playable character)

But there's a lot of stuff based on quotes from Sakurai and the way he's handled other character deconfirmations that all points to him being playable to me.


Of course, if there's a playable boss mode this could all just be pointing to that because I can see Sakurai thinking that that's what people wanted out of Ridley and would enjoy, but I can't(or won't) imagine him being that stupid.

Duck Hunt Dog and Bowser Jr. sound extremely unlikely, not to mention the fact that I don't believe we need another Mario rep. Ice Climbers being cut also smells funny to me, I don't believe Sakurai would cut such an original moveset.

No, I want a game that's tilted more towards offense than defense, not as bad as it was in melee, but definitely more than in brawl and (current) smash 4.

Combos are my favourite part of melee and 64, and seeing them removed in favour of the poking to death playstyle is disappointing.

I've been thinking...

We've got a lot of characters where they can switch between Male and Female like WFT, Villager, and Robin.

What if the Ice Climbers are turned into the Ice Climber, with selectable Popo and Nana, if Sakurai ran into difficulty with them? Maybe buff 'em up in exchange, with a new Up-B (the Condor)?

I'd take that honestly. Never really got into the IC playstyle, but I like the characters.
