Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

So it's not smash related. I'm not surprised.

Expect him to be that trophy item at MAX

Frigging this.

Also, for those who have seen the website, would you all mind the character select screen looking like that? Obviously the newcomers blocks would be the same size as everyone elses, but I think that would be an interesting character select screen.

Pokemans related smash thing.

If mega forms are used in smash.

Wouldn't they just stay that way the whole match because technically they are in a battle?

Person below me, from the information given this form is only achieved in battle while holding item. Making a super Move Probably wouldn't be the best representation . I think they might just transform into it as soon as the match starts, however you might actually be on to something.

You remember samus and zero suit, what if it acts like that, but you just stay mega the whole match. And mega form has its own Final smash.

Interesting.

Interesting.

I hope they implement them as something like that, or maybe even just a damage % that triggers the transformation.

Adding the Mega forms as invincible Final Smash power ups like Giga Bowser/Warioman/Super Sonic would be rather repetitive at this point, and would be underwhelming, considering how they likely won't be instant win cards in Pokemon itself.

As for it not working like in the game... I can't see them making a model of their basic state just for their intro.

Gah...

That new form.

It looks like Jessie from Team Rocket had sex with a bottle opener and Megatwo was the end result.

Actually reminds me more of Storm Eagle from Megaman X.

Which is more awesome because Storm Eagle is my favorite Maverick!

I'm happy knowing Sakurai enjoys making these games after reading an article.

"Oftentimes I'm asked by the overseas media if I feel any pressure when making a title like Smash Bros," he continued. "Like I've written before, on a personal level, I don't feel anything like pressure. It's really fun work. Sometimes you have to resign yourself to the fact that things will work out the way they're meant to work out. But you need to funnel your regrets to the next project and work as hard as you can on that. The pain goes away, but your work always remains."

Dunsparce for Smash

I will take this chance to say that I fell in love with Dunsparce in Sapphire, but thought I was the only one back in the day as he wasn't great and I mainly liked how he looked (he's so adorable!), was my favorite Pokemon.

Then years later I found out I apparently wasn't the only one who had Dunsparce as his favorite. Such an off thing to realize, honestly.

So speaking of the 'ol pokemans... anybody psyducked for the (possible) return of Pichu?
Eh?
Eeeehh?

What'd you think guys? Pichu or bust, am I right?

Joanna Dark too! They even had her mines in Melee ;_;

Definitely! Banjo and Joanna Dark would have been in Brawl. Banjo in Melee methinks.

At least we've got Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. There's some Rare magic in Smash Bros.

I want some Diddy Kong Racing music. Dat David Wise/Rare magic.

The things I would do to have Banjo & Kazooie in Super Smash Bros. /:

You and me both. D:

Joanna Dark would have been good.

The Rare situation still manages to depress people after all these years...

Rare leaving Nintendo. The percentages of blame:

The Stamper Brothers 45%
Nintendo 35%
Microsoft 20%

I think, had Rare stayed with Nintendo through the GCN years, they'd have been a character (together) in Brawl.
While Rare's scribes section is long gone, Loveday said a few years ago in response to a question about the studio's involvement with Melee that they'd made a ton of stuff for the game, but only a few things wound up in the final product. I think he was mainly talking about trophies though, but it's still interesting nonetheless.

Fuck, I haven't been following any Smash news at all, when was Luigi revealed? and does that make him no longer unlockable? (I hope Jigglypuff gets the same treatment, her and Luigi are the only veterans who've never been starter characters)

Luigi was revealed Wednesday on the Direct and we don't much about anything else. I would like to think he is now a starter and the new unlockables will be reserved for real surprise characters.

With what we've learned about Mega Evolutions today, I'm assuming they're going to be used for Final Smashes. Mewtwo > Mega Mewtwo Final Smash, Lucario would probably have the same FS as before but with his model swapping out for Mega Lucario.

I wouldn't assume that since, they change into that form for battle. And Smash in its entirety is a battle.

I would guess, they change into it from the get go, change back at the results screen.

I think he said something along the lines of lots of Rare character trophies. Probably Perfect Dark since we had a PD item, Banjo series, and maybe DKR characters. My guesses

Yeah, that seems about right. If Nintendo had decided to buy Rare completely out I think Banjo & Kazooie along with Joanna Dark would've been shoe-ins for Brawl, with Gruntilda being highly likely for this new one.

While it (sort of) made sense for Nintendo to sell them when they did, they really could have benefited with more varied franchises like Killer Instinct and Perfect Dark filling the huge software void of the Wii U. Don't buy for a second that Rare was going downhill before the Microsoft buyout simply due to one game (SFAdv) being mediocre when it was made by one out of several different teams operating in the studio and had an abnormally troubled development period.

EDIT: Also forgot to comment on the Luigi reveal due to uni and work related stuff taking up my time; really cool to see unlockables getting revealed this early, though I'd also be down with veteran 'secret' characters being starter characters for SSB4 like others have suggested as well. Kind of a shame it seems like his Poltergust isn't there though, even if it'd be a purely cosmetic difference though.
