Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

What if they looked like they did in Nintendoland?

Wii_U_Nintendo_Land_Mii_chr06.jpg

I suppose it's a little better but I don't know. I've always been on the fence with them.

I guess the CG videos for each character is part of Namco's contribution? Like the SF X Tekken cutscenes we got.

I also LOVE the little character artwork each character gets, especially the Anime-style one with Mega Man and co.

I'm hoping we'll get character trailers for at least all of the newcomers.

So wait... does this mean we'll know everything about Smash before it launches?
just like what happened with Brawl? the Dojo thing?

Also, I hope that those names are not final (or the logo for that matter) the "for X system" looks hideous.. Couldn't find an uglier font? name it just "U" or "3DS" with a fierce font and get rid of the "for", that thing makes it look cheap and tacky.

Who else is shocked this is coming out in 2014? I was expecting a late 2015 release.
I expected it to come out in 2015 when Iwata mentioned screenshots would be shown at E3 and assumed it was a sign it was still early in development, but when a trailer was confirmed I figured it'd release sooner and development was going faster than I expected.

It's pretty weird to think we're going to be getting this a year after its announcement after Brawl getting so many delays between its announcement and release.

If Yellow Devil is apparently a boss in story mode or something, then I want Proto to show up too.

I can dream.

I'm just here hoping that's a regular melee-styled adventure mode, honestly.

None of the SSE stuff. Just give us fun cutscenes after we beat adventure or classic mode, tekken style.

So, I always kind of felt after Uprising Pit would "replace" Yoshi as kind of the new "Original Eight", you know, since Yoshi sort of faded from popularity, and this trailer seems to show that, but what if Yoshi hasn't been revealed with the other original 8 because of a change to him? There was that idea of adding Baby Mario and working him in somehow, or perhaps a new move set to a rather stale character.

That's interesting, I didn't think about that. Yoshi's the only one of the "original 8" missing. We got 7 of the original 8, a Melee rep (Bowser) and a Brawl rep (Pit). Definitely points to a change in Yoshi. Maybe Baby Mario, maybe Yarn upgrade in place of Kirby, since the Yarn Yoshi game is coming soon?

Also, I don't understand. Why do people NOT WANT MIIs?

I'm okay with Mii if it's literally a customizable Mii you can upload from your Miiverse. But if it's a generic Mii like generic Animal Crossing villager, I'm not as excited. That being said, I'm sure the Mii can have an interesting move set from Wii Sports/Wii Sports Resort.

Super Smash Bros 4 Wii U
Super Smash Bros 4 3DS
Does Mario still have the fucking Fludd crap?
smh sakurai smh

Didn't you see the video? It's better now! Keep your charge on hit. Bigger hit and push.

Every character from Brawl returns and rumor says that it'll 50 characters, We know 3 new characters so that means 12 slots are missing. Plus we don't know wnything about the online features.

The most we know is that he has gone on record saying Brawl had the perfectly sized roster and he probably wouldn't exceed that number. Not those exact words but that's the way I've interpreted it.

So don't expect 50 characters. Expect something in the 35-40 range again.

All Sakurai said is that he doesn't want to just add a bunch of new characters to the roster and call it good, he said nothing about limiting the size of the roster.

If the rumor is true, then that's already 6 new characters. With a new FE, Pokemon, Pikmin, Kid Icarus, and DK coming out between Brawl and Smash 4, I don't know if that leaves enough room for those games to get some representatives. Not to mention X and W101.

Even if you add those six characters, that still leaves plenty of room for the "popular" characters:

Mewtwo
Ridley
King K. Rool
Palutena
Shulk
Takamaru
Roy

That is thirteen right there. Add that to the Brawl roster and you have fourty-eight characters total. Personally I don't see all of those characters getting in, but the point is there is still room for the big guns before we start cutting ourselves with shards of clay.

All Sakurai said is that he doesn't want to just add a bunch of new characters to the roster and call it good, he said nothing about limiting the size of the roster.

And with Villager and potentially Mii playable after writing them off before (too peaceful anyone), I don't think he is someone that's word should be taken very literally unless specified.

That's the only way I could see them being included seeing as that's how Mario Kart did them (customisable Miis, not move sets from Wii Sports).

Do...do people really think those are the names?

I'm more concerned with locking down protagonists from unrepresented series. Send that Isaac/Shulk combo our way. It's also why the rest of that leaked roster wouldn't be an issue. Mewtwo, Roy, Ridley all those folks ought to get in line after.

Poor showing of characters so far other the the regulars and Mega man. I really hope there are some obscure fan favourites.

Not really.

I thought Villager and WFT were awesome. If the rumor is true, I can't wait for Pac-Man, Little Mac and Mii.. I admitted that I'm concerned about Pac-Man and Mii.

I cannot imagine them picking a generic Mii instead of the ones you've made. I mean... wouldn't it completely go against not only its name but the entire point of Miis?

What kind of attacks can a Mii do? Hit them with swapnotes?
But maybe, they might give the Mii a Wii Sports moveset. Hitting other characters with a bat for a homerun or golf club for a birdy haha.

Yeah, that's the main thing I can think of. And personally? That sound much better for Waluigi to come in from all the mario sport games. Eff the mii.

Otherwise it could maybe be a blank slate character that clones whoever you pick for it, letting you basically have a customized person. But I doubt that.

I hope they do a lot of cutting to Brawl's cast and mix it up a bit, instead of trying to play it safe by moving most of the characters over. I could probably pick almost half of the cast in Brawl that I'd rather see left behind for new characters.

Wii Fit Trainer looks so funny lol. Don't dislike her though.

So the handheld version has different stages huh? I wonder what other differences there are. Different single player campaign? Trophies or stickers based more on the handheld games? Am I gonna have to get both versions eventually? Hmmm

What does that even mean? Keeping characters isn't inherently "playing it safe." Brawl has maybe one or two characters that don't deserve to be in this one, and even that's stretching it.

Watch it be ROB.

At least they're changing characters that were the same since the N64 game.

I'd rather they keep everyone. Sometimes "mixing it up" isn't always a good thing.

The two announced characters from the first party stable show they are really scooping the bottom of the barrel in my book, The Villager and in particular the Wii Fit Trainer? Lame additions. Mega Man's a good one though.

No way that they would get rid of Mr. Game and Watch.

Time for me to trying to raise awareness of laughing dog at miiverse if I can.

Riot in the goddamn streets.

Also don't want Mii character for 2 reasons:

1) The goddawful "lol Hitler Mii vs Mario" and anything of the like.
2) Animal Crossing villager already uses a bunch of disconnected items as his moveset, Mii would probably be a similar play style, I'd just rather have somebody different and interesting.

Well...Animal Crossing is one of their biggest IPs in terms of sales..why not?

Bottom of the barrel? Villager used to be one of the highest requested characters for Brawl. Just because most people gave up on him after Iwata Asks and Famitsu doesn't change how popular he was for that period in time.

Look at time when he posted those "unlikely" prediction.

Credit to Ryce who brought it up.

This fellow is 100 percent accurate so far, and Gemantsu (spelling?) claims someone told them this reveal lineup is slated for E3. So as this week progresses, we may indeed see Mii, Little Mac and Pac-Man revealed.
Holy shit...
It's finally time for Little Mac :')
Thank you Sakurai, You are now forgiven.

Oh man, I could not stop laughing when I saw this. WHAT.

I'm not sure if you're aware but Nintendo teased they had a big surprise to announce later on in the day. Some reporters waited around for 40 minutes to find out what it was. Could it be a new game announcement?

It was the Wii Fit trainer in Super Smash Brothers (lol). Nintendo are off their fucking head. I don't understand how they thought people would be really interested in this.
