Oh cool N's Castle is a stage? Hope it has some BW music with it. Thanks
Appears so

Pic of the Day: Reshiram appears on one of the stages in the 3DS version! Zekrom and Milotic will appear, too. It's close enough to the launch date, so I don't have to describe this stage to you, right? The design of this stage is based off of the surroundings of someone's castle.

Going away for a couple of weeks tomorrow so expecting to come back to some juicy updates since we're now a month or so away from JP release on 3DS and 2 months away of the EU/NA releases, so they've got to start filling some holes about now, most glaringly (and I hate to bring him up), the fate of Ridley. Also we haven't seen a number of franchises represented in stage form yet like Donkey Kong or F-Zero.

Going on holiday should ease the wait a bit for me I think, after that it's just a month or so until our release date, and even closer until we know all the playable characters. I don't think I'll be able to hold out for 3-4 weeks from the JP release, but I still might try and avoid using the internet and just play through my backlog of games to-play in the meantime instead or something~

Still waiting on Wii U release date since that's the version most people are really waiting to get their hands on. At this rate we won't be playing it until late-late December.

What? This is the first that i've heard of this. :0
Don't believe it. The same rep apparently didn't know how Final Smashes work. Sounds like one of their demo attendees, not someone who'd actually have real knowledge of the full roster.

Also, worth noting, Sakurai himself said that Ubisoft modeled Rayman's trophy. If Rayman were a character, Sakurai's team would've modeled Rayman themselves and then based the trophy off their own work.

So yeah, Rayman's not playable.

I wasn't going believe it, and I don't even want Rayman. Lol. I was just interested in this rumor, along with whatever stuff pops up. :P

There's a 99% chance it was a slip of the tongue. He makes a lot of other mistakes in the video.

I see, hmm, I wonder what other mistakes this person has made.

I'm telling you right here and now if Shulk gets deconfirmed I'll probably start crying.

I haven't wanted a character to be in Smash this much since Sonic in Brawl.

But I've got nothing to worry about, since he will most likely be in. I mean, it would be such a waste if he wasn't. No Xenoblade stage and no Xenoblade music. Add to the fact that it's getting a sequel (in a sense) and to my understanding that Sakurai is a big fan of Monolith Soft, there's a really good chance that he'll be in. I can easily see it.

Some of the mechanics of Xenoblade's battle system could totally be applied to Smash. Fill up Shulk's talent gauge with normal attacks, and when it's full, Shulk's special moves turn into powerful Monado Arts for one use. It fits.

I'm noticing most people including Lucas in their mock up rosters. Is it more believed he'll come back now? Can I stop worrying and spamming refresh on every Smash Bros. related thing every day?

He has a unique moveset so I hope so. Once I saw Toon Link I pretty much thought Lucas will return.

I've been feeling the itch to get back to my town in New Leaf (the proud community of Nü Moist), so I find myself thinking more and more about Animal Crossing's presence in SSB4. It's really great -- Town and City with the changing time of day and, well, both the town and city; Tortimer's Island with the randomly generated landscape; the beehive item in addition to the pitfall; Isabelle flinging fruit as an Assist Trophy; and of course Villager, with multiple male and female alts, pocketing projectiles and thrown items, spawning and chopping down trees, riding Gyroids, deploying balloons, running and dropping saplings, plucking weeds, shooting firecrackers, twirling the umbrella, shooting the slingshot, dropping bowling balls, swinging the paper fan, catching foes in his net, etc. Perfect timing with AC's meteoric rise as one of Nintendo's top franchises, too. :-)

ROB is so awesome. I really don't understand how someone could actively dislike him.

Yeah, yeah, I know, "opinions, how do they work." But still.

The fact he moves around with one static leg is just so cool! And he has an entire battery of jet-thrusters inside his one leg! He can hover at length; he can melt faces with his flame kick. He's a character that's fun to watch move around. I'm really impressed with what Sakurai pulled off there.

Plus, ROB saved Nintendo. He's the pack-in toy that convinced retailers to stock the NES at a time when the videogame industry had more or less crashed. He was the Trojan horse that snuck Super Mario Bros., etc., into households everywhere. :-D

I don't get R.O.B.'s move-set.

I mean I get where it draws from, I just never figured out how to use him effectively. In fact often I forget he's in Smash Brothers oddly enough.

At the same time, I sort of hope he's revealed as a Starter Veteran this time, and I hope he gets a stage for himself. :)

Calling it: substansive 3DS update like a stage or mode or a veteran tomorrow.

Really need to start pushing it Sakurai, you have one month left.

ROB is great. My only gripe is he should use the Stack-Up blocks in some capacity, and his FS isn't very creative though it can be fun.

I think Sakurai is waiting until after Hyrule Warriors comes out in Japan before going into overdrive with Smash reveals. HW seems to be top priority for Nintendo right now.

Regarding the possibility of Dark Pit as a stage boss on Palutena's Temple -- I think that could also be interesting. He could aggressively stalk players across the massive stage and fire super-long-range weaponry. Could be neat.

Of course, for Palutena's Temple, I think the (Uprising spoilers)
Chaos Kin
would make an awesome and totally fitting boss. It could retreat when it's on the ropes and then sneak back for an ambush, possessing whoever it captures. :-)

Every single boss in Smash has been giant though. It'd be odd to get a HP based boss type that's about as big as a playable character - and I guess that goes for both Dark Pit and the Chaos Kin...

I cannot STAND R.O.B.

This means he'll probably return. :(
I hated Jigglypuff.

Then G&W came along, and I hated him far more. Jigglypuff grew on me.

Then R.O.B. was announced, and I hated him far more than the other two. My wife mains G&W in Brawl, and I decided to just stop hating something I can't change. ;-)

The only thing that could really upset me in SSB4 is a Krystal announcement...

There's only one Gematsu leak, and it says Shulk is "100%" playable.

No.

The first leak said Pac-Man, Mii Fighter, Little Mac, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager would be playable. The second leak, which easily could have been faked, said Palutena, Shulk, Chrom, 6th generation Pokémon representative, and Chorus Men would be playable. Just because the first round of information was correct doesn't mean he's right about everything.

This is likely. I honestly think we'll see Ganondorf return sometime around the Japanese launch of Hyrule Warriors.

He's a projectile/zone character, make use of his spinning top and his laser to damage from a distance and control opponents actions. He also has one of easiest spikes to land in the game

Sakurai could redeem Krystal.

Awesome staff-based move-set.

Maybe a Rosalina-style puppet move-set with Tricky.

No bawdy saxophone nonsense.

No heaving blue tits tempting the Dark Side of the Internet.

And she'd be appearing in a legitimately good game.

I could dig it. I think her design has some appeal, and her moves some potential.

ROB is the character for people who love the look of Famicon and NES plastic (remember, he had both color schemes).

He is the hardware p0rn character. He needs to come back!

In honor of Sakurai's birthday week, the pic of the day will be as scheduled:

Monday: Chorus Kids as Assist Trophies
Tuesday: new Snake trophy
Wednesday: Mr. Saturn item
Thursday: Dark Pit confirmed as newcomer
Friday: Bonus newcomer trailer featuring Impa, Dixie Kong, and Ice Climbers. Second picture has caption: "Thank you all for the birthday wishes! Here is a special treat from me to you! In addition to these newcomers, I must also announce that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will now enter the fight March 2015. Exactly almost seven years since Super Smash Bros. Brawl released worldwide! Amazing!"

Hmm, maybe we would get The Hyrule Temple as returning stage tomorrow in honor of Hyrule Warrior Direct.

This is likely. I honestly think we'll see Ganondorf return sometime around the Japanese launch of Hyrule Warriors.

It would be new version of up until now - Ness update. At least it wouldn't be that bad this time since we have to wait for a month and 10 days before we would find out about him.

Really need to start pushing it Sakurai, you have one month left.

Between the 3DS tournament at SDCC and a solid two weeks of substantive 3DS PotDs (7 of the last 10 have been 3DS shots, and none of them have been filler,) I'd say the 3DS version has been pushed pretty hard. We also know far more about its exclusive modes than we do about the Wii U's.

I think Sakurai is waiting until after Hyrule Warriors comes out in Japan before going into overdrive with Smash reveals. HW seems to be top priority for Nintendo right now.

And rightfully so, as it's for the Wii U. Nintendo doesn't need to market any 3DS game as hard as they do a Wii U game.

I'm definitely not anticipating a new Star Fox character for SSB4. I am curious to see if the new Star Fox Wii U game introduces any characters that would be Smash worthy.

Also, how does Fox not have a James McCloud alt? Throw on some sunglasses and you're basically done.
