Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

I am shocked that Sakurai even picked that stage. It's only famous for the wrong reasons. lol

It's pretty much "Hey guys remember that scene from Other M that everyone hates? We made the stage based on it!"

But I won't complain if the stage itself turns out good. It does look interesting itself I admit... but kind of worried it'll be another rising lava stage, I feel that's overplayed at this point.

actually besides that cutscene, (and within that cutscene provides a pretty good angle and shadowing of ridley himself) people actually really liked the fight with ridley, including the stage itself, enough even that the stage was in dead or alive 3D

A lot of the art direction had to do with allowing Solid Snake to fit inside the universe without any glaring contrast. There was an element of realism Sakurai was trying to emulate that does not seem to be shared with the next game. Personally, I am enjoying the more vibrant pallete.

sakurai gets not enough props for this. especially if you have an example were everything went wrong and everybody looks out of place (Sony Allstar thingy)

Out of the blue, here's a new stage--the Pyrosphere from Metroid: Other M! An enemy from Samus's past may appear at any second…
OMG..Sakurai plz dont tease like that

hehe but seriously sakurai has been on a roll lately with the pics, like the 1st month or 2 he kinda used the same few stages with the characters interacting within them, now all of a sudden its "you get a stage, and you get a stage, and you get a stage!" its like he wanted to lure was into a state of false security

It's going to be the fucking Other M Ridley design as well, isn't it?

Just don't put him in the game at all, Sakurai, if that's the design we're going to get I'd rather not see him at all.

Please just let it be phantoon that appears and save ridley from being seen like that again.

Quack! Duckface Ridley is the most honourable of Ridleys.

I'm really liking the look of the stages we've seen so far, none of them has looked like one my buddies and I will turn off for random stage select.

Damn man, gorgeous stage. I am liking the more modest stage layouts too, nothing to bizarre or off putting (I will keep in mind that the stage may morph lol). There's quite a lot of Brawl stages we steer clear of, even when we're not playing really competitively.

I'm still expecting some crazy shit, but Sakurai and CO. have been on point so far.

Honestly most of the stage designs are boring to me, they look pretty but they are almost all just flat with some platforms.

psh this is smash brothers, stages are suppose to be bizzare

They're the stages I want the most in the new smash to be honest, it felt like the number of basic, no-nonsense stages went down from melee to brawl, so seeing a lot of new stages that look like that makes me happy that I'm not going to have to disable most of the stages whenever I play with my friends.

i doubt theres nothing that goes on in these stages minus maybe the animal crossing stage and battlefield, there will be gimmicks and things in these stages, i very much doubt sakurai will abandon the design choice of having stages that do interesting things, he's just not showing us

I am not really impressed enough with the stages in the Wii U version. Visually? Yeah they look nice and I love how they look. But I am seriously underwhelmed otherwise. The 3DS version's levels are far more appealing. Would be really nice to see really interesting stages from the Wii U version for once...

Agreed. They look like great stages so far that won't get in the way. I remember around Brawl's time when stages were being revealed people were complaining about the basic layouts of the platforms and such compared to Melee but look how some of those stages turned out. There will be a balance like always.

I agree. This one looks dull too with the same old flat stage layout.

I find the 3DS stages to be more creative so far, the reset bombed KIU stage, the scrolling Mario 3D Land stage, moving Spirit Tracks train and even the Gerudo Valley on fire.

I'm not sure what they're doing.

I forgot to note that I don't necessarily have a problem with the more eccentric stage designs/layouts. I just want somewhat of a balance. For every Flatzone, I'd like a Delfino Plaza. For some reason I really gravitate towards Smashville. Yea, you can call it Final Destination with a moving platform. But there's just something about the simplicity of that one floating platform that adds a bit more to the stage and draws me to it.

Even though we've seen stages that have for the most have part simple in their layout, I'm sure we'll see some crazy stuff pretty, and more of these "safer" designed stages will probably be in the minority lol. I can't wait to see the Pokemon Stadium in this one.

While it's funny to witness some environmental deaths (Great Fox front lasers lolololololol), some of my best and even funniest Smash moments have been played on more modestly designed stages.

Well, now is Megaman dictating art direction!

An enemy from Samus's past may appear at any second… as a playable character.

That would be the first acceptable joke from Sakurai twisted mind, if only...

Samus having post trauma thing after encountering Ridley. People bitched about it, even if she actually kicks Ridley's ass in that fantastic boss fight. The story in Other M sucked but I think that the game was the worst part, some bosses aside

But the actual game part was amazing because... it had the speedbooster in it or whatever rubbish other M fans would have you believe.
