I think that's pretty likely given that we already have a Pac-Land stage and that making Pac-Man anything other than yellow is way weirder than giving him a hat.

I have a strong feeling that'll be something he'll get, instead of having different shades, he'll be getting accessories.

I wonder what all the accessories Pac-man has worn through the years. I only know of the red hat in Pac-land and his brown hat in the cartoon series. Dunno much else besides different colored gloves and sneakers.

Speaking of Greninja trailer, rewatching it again really shows that the silhouette actually HAS the webbings, it's just that they're transparent rather than being all black.

Also I noticed that Reshiram's crotch fluff is too solid

Also the fact that Sakurai has now said he doesn't want to reveal everything and keep some things a surprise supports the idea that Ridley as a boss hazard was indeed a tease and nothing more.

I'd believe this if not for the fact that he first teased Ridley a whole year ago and not yesterday. Again, it goes directly against what he's said before and it was no way near close to release when he was first teased.

This potd says he doesn't need to describe a stage this close to release, that does not go against what he said last year about not wanting speculation about character inclusion based on tweets/images.

What if nintendo made ridley an amiibo trophy, and the only way to play with him is if you have his amiibo trophy? It would seem like an evil, but genius move. I don't think nintendo would do that, but it would sell amiibos

Really doubt we'll get a non-yellow pacman color. Figure he'll be like sonic and they'll just tint him slightly and recolor his gloves and boots.

I'm rereading the comment and I'm not seeing it. Was there a second comment I missed?
There's not much to it, he says he doesn't need to give us all the details because we can easily find out about it when we get the game. As a result I would be surprised if his Ridley tease followed a similar way of thinking; he shows us a recognisable shadow and we'l discover the rest when we get the game.

People have read a lot into why only a shadow was shown and this update confirms that Sakurai is willing to hold information back for the player's to discover on their own.

Considering the Sonic palettes are much more differentiated in SSB4 compared to Brawl, I wouldn't be so sure. I could see either happening.

Hmm. Nothing about what he says in today's update gives me the idea that he definitively won't be revealing every character and/or stage before release. Neither does it give me the idea that he definitely will, but I don't think anything he said today confirms this either way.

Platinum is a better Pokemon game than the whole of gen 5. Seriously gen 5 had 0 redeeming factors for me besides N.

Eh, Gen 4 is by far my least favorite for a variety of reasons... music, graphics, sluggish battles, region, Pokémon, you name it. Gen 5 felt like a much-needed breath of fresh air to me. Different strokes, I guess!

Mr. Serebii said something interesting in the N's Castle thread.

Black & White are four years old. With that logic, the Zelda/Sheik transformation in Melee was a spoiler...

The gap between OoT and Melee was shorter than the gap between Pokemon BW and SSB4. I need to lay down...

To each their own and that's fine.

To me though Gen 5 had a whole host of problems. For starters the region was designed in such a way that accentuated the "Get 8 badges" progression layout. I mean it was pretty much a strait path to each town. Then there was the Pokemon... Ugh. I hated almost every single one. At least in other gens I could still catch the old ones though! In this I had to slog through the game with some of the ugliest pokemon ever! That brings on another point... In gen 4 if I wanted a pokemon I could actually go out and catch it as long as it wasn't a legendary or a starter. It hasn't been that way since the original gen 2! Going from that to gen 5 was a nightmare! Seriously... Almost every single poke I wanted had to be brought there through some convoluted process. The main characters looked pretty ugly to me too and don't even get me started on those back sprites... And some songs could have been good if they weren't stuck on the awful DS speakers. All the musical flourishes make some songs sound like band practice on those terrible things

I'm not saying he will or won't reveal Ridley before release, just that those who think there was some special reason for just showing his shadow have less of a leg to stand on when Sakurai has just revealed his reasons can be literally be 'because I can'.

That's not exactly what we're talking about, it's not necessarily to do with the amount of character reveals.

I've said in the past that I see a high chance of Ridley being playable because of, well, multiple reasons, one of those being a quote from sakurai where he stated that he doesn't like it when a tweet or image from him leads to needless speculation about a character inclusion because people get their hopes up and then get angry when it turns out the teasing was about nothing.

But apparently, him believing he doesn't need to describe a stage this close to release, means that he's fine with withholding any kinds of information now, even if it goes completely against what he's stated in the past.

Ridley is either going to be playable, or there's going to be a playable boss mode.

Personally I can't see playable bosses being fun based on what the yellow devil's moveset is and I can't see sakurai believing that this would be a worthy payoff to all of the teasing about Ridley he's done so far.

I skipped Gen 5 because I did not like the Gen 4 games, but I did like the Pokemon they added. The a lot of the designs were still pretty great even up to that point.

Gen 5 has the weakest designs imo. I have Pokemon X, and there are still some I cannot identify till this day.

Gen 4 also had the best overworld music.

I agree with you except for the music and pokemon. I actually kinda like Gen 4's music. Even Brawl's remixes.

Just addressing the bold:
  1. The fact B&W only had the new Pokémon for the first half actaully pleased me because I always like to try out the new 'mon with each new generation.
  2. I actually like the character designs in B&W, they were far more down to earth in some ways. B2&W2's guy design however is one of the worst in the series. First time I played as the female as a result.
  3. You could always use headphones.

Lttp and unrelated to what everyone else is talking about: I really gotta hand it to Bill Trinen for having the guts to post his opinion about Melee in comparison to Smash 4 probably knowing full well how personal a lot of Melee fans would take it, especially considering a handfull of Melee guys know him and follow him on Twitter. He never said that he didn't like Melee anymore and he didn't even say that Smash 4 is going to be better than Melee (even though he should and probably does think so), all he said was that going back to Melee no longer feels right, which is perfectly reasonable for anyone, let alone someone who has most likely played Smash 4 every other day for hours on end. Updated builds with new characters, stages and mechanics might I add. A lot of people may have taken it as an insult to Melee, which it wasn't, it was more a testiment to how good Smash 4 feels to play for him, which is something that Smash fans should look forward to feeling themselves.

So Nintendo Direct Monday for Hyrule Warriors...Zelda character reveal?

Direct ends with a trailer of musuo link fighting ganondorf and ghirahim/demise, two smash invitation letters fall out of the sky and ganondorf and ghirahim/demise just pack up and leave for smash, leaving musuo link confused.

Not my idea, but that would be pretty funny
it would also be in favour of the trophy quiz theory, which is another argument for ridley
.

To be fair, after playing brawl for a long time going back to Melee feels wrong too. They so different that it takes a good while to get back into the swing of things
