It's just lame as hell that such an important character like ganondorf is essentially a knock off captain falcon, even if I enjoy playing him and understand the differences. I don't see it as a waste to do this as ganondorf would basically be all new and black shadow would still keep the moveset people enjoy. It would also work from the angle that fox/falco/wolf are under having 2 f-zero reps that are similar.

It's not like I don't want Ganondorf to have a more original moveset, but at the same time why would you want F-Zero/Zelda characters to keep exchanging moves? I could understand this in the context of characters from the same series that share similar body types (such as Mario/Luigi and Ness/Lucas) but F-Zero characters like Goroh and Black Shadow aren't quite like that. I'd rather them be brand new.

If Sakurai can be bothered to spice up Bowser's moveset then I'm sure he could do the same for Ganny. It probably won't be the complete overhaul people want, but I'd imagine the TP sword would fit very well in Smash in terms of quick bursts. (rather than carrying it around all the time)

then again considering Sakurai's troll comment on the Dojo in that regard maybe not lol

I am well aware that Link's arrows act differently than Toon Link's arrows, I am not saying the properties of the moves are the same. I am saying if someone has to get cut that Toon Link would be a better choice than characters like Falco or Lucas. Not only do their movesets offer more variety, but they are unique individual characters... BLARGLE! meh. ehh. Screw it. Just put this guy in.

He will have the awesome distinction of having a fart that isn't as smelly but charges faster and a shoulder charge that sends opponents more upwards. He will be lighter and faster as well. VARIETY. CHOICE. PRIORITIES.[/QUOTE]
I'm more concerned about having a fun, balanced fighting game than the skin the characters wear. I'd rather they cut Ice Climbers and other characters that are genuinely unhealthy for game balance. Granted, I understand that my viewpoint wouldn't be the most popular one, but I suppose it's my own fault for investing so much time in to Melee. :P

As a sidenote, I'd totally play a game that had an entire cast of Wario-likes. That sounds incredible.

Toon Link played a million times better than regular Link in Brawl though.

Super Garlic Bros. is launching next year on the Satellaview.

I'm more concerned about a robust cast of characters being as balanced as possible than I am about a similar cast of characters being as balanced as possible.

Ice Climbers, really? They're awesome! The Ice Climbers didn't freeze Melee's competitive scene.

Hopefully Sakurai will be able to chain grab as many balancing issues as he can in Smash 4. Especially now that he isn't the only one manning that front.

Toon Link played a million times better than regular Link in Brawl though.

Things change.

Didn't Kirby still have Melee's dash attack early during Brawl's unveil? He ended up having a different one in Brawl proper, so there's still hope F.L.U.D.D's a placeholder and they give him something like Galaxy's signature move, right?

...Right?

Well, I suppose the series is really more meant for people like you than it is for people like me. Unfortunately Melee players have nowhere else to turn in hopes of a follow up, so you have whiners like me sticking around long after Sakurai made it clear we're not welcome. :P

Concerning the icies, did you watch EVO this year? Wobbles made every match he played in horrible. I'm not a big brawler, but to my knowledge they are chaingrab extraordinaires in that game as well. Granted, I'd love it if at some point there was a trend towards competitive balance, I'm just not ready to get my hopes up about anything Smash related any more. Optimally, yes, I'd love Icies to stay around and be balanced. Realistically on the other hand...

I heard if you play competitively you never have any fun playing the game.

Is that true or is that true?

Kirby had his Side B from Melee in Brawl's reveal. There's still a chance for Fludd to be dropped.
Hopefully

Why does it need to be replaced? Just because it's not the newest thing anymore? I'm sure the main reason why F.L.U.D.D. replaced Mario Tornado was because, well, Mario Tornado didn't make much sense to begin with, so why not replace it with something that does?

F.L.U.D.D. always sucked. Always.
only half serious

And the Galaxy spin could become the new Mario Tornado. Throw some star bits in there somehow, give Luigi the Poltergust 5000 as the reverse F.L.U.D.D., and bam. That sounds like a win/win to me. :P

If they're going to keep FLUDD, they need to at least make it a worthwhile move.

Luigi's Final Smash should have him whip out the Poltergust and it starts expelling Greenies and other ghosts that harass the other players.

Lol, okay, maybe it's not that useful. I dunno, I don't play Mario much, so I don't know how viable of a move it is competitively. Still, makes more sense as a move than Mario Tornado.

And Mario's spin attack from Galaxy wouldn't make much sense as a Down Special, I don't think... As an Up Special, sure, but not a Down Special.

I would like to see the Poltergust 5000 in Luigi's move set, though.

On the topic of Luigi's final smash, what the fuck was Sakurai thinking with whatever Luigi's FS was supposed to be in Brawl?

It still makes no sense to me to this day.

I enjoyed the icy groping, and in the long run, he still lost.

It is way too early to say how sharp the competitive edge of Smash 4 will be, but I think it is a tad disingenuous to say that Sakurai doesn't care about competitive balance. If anything, he seems to be placing more importance on balance this time around. A lot of people were burned by Brawl, and I understand that, so people may read Sakurai's comments on the subject with more cynical eyes, and I understand that too. But based on what I have read from Sakurai, all signs point to Smash 4 being an improvement over Brawl.

I think it was supposed to be all of Luigi's negativity towards being constantly overshadowed by Mario.
Isn't it called Negative Zone?

Maybe he'll have a different final smash since the Year of Luigi happened?! :0

Battlefield is rated X.

What is happening here? It looks pretty.
