Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

But this shot is pretty interesting. It shows them on Skyloft. Previous screens of the stage only showed that you fight on a floating platform that flies around Skyloft. Now we know you land on Skyloft at some point(s).
No, we've known that Skyloft was like Delfino Plaza since the initial trailer, and several shots in the character profiles show them in different Skyloft locations. There's nothing new in today's picture at all.

Well, they already shown that in first trailer. When you see Link doing his forward smash, that's where you can see it.

Just a quick look through to see where the fight moves to:

Forget exactly where this is in Skyloft, but it's definitely there somewhere.

Hard to tell exactly, but it's not the floating platform, that's for sure. I think it's the top of the tower where the bird nest is, or at least nearby, as they showed that the fight is sometimes brought there in the initial trailer.

And then we have today's picture on the bridge, which I think is a location already shown in the initial trailer. I want to say it was also shown taking place in front of the Goddess Statue in one of the videos, and, if you pay close attention, you can tell the platform on top of the Goddess Statue has been altered in its structure with additional slopes that aren't there in SS, indicating it's another fighting area. I know the Smash Direct also showed it landing in front of one of the Bazaar's entrances as well.

Just for your information though, when they showed Delfinia in the Dojo before Brawl came out it featured some locations that didn't end up in the final game.

This page says that in the Sonic trailer the platforms seem to go in the Lighthouse area which it doesn't in the final game.

It's true, but I remember even something else. Don't recall exactly what.

It's heading to the pillar islands in the that clip, it's just passing by the lighthouse in the process. That can happen in Brawl since the order of landing is somewhat randomized.

what other secrets are in Brawl development? I only know of the characters names that were found on the disc.

Which I really hope they don't come back in this one!

There's a Mr. Saturn sprite hidden in the texture used for the Metroid Assist Trophy. You would never see it in gameplay, of course, so it's a particularly amusing Easter Egg to me.

Like Peach third eye inside her head? That was a funny one!

Ridley debate's are never gonna be over right guys?

About Mewtwo I can see his return with his "mega" form but not from Roy since we had Awakening and that game is brilliant!

No, I'm not butt-hurt, and I don't see you post anything else. I come into the thread every now and then, and every time, one of the last 5 posts is you making a joke about Ridley. And they're all groanworthily bad.

So my post earlier stating a drought is Ridley based? Or the Skyloft post? Or the Mega Man collector post? Or the Mega Man 3DS screen shot?

I don't think so, buddy.

There are unused textures for Captain Falcon, Meta Knight, and Link that show part of their wardrobe damaged (Captain Falcon's helmet/visor, Meta Knight's mask, and Link's sword and shield).

There are unused animations for Fox and Falco that seem to be of their blasters misfiring.

Wolf has an unused animation identical to Fox's rapid kick.

There are names in the enemies list that suggest there were going to be Kirby enemies present.

The textures for the trophy of Perry the Parasol from Super Princess Peach follow the naming conventions of Peach's character textures, suggesting that she may have originally used Perry for her Parasol move instead of the generic one.

There are unused individualized victory themes for characters other than Meta Knight (just named, they aren't actually present). This includes individualized victory themes for Roy and Mewtwo, but not Wolf.

There are also listed unused music tracks.

This page is a pretty comprehensive list of unused Brawl stuff:

I do really hope sakurai brings the battle damaged textures back, I think it was a good and interesting idea and would look even better on the wiiU

I find it funny how they graphically enhanced Delfino Plaza for Brawl yet didn't do the same for Skyloft here. Either they haven't done so yet, or they didn't want to mess with the "unique" graphical style

and by unique I mean shit. God, those trees will never stop haunting me, will they?.

Buh..buh!

What was that? I don't recall.

its something thats in the game's code but never used, one of the like 3 DYKG about smash mentions them and shows pictures of them, mostly revolving the mask and helmet of captain falcon and metaknight aswell as link;s shield

Battle damage might have made sense with Brawl's muted, semi-realistic art direction, but SSB4 is far too cutesy and colorful for it to work this time around. It'd be too distracting.

These are the images.

Brawl was suppose to get battle damage textures for characters. Such as Metaknight's mask getting scratches and cracks.

Was there a reason they never happened? That'd of looked pretty damn cool.

I'm pretty glad they weren't implemented. They look very distracting and decidedly against the entire cartoony premise of the combat. Plus I'm not sure I'd want a bunch of scuffed up and damaged characters in what is supposed to be a Nintendo dream match.

Plus the idea that the Master Sword could be damaged at all is kind of goofy.

Well it could always be a "nice touch" besides most of the time you really kinda don't pay that much attention in the match but if a third person is watching they would pick up all the little details.

I wish someone would make a controller adapter for 3DS. I had an extremely tough time fighting the final boss in Luigis Mansion yesterday due to that shitty circle pad. I found my thumb getting sweaty and slipping off the circle pad a number of times, to the point where I had to pause the game and chill the fuck out every couple of minutes.

I fear this will be extremely common while playing Smash 3DS. And that sucks.

I need a GameCube controller to 3ds headphone jack adapter, stat!

Yeah, I'm interested to see how the 3DS controls will hold up for Smash. I always get kinda worried playing fighting games on portables because you can't just buy a new controller when you wear out all the buttons, my shoulder buttons are already a lot less clicky as it is.

I hope they support instant smashes with the second stick addon too, then I might buy one.

I agree with this. My hands get sweaty and then I slide waaaayyy too often.

Bundled grips please.

I am not seeing exactly what the issue is here

1) cartoons can have and will look damaged.

2) how would it be disrtacting since you would be fighting all th etime

3) why would cuts take away from a dream match

4) this is a game where a blue hedgehog can punch a extra-dimenstional wizard theif in the face, yes smash bros is goofy.

I am not really seeing the issues here.

I'd be all for damage on characters as the fight goes on; although it should be optional.
Excellent. I wonder how much you'll have by release. How many do you have now?
I have about eight so far (not counting ones part of Mega Man's page).

I think this game will decide whenever or not Ridley will be playable. If he's not in, the majority of the community will have given up on Ridley ever getting in. Smash 3DS and Wii U seems to be a "make or break" point for most characters.

As for Roy, I could see him return. I don't see an Awakening rep as a sure bet or even among the most likely things to happen and I could see Sakurai being content with Marth, Ike and Roy for the next game.

Well, apparently they did see the issues, hence battle damage is not in it. I would argue it has no place in Smash Bros. and adds nothing.

Battle damage fits in with games that are a bit more down to earth in their violence, but seeing Mario's overalls get scuffed up and cut or something in the middle of something as overtly cartoony as Smash Bros. would take me out of the experience. The rules of Smash Bros. are so above and beyond different from the real world that emphasizing real world implications seems diametrically opposed to the entire point of the titles.

And no, the Master Sword breaking is nonsense. It's completely out of character for it.

It's not like the Master Sword is the strongest sword, anyway.

At least, not until it's tempered and arbitrarily made out of (enchanted?) gold. So sayeth LttP!

Yeah, I hear ya. I can't imagine it happening if if doesn't happen now. The next Smash, if any, will a very long time away. I can't see two Smashes on the same console, and the generation's supposed to last 10 years, so there's gonna be a huge gap.

something like this would be pretty cool to be able to use http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLbqN4kIrFw

Seems like a better idea they were left out, if i'm honest.
This is just a case of imagined potential. Say if the ideas implemented and not implemented were swapped we'd probably still think that they left out the better ideas simply because we imagine they had great potential.
