Crossposting from the POTD thread:

Somebody in the review thread dropped info about the adapter only needing one USB port and the second is used for rumble. I can't find anything about that anywhere else though.

Anyone seen anything?

Has this been answered yet? Would really be important to me. I'd need to buy a USB-Hub if it wasn't true to have my HDD, Cube adapter and LAN-adapter connected simultaneousely to my Wii U.

I was pretty close to willing working from home to play smash today but I won't, at least I know it's on my Wii U ready to go.

Finally stopping at 6:40am...This game is 100x more fun than the 3DS version. My roommate and I were having a blast. I think the amiibos are amazing, it's crazy how good they can get. My Marth is only level 24 and can put up a solid fight. My goal is to make it so good it can beat humans like my roommate and friends

So this was my day. Got home from classes around 3PM, laid down for a nap around 5PM, woke up around 8:30PM, checked my phone, and...WHAT THE FUCK, UPS DELIVERED MY GAME A DAY EARLY. So that was probably one of the luckiest things to ever happen to me.

Anyway, I unlocked every character via the regular methods. Unlike the 3DS version, only a small handful are tied to classic mode so unlocking them didn't feel repetitive. ROB was the most difficult by far, but it was plenty satisfying and I think I rather enjoy Crazy Orders.

Unlocked every stage except Pac-Land. Played the largest Smash Tour map to make some progress and...fuck that shit. It's so tedious. Gotta force myself through the other two maps tomorrow.

The native 1080p output really shows. Some of the stages are insanely gorgeous. I went into practice mode and stood around FD, Pilotwings, Wuhu, Orbital Gate, etc. to watch their cycles and goddamn! Great stuff.

Played a ton of event matches and it's great to see them back. Question though, are there ever any unlocks (for the event-specific objective) besides equipment and gold? Some of them are a bit frustrating.

Mentioned it above but I played seven For Glory matches against three total people and it ran like it was local. Insanely great.

Only complaints I have are having to log in to online every time I back out to the regular menu and sometimes forgetting to set my profile when switching game modes. I turned tap jump off and mapped roll to ZR and grab to ZL (pro controller), so fucking that up really messes with me.

I daresay this will be in my top 3 of the year behind Tropical Freeze and Bayonetta 2. Nintendo stays winning.

Adapters have been weird, man. No Gamestop in my area got any. Like, no orders showed up.

Not a single store in my area got anything other than the game. No controller, adapter, amiibo, nothing.

The exception is a gamestop that supposedly has some amiibo in stock according to their website. I ordered a Samus site to store, hope its there tomorrow.

I'm not used to this though, lol. I grew up in Grand Rapids, which is the 2nd biggest city in Michigan and I'm used to stores always getting good stock for the big crowds of people. Recently bought a house out in the country and finding game related stuff out here is challenging. The line for Smash at Gamestop was like five people. At Walmart my friend and I were the only ones.

they literally announced that one during the Nintendo Direct lol

YEAH WELL

Also trophy rush seems a lot easier. I just got a 400 combo with Wii Fit Trainer and I'm getting 35+ trophies per go when in the 3DS version I would top out around 20. There are far less random electricity rings.

Okay I'm one of the earliest adopters of Smash Bros. guys. I was one of those gamers that bought the N64 game on day 1 in 1999. It instantly resonated and my best friend and I have melted over the series since that day. Up until Dota 2 it was literally the best multiplayer game I had ever played, and I had sunk thousands and thousands of hours into it across Smash 64 / Melee / and a bit of Brawl.

Are you telling me that after 15 years, FINALLY, I can have my good online Smash Bros. experience? I can FINALLY connect to my friends and play as if they were in the room for the most part? I can taunt with Pikachu not simply across matches, but across geographies? I can DOWN B not only in person, but across time and space so that the world knows his glory without so much as a stutter?

Oh my god. Oh my god. This might be my game of the forever. I want to cry tears of joy in the form of taunting Pikachus right now.

THEY DID WHAT!?

Yeah, they cut out everything after 1:45 or so.

Pretty bummed out, as you can imagine. Aside from the insane quality of the new arrangements, there's been some major missteps regarding music utilization that I'm thinking of detailing later.

Granted, I'm the sort of Smasher that always strives to look on the bright side of things, so in that sense I'm glad that after 13 years, the song is still included in *some* form.

Gosh, there really need to be more Pac-Man mains. I want to know what's up with the discrepancy between his hydrant on Wii U and 1.0.4 3DS.

anyone managed to setup 8player Smash? how does it work exactly?

8x GC controllers? (so two of those adapters?)
or 4x GC + 4x WiiU Pro Controllers

or can we do 8x WiiU Pro Controllers

Here in Brazil, 12 AM EST was actually 3 AM. Since I have work to do today, I went to sleep early yesterday, set the alarm clock to 3 AM, played it for an hour, went back to sleep, woke up at 7 AM and now I'm working... while I check the Smash thread on Gaf!

This is my first Smash game (I've only played the GC and Wii versions for about an hour or two), and it feels great!

I got 8 Gamecube controllers to work, Wavebirds, as well as a mixed variety of Wiimotes, Pro Controllers, 3DSes, Classic Controller Pros, and Nunchuck Combos.

All so fucking flawless. It's great.

I played about 50 matches online. The input delay/latency is formidable, at least 200ms, maybe more. But it's consistent in how long it takes at least.

I got absolutely wrecked by a Little Mac. I took one game off him in maybe twenty. Had fun though.

Dumb! :( As someone else who cares very deeply about the music in Smash, I'd love to hear your thoughts when you get a chance to jot them down. Likewise, I'm glad to see the song staying strong after 13 years, but that's still slightly disappointing...

Just got back from my friends place, we played for a lot longer than we anticipated. Everyone, except for one of us have to wake up in two to three hours to work. No regrets.

We also did two player teams online. Buttery smooth even through wifi.

Tomorrow we're getting a group together for some 8-player madness. 4-players was crazy enough but 8 should be something else entirely, I can't wait!

I can't stress enough how good the game is, it's soooo good! :')

that's great news! (that I can mix and match any combination of controllers)

anyone bought those Smash GC Controllers? - are they the same good old GC Controllers just rebranded?

thinking of getting an adapter + 4x GC Smash Controllers (should have never sold my Gamecube...)

already have 4x WiiU Pro Controllers! (can't imagine using the Wiimote for this...)

anyone found a deal on those GC stuff?
I bought the digital game on the WiiU eShop, didn't jump on the bundle.

Those random electricity things only come down when you stand in one place for too long.

So I ordered my copy of Smash Bros along with the controller adapter a while ago from Amazon. It says that both are guaranteed to arrive today. However, Amazon's saying the game's on its way, but the adapter hasn't shipped yet. I could've sworn I ordered both at once and as a package. And even though it says the adapter hasn't shipped, it still guarantees an arrival today. Unless Amazon's got teleporters, I doubt it...

Is it possible to do 4 player FFA online with a local partner or is it just limited to team battles?
