Some guy on Smashboards knew someone who was a playtester (or was the playtester) and hinted at R.O.B being the Ancient Minister/playable. He also confirmed Ness and another character I cannot think of right now.
Because things might slow down on the Smash site and I know how much everybody here loves /v/, here's this (probably fake, but whatever this shit is fun to talk about) thing:
Nothing too out there besides maybe revealing Sonic as early as this year, but we'll know if it's fake or not by next Tuesday. Plus playable Palutena would (help) me get over Ridley being a stage-hazard!
Ugh, Lucario is goddawful. Was Ridley being only a stage hazard confirmed or is it just SmashGAF being SmashGAF. I'm guessing it's the latter.

As long as we get Sonic back in the game, I'll be happy.
Mainly because the idea of having the Blue Blur versus the Blue Bomber is so... so... good.
I will probably weep openly when/if Sonic is announced as returning. Then all I need are Pac-Man or Bomber-Man assist trophies.
I don't remember if they said anything about assist trophies...
Now I'm a little worried that those won't be in there. Minor panic.

Mega Lucario looks pretty badass if you ask me. I'm totally up for that. Mewtwo should come back too (even though I'm not a fan of his Mega form at all).

Also, funny Manaphy story: up until this year, I never saw the bugger but the online friends I regularly Brawl with have encountered him twice...at times when I hadn't been playing. Then recently when I got booted off from a match due to bad college Wi-Fi, they claimed they just saw him. When I got back in time for a new match, boom, he just comes out of a Pokéball. We couldn't stop laughing.
The next day, one of my friends admitted they just made up the story of how they first saw him that night just to taunt me while I was fixing my connection. In other words, their first "sighting" of the night was false and, by sheer coincidence, Manaphy just popped out two minutes later.
I still can't get over this.

If veteran character reveals get gamers hard, then why blow your load early and reveal too many new ones in one go?
I bought that Gamecube to Wiimote adapter from amazon so I can use the GC controller on the Wii U. It works pretty well except you have to tap the Start button twice quickly for it to "press start". I think if you just press start for less than a second, it works as Select, and if you hold start, it opens the home menu. It's a little weird but I'm satisfied otherwise.
I only tried it with the Wavebird, you guys are kind of right that there's lag... but it's honestly perfectly playable. The input lag is nothing to worry about, it's barely there. I'll try with the wired gamecube controller later for comparisons.

But just one new character? If they're just doing monthly reveals, there could easily be a balance between newcomers/veterans.
TBF, the game is pretty far away and they're way more likely to not show off any unlockable characters until release. (3rd parties and Luigi being exceptions)

The only thing I can see Magnus do, is if he "represented" a lot of the heavy weaponry in Uprising somehow (why would he be using other weapons though?). I mean I love ALL the characters in Uprising, but as been said before Palutena's still the best bet followed by the likes of Viridi or Hades (Virdi has her weaponry and Hades is just awesome, but I can see him using Brawler claws at the very least)
Yeah SS Zelda is probably my favorite Zelda design, but I'm really hoping Sakurai can pull a Wario and let players choose which Zelda to play as. The default is SS Zelda and Impa, but you can switch to a TP/OoT/Classic Smash based Zelda and Sheik. Same thing with Link, switching between the SS/TP design and the OOT White Tights design (although the difference is so minor I doubt it, Zelda has a pretty good chance though)

I know, but I have a feeling that there's going to be far more starters that are veterans than there are for newcomers. The game won't be out for a long time so it probably makes sense to save the most exciting reveals for later.
Basically, I had been given a fair bit of information ahead of timee (Pokémon focused mostly, plus I was told about Sonic ahead of reveal) and I was doing my duty, as I do today for Pokémon, by shooting down fakes that I knew were fakes.
People started to see a pattern in what I was proclaiming fake and what I was ignoring, specifically they noticed me saying any roster with Mewtwo in it was fake.
As of then, people started to take notice, since I am a credible person due to my site. However, people took advantage of this and started faking logs of conversations with me, with me supposedly revealing stuff to them. They made up ridiculous friendship backstories between myself and them to attempt to make it credible.
Needless to say, due to that and the legal issues that hit with the leaks regarding Black & White in 2010, should any information come my way regarding this (and XY for that matter), I'm not going to risk it.
Interestingly, and frustratingly, though, some people seem to be mis-remembering history and claim I was wrong and was calling Lucario rosters fake and saying Mewtwo was in it. Human memory, eh?

Doesn't help that his design is very intentionally fairly generic and doesn't really stand out at all stacked up against other action heroes. Works within the game, doesn't really work to represent it.

October 12 is the release date of Pokemon X & Y. Assuming this rumor is true, which I doubt it is, they could make a special announcement to coincide with this.
Without an exception it doesn't work. If the dates are in US time, that makes the update on Sunday in Japan time. If it's in Japan time, that's Saturday. They only update on weekdays.
I've encountered Manaphy ONCE around the time Brawl launched, while playing with a friend, and boy do I remember that shit VIVIDLY.
Me and a friend were playing against two CPUs on Frigate Orpheon. I think I seen the Dojo update about Manaphy a while before but totally forgot about it. Anyways I had Sonic and my friend had Mario, one CPU I can't remember which character it was but the other was R.O.B. Anyways my friend picks up the Pokeball and throws it, Manaphy says hi. Unbeknownst to him, He and R.O.B switch...he catches on seconds later when he sees his movements aren't matching with his joystick inputs and starts complaining before he realizes whats happened. The funny thing about the whole ordeal R.O.B's sneaky, cunning ass (who is now Mario temporarily) seems to have KNOWN when the switch was to run out, so he inexplicably jumps OFF the stage and uses his double jump right when its time. R.O.B gets his original body back, my friend gets Mario and before he can react to attempt a Cape or Up B, his ass plummets to his doom.
To this day whenever R.O.B is fighting in Free For Alls with us, he's consumed by a single minded fury on taking him out first and deliberately.

I could see a special update in the XY launch day, but even if Lucario is back in the roster, wouldn't it make more sense to reveal Mewtwo who is hinted to be relevant to the XY story instead? I mean, I'm not taking Mewtwo's return for granted either, but it seems like a more natural idea of their part.
His design while nothing special is actually unique. He design is simple, generic it isn't really.
Edit: sakurai is all about simple yet unique things, Pit is a very unique take on mythology and Kirby falls under the same trope as martian manhunter and the Skrulls. Making simple yet unique things is his strong suit.
Nothing has hinted Mewtwo being relevant to XY's story.

Mewtwo appears along with Xerneas and Yveltal in the OST cover art (normally this is a single artwork with Mewtwo to the left). Maybe 'hinted' is a big word, but it seems likely.
