Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

So guys what did I miss?
...
oh, another hole in the stage wall

heh

I always weep when I see people talk about Nintendo and no "new IPs" since it means they are always forgetting games like Rhythm Heaven exist. :(

I'm pretty sure the "no new IP" people are less interested in actual new IPs and more interested in seeing Mario and Zelda burn.

Has Sakurai given a hint as to when the game will be released? I know the trailer said 2014, but that could be late or early 2014.

Probably later. I can see it being Nintendo's big holiday title for both WiiU and 3DS.

though we all know it will be delayed to 2015

foxuzamaki what's with the cafe speech bubble in your avatar

is there some avatar fad going on right now or is that just part of the avatar itself

it means im part of k-on gaf actually, not everybody in k-on gaf wears it but yeah, if you see chet rippo you'll notice it, he pops into smash every once in a while

Multiple final smashes you can select for customization would be awesome. But my idea's suck so forget I said anything.

Nice picture. We get more Ridley speculation, a decent shot of Donkey Kong and the process of balancing.

I'm convinced Ridley is a stage hazard but I have hope for a playable Ridley still.

When Sakurai says DK is super strong I'm certain he's referring to King Dedede type of hits, which I couldn't be happier for since he's my main. Still it won't mean much if his Smashes have slowed down or if characters with projectiles can completely over whelm him still. More than MetaKnight or even Ice Climbers, I feared playing against high level Zero Suit Samus, Samus, Toon Link and to an extent Link as well. I certainly knew the matchup of higher tiers better because they were so much more common, but at a very high level those 3 would just completely over whelm my DK and Bowser because they knew how to manage their projectiles and tether grabs so well. Being such a big, easy target makes users with many multiple projectiles a nightmare for Bowser and DK. Dedede had a little less of those problems because his moves were so quick and agile in the air, not to mention is absurdly fast standing dodge.

I wonder how it works for the play testers who balance the game? I would assign roughly 30 people 2 characters each with some over lap. Characters that they had to learn the ins and outs of so they figure out how to exploit flaws in the game. That's where things got really bad in Brawl. I mean not one person got a chain grab in during the testing time? Still I trust Namco's guys more than anyone to handle it.

That's different. Wii Fit has one main character, the Wii Fit Trainer (and the male) and Rhythm Heaven has no character that appears that often.

While Rhythm Heaven doesn't have a "main character" per se, it does have several iconic, recurring characters that are somewhat comparable to a less-known Pikachu. Karate Joe could work, as could the Barista, the Tap Trials Girl, Marshall, or my personal bet, Rhythm Monkey. The latter even recently got his own hat in the StreetPass Mii Plaza.

I really hope we get a Rhythm Heaven character. The series is just too good, and a character would be so quirky and fun. I don't think it's terribly likely, but I didn't think an Animal Crossing character was, either, so...

It looks like Luigi is air dodging.

That's not an air dodge, that is the non-tumble animation. Luigi is at low % and was getting thrown from DK's Down Throw. The graphical effects surrounding him are from DK's down throw, the portion of the move when DK slams them into the ground, which are commonly the "impact" GFX when you hit the floor. They're much closer in color to Melee's impact GFX, which is nice, because Brawl's impact GFX were pretty plain.

so I just looked into a bumped xenoblade LTTP thread and I noticed meelow was banned, I never met him personally but being a lurker before having an account I knew who he is, I then notice that streetsahead has been banned aswell, who will be our official translator when sakurai gives a interview now!? they both dont have avatars anymore, i know mods say that isnt a indicator of if a person is permed or not but still, who else speaks japanese? as I dont trust google translate.

I don't know about Meelow (I think he's been gone awhile?) but StreetsAhead's ban should be ending soon, I think.

I can see Barista being the Rhythm Heaven rep and uses various stuff in the games for attacks, like the pole thingie in the polyrhythm games, or the katana used by the samurai.
