Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

I really like that those balloons are his recovery and can be popped. If you're good enough you can completely screw him over by popping his only way back mwahaahah!

I wouldn't mind an actual SSB anime as long as it's cool n stuff. But more importantly I want a Phoenix Wright anime because it would work sooo well!

Also, Villager's Final Smash should involve him shaking a tree w/ a beehive so it can fall and UNLEASH BEES

I'm assuming that's some completely different anime and not some weird cross-promotion Smash ad right? That sucks. Could have been cool.

I take the Balloon Fighter reference and also the screenshot showing Villager with a boxing glove to mean that he's going to be an amalgamation of several NES characters (Little Mac, Baloon Fighter) that don't really warrant their own spot in the roster. Just my two cents, I know a lot of people would like Little Mac to have his own character.

Did Kirby's hammer stop King Dedede from getting in?

I admit, as much as I like Villager, his upward special will always make me a little sad... I've been rooting for Balloon Fighter to make it as a playable character on his own for quite a while now. :'s

They thought about him for Melee, and I wouldn't be surprised if they thought about him during Brawl. They clearly couldn't think of how to make him a fighter so making Villagers balloon based recovery a reference to Balloon Fight is a pretty clever way around it.

Or maybe the balloon recovery should have been a reference to Star Walk which has the added bonus of an audible and visual life span.

So, with a Pokemon Direct tomorrow, and the upcoming tv special, I wonder if we might get confirmation of the Pokemon Trainer tomorrow...

...is it bad that I've never played a Paper Mario game? >_>

I kind of do too, though it's doubtful. Depends on how easily Villager can recover from all the balloons getting popped.

I've also never played a paper mario game

Eh, seems X/Y only.

directs are almost never "x game only" they always have a one more thing or something that will go along with it, it could also be announcing that pokemon wiiU tease, and I wouldnt be surprised if we got any pokemon in smash news

I have an open mind, I'll play all 4 and probably enjoy all 4 for different reasons.

I enjoyed them all to an extent, even SPM. But SPM was just too dang tedious for me at times...

I did not mind that SPM tried something new, I was all for its idea of a platformer + rpg mix, but I felt it wasn't very well executed. It had way too much talking, even though the writing is as good as ever, but it breaks the pacing for the type of game it tried to be.

I think the biggest issue I had however was how I get stuck so easily because the game doesn't do a good job at telling you what to do next. There were too many moments where I had to look up a FAQ to figure out what to do.

It's been years since I last played the game, so I might give it a replay and see how I feel the 2nd time.

As for Sticker Star... well, a lot of the game felt pointless as there's no leveling up system or an actual story to keep you interested. The boss fights takes forever if you don't know their weakness, and every giant fish enemy are assholes (that Cheep Cheep boss and the stupid raft level comes to mind).

Also, a lot of the creativity is lacking, it felt like they pulled a NSMB. Every single enemy are common Mario enemies with an exception of maybe a few (which came from NSMB anyways). Also, there's hardly any towns... just one and it's not really interesting. It felt like the anti-Paper Mario.

I actually tried playing it with very low expectations because of all of the complaints I've heard, so it did helped me enjoy the game somewhat but... it's really a 6/10 game to me at best. It's just not that interesting of a game, get's kind of too boring at times.

I'll say this for Sticker Star though... the music is damn good. Probably the catchiest soundtrack of the entire series. It might've been why I played it from start to finish... lol

Pit's Arrows are going to wreck that recovery. There being two makes it tougher for someone like Marth, but maybe his N-air can still get it in one shot since it hits twice?

Edit: Also, Super Paper Mario is masterclass in terms of game writing. Treehouse is incredible.

lol, Bees would be such a great final smash, they're really the most threatening part of AC. Curious to see what his final smash will be either way.

Something tells me we'll get a more creative FS for Villager. Bees could be pretty fun for creating chaos, though.

I'd love if he used the megaphone to call some randomized neighbors to help him fight. I'm guessing it will be something related to houses/furniture though. Hard to say but I'm excited to see it.

I'm likin dese grafix, yes sir. The impact effects look upgraded, like how Fox's landing smoke was a few days back. The DK stuff yesterday, Mario's shoe, the bloom on the platform in today's pic, some POLISH bein added here and there.

Even NSMB introduces new enemies. The only enemies Sticker Star introduced were paper variants. Really disappointed in that front. But the story bit is kinda a weak complaint considering that every Paper Mario pretty much has a very same-y story. It was the lack of different NPCs and lack of dialogue that was anti-Paper Mario. Especially when Bowser doesn't speak for the whole game.

When I say story I include dialog, character interactions, a lot of things. I don't think that's a weak complaint. Sooo much of that is missing and it upsets me as it is one of the best things about TTYD and SPM.

And yeah, it was very dumb at how little appearance Bowser had...

Yea, I agree with those complaints, I just don't consider it to be a part of the story. I always thought of story as just the plot. I'm probably just not really verse on what exactly falls under a story lol.

Haha, it could be just me. I'm not really good at words!

Also spoilers near the end of the game:
Was it me or does Kersti's sacrifice felt completely tacted-on for many reasons?

I think it is because you don't really interact with Kersti or develop any "compassion" towards Kersti which causes the sacrifice not to seem like it was anything really important.

That's what I thought too! Not to mention, it was even dumber that she reappears literally a few minutes after that fight. lol
