Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

October 2007, during testing. There won't be any Smash Bros. leaks until the end of development. The only people who currently know anything about the game are the developers in Japan and the Treehouse translators in America, neither of whom are going to spoil anything about the game (for obvious reasons). Testers have no sentimental attachment to the work and are more likely to break a nondisclosure agreement.

If only..if only. Although, I doubt I'll believe the information if something were to get leaked. Too many fakes.

Would a Mt. Silver stage work?

Say, fighting while Pokemon: Gold/Silver trainer fights (spoilers for Pokemon Gold/Silver)
Red
in the background.

I think that could be a rather epic stage, while also advertising that new movie that's coming out.

I would totally love a Goldenrod City stage being a spiritual successor to Saffron City...

Dunno... ANYTHING from Johto would make my 10 year old self happy.

Why not go for the more recent Castelia City from Black/White acting as the spritual successor to Saffron City?

also Black/White are my favorites of the series, so I may be a bit biased...

Wait... if they're going to do the whole handheld/console stage thing... Would Pokemon stages in Wii U be based on the console games? Or would it not matter since its mainly a handheld series?

...

You know what, I should make a level wishlist.

I hate Unova :(

I'll be fine with N's castle though... or that carnival city.

Some pages ago I mentioned that Sakurai had no involvement with the balancing of Sonic or Link. With Smash Boards down I can't find the source, I can only find the Game Faqs version without a source.

Apparently Sakurai had no direct involvement with either Sonic's or Link's implementation in Brawl.

Maybe I jumped the gun with being specific on balancing but it does raise some questions either way, like why Link of all characters?

Sakurai was too busy balancing Metaknight to bother with Link. *snort*

I recall it being said in the past that it was Toon Link he was referring too, and not Link. Of course that was long ago and on Smashboards.

That's incorrect -- it's either a mistranslation or misconception of some kind. Sakurai has talked about designing both Link (SSB64 site) and Sonic (in his 2008 GDC speech). It also makes no sense whatsoever that he wouldn't be involved in the implementation of those characters, especially Link.

How good is the netplay for you guys? I've tried playing 64 and Melee via netplay with friends and we always get desync issues.

They both work well as long as your computer can handle Melee/Dolphin. PJ64K is less demanding so more people are on that; it's pretty easy to setup but can be laggy if your connection is bad, otherwise the system works fine.

qq more, you might not be able to play it as well. If it's less demanding, then yeah, but I ended up finding out that it was actually your internet connection that was causing the desyncs due to the speed.

Yeah, the Smash Bros games all runs 60fps with no trouble. Just that in netplay there would be random desyncing issues every time we start a match. No matter how we fix it... it still desyncs :<

I'm guessing it was the upload speed? I think my internet connection has improved over the months, but I don't think it's enough unfortunately.

Do you have any links to when the roster was leaked back then, with reactions if possible? Maybe even on gaf? :)

Yep, but also download speed as well. Use www.speedtest.net to check.

I wonder what Shulk's moveset would be like.

In Xenoblade the effect of the attack (Mostly applied to shulk) seem to work better when applied to a team.

Like Shulk makes someone suffer break, then someone uses topple, then he uses his yellow arts to inflict daze. Wonder if he were playable would Sakurai just give him the effects to his moveset alone, but still in some for of set up?

Like Neutral B if it connects in a certain way, you could use his hypothetical down B to make the opponent trip. And how would his
ability to see into the future be worked into Smash?
.

He could use Riki as his counter attack.

His final smash would be Reyn Time

Hm, maybe he is a character that can buff/debuff things.

Like, say weakening an enemy to make it more susceptible to damage or something.

As for the spoilered ,they could of made an interesting SSE moment with it, but that's all I can think of.

Upload speed is noticably better. Download speed... worse/better... I can't tell. I do recall the download speed hitting at 1MB/sec nowadays. For comparisons sake it used to cap at 700-800MB/sec when we've played.

Are you ready to feel the power of my internet?

But yeah, you should be able to play N64, but I believe you need at least 2.5 upload for Dolphin to keep synced.

I don't know, I'd like to think Sakurai would actually want to implement that in his moveset.

You have the power, now wish for every thing to be in the game!

3DS, SNES or GC Rainbow Road ala Mute Cty/Aero Port would be cool. Just nnot using those fucking Shy Guys, I want to see Koopas, Toads, Funky Kong, Waluigi, Toadette, Daysi, Rosaina, etc in the karts.

A Xenoblade stage would be cool too, Bionis is beautiful everywhere

It could also be the server you were on as some people can't play in certain servers. Not all servers are equally structured/set up, so you should try somewhere else. If you're playing Smash 64 there are three main servers you can try on Kaillera:

Galaxy 64 - 66.175.211.87:27888 (most popular)
Smash FU - 204.62.14.45:27888 (most stable)
House of LUV - 66.45.238.156:27888 (pretty good too)

How do you get such good connection speed?! :O

Good to know it's good enough for N64, thanks! Maybe we can play SSB64 sometime lol

Oh wow. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Would it be overkill overdrive to have F-Zero, Mario Kart, Excite, and Waverace stages?

Would it be overkill overdrive to have F-Zero, Mario Kart, Excite, and Waverace stages?

What if Sakurai is preparing a grand prix stage where you go through circuits of these games? That would be cool and there could be a lot of stage hazards (waves in waverace, items in mario kart, etc)

Now we just sit back and wait for daripad's power to get to work.
