We will get Ridley! He'll be cloned into dozens of mini Ridleys, where that Ridley will be playable! It'll be like the Ridley in the opening of SSBM.

Uh, no, the burden of proof is on you. At no point in Other M is Ridley stated to be anything but Ridley.

The game states how the creatures on the Bottle Ship are made; yes, they do come from the DNA scrapings off of Samus's suit, but it is never said that they are imperfect, or abominations, or anything like that, because of this.

Yes, Ridley was made from the scrapings of DNA off of Samus's suit. This does not mean, however, that Other M's Ridley was an imperfect Ridley--they never go into the details beyond that.

To claim that Ridley in Other M is "not actually Ridley" is flat out lying, extrapolating things yourself that are never actually laid out in the game. The game never says anything to the notion of what you're saying, and, as such, it is fanon nonsense. Cut it out.
 
Based Sakurai is taking the Metroid canon in his hands and relegating chicken clone Ridley as a background character where he belongs and introducing the REAL Ridley as a newcommer in the same update.

Yeah, I'm not sure how you can say "he's a clone" and "he's the real Ridley" together in the same post. They're kind of contradictory.

That said, there's nothing to indicate all the various other Ridleys in the series aren't similarly "clones". If anything, it'd explain how the bastard can die so many times and yet not die.

I agree but they could still put in the original Ridley over the Other M disaster look.

Besides Sakurai has hinted at characters before, he mentioned Ness in Lucas's Dojo page, and then everyone thought he was axed :p

I dunno, that was a veteran, different from a newcomer. Sakurai holds those newcomers ridiculously close to his chest.

I suppose Sakurai could always surprise me, I mean he's subverted my expectations many times before, but, well, that surprise is not something to count on.

I'm not making fun of people who are disappointed; I'm pointing out how people always have the need to argue, even when there's nothing left to argue about. Ridley is a stage hazard--plain and simple. We don't need to argue about his size, his identity, his relevance, his value, or what have you anymore. But alas, people can't let that go. It makes this whole community seem callow when the only plate of discussion is desperate drivel. Ridley's not a playable character. That's sad for those who wanted him--I get it. But crying about it doesn't add much to the discussion. Can't you find something worthwhile to talk about?

Speaking of which, I really want that Kid Icarus stage on the WiiU, but damn it all. Hopefully this actually means that the U version is getting the Space Pirate Ship.

Are any stages that are derived from games that featured on handheld systems on the Wii U version?

Can't recall any to be honest.

I know Isabelle from Animal Crossing is on the Wii U version on that City Folk Stage. I think.

I don't think so. I never played Pilotwings, but it'd be a slight stretch to consider Wuhu Island a mix, given that it made its debut in other games. I'd have to hope that whatever Kid Icarus stage the Wii U gets also leads into the Space Pirate Ship somehow for it to work.

I disagree. They might sting a little, and people might get defensive, but they definitely grab attention. Smash Bros. has always been my favorite game. I enjoy it casually and competitively, and I've always cared about its community, but there's a reason places such as SmashBoards have backrooms: the franchise attracts juvenility. Its common discussion is unwelcoming as well as unproductive. Just doin' my part to try and make it neither.

Hunters, most definitely. Admittedly, it's one of the few Metroid games I haven't played. What are the more notable locations from there? Also regarding our Wii U stage, I don't remember there being any platforms in the Ridley-fight arena. They seem pretty irregular too. Are they moving? Or is the camera angle just playing tricks?

The Ridley theme in general I expect (it's in Brawl, it's one of the series' most memorable tracks, and it would be a perfect fit for the stage, considering it's based on the place where it played), but the Other M variation in particular, I dunno. I'd rather have a new arrangement of it. Though maybe they'll include the Other M version anyway--I mean, it is pretty much the only worthwhile track in the entire game.

You never know. For Kid Icarus we could get a Wii U stage that is also from Uprising since the games(KI series) all take place in the same world. So it is still possible.
