Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Brawl tourney, whoever can sit through enough lag wins

I do Brawl matches in the IRC sometimes though and they are playable most of the time

I'd be down for the tourney if my Wii didn't burn along with my house half a year ago. Ah well, I'll be ready for one by the time Smash 4 is out.

I've played Brawl online regularly since launch and aside from the connection chaos at launch, I've hardly had any problems with it.

I'd be down with some matches.

Well, I actually have a TV that I can play my Wii on now (although it doesn't really like the PAL input, but oh well, I can live with blurry), I'd just have to get off my lazy ass and set up my Wlan, and also find my Wifi dongle.

First gen Wii or something? I remember I had to send mine in so it would work with dual-layered.

kinda yeah, the thing about my wii is it works with dual layers, it just a case of ejecting and inserting the disk until it works, this could be all from one try, or many many tries, playing xenoblade was hell whenever I did turn it off and wanted to play relatively soon

Yeah, I played so much Brawl that it worked OK for a few months then I had to keep ejecting/inserting the disk to get it to work, haha. Eventually I had to send the poor thing in.

OMG Peach looks adorable in the game! so cute~ she's always one of my mains! *totally missed her reveal*

EDIT: if anyone can get rid of the white background in my avy I'd love you forever

If we're sharing dual layer nightmare stories, I got the NTSC version of the game with a freeloader so I could play it as soon as possible and my lens wasn't reading the game at all. I was so excited for it, and I was going on holiday for a week or so the day after it came. Luckily my little brother also had his own Wii, which I begged him for me to swap just so I could play it.

In hindsight it might've been in my interests to have just sent it off to be fixed, but I think Nintendo were charging for it because it was out of warranty by the time Brawl was released and I got it on launch. I wasn't too happy at all...

My Wii still works! Kind of. I need to stick something into the disk drive when I load the disk because the feeder thingy doesn't always catch the disk right.

My launch Wii still works as well, what a beast. It long outlasted my launch 360 and PS3. I still need the homebrew channel to play Brawl though because I've got the NTSC version of Brawl since the PAL version was delayed by 6 months.
I hope Smash 4 has a simultaneous release because I doubt there's going to be a freeloader available for the Wii U.

And this is why I usually avoid launch day consoles. Even if I want the thing, something is wrong with it most of the time.
It isn't usually a problem with Nintendo systems.

I mean my system's problems are really as a result of me accidentally knocking it over by pulling the GameCube controller chord a bit much (their length is pretty short).. Had to glue the memory card lid back together as a result and it got a few marks. Apart from that it's playing fine.

First observation: I am surprised that you can still find a 4 person online Brawl game as easily as you can.

Second: If the connection is bad and it's a 4 person match, then playing Snake is kind of miserable.

Mine basically refuses to load double layer discs most of the time, and 100% of the time via something like Gecko. I had to buy a PAL copy of Brawl just because my NTSC copy wasn't working. :(

Didn't you get your Wii disc lens fixed/cleaned by Nintendo when Brawl released? I remember that they were offering to do it for free, I had to get it done because I had the exact same problem as you.

ike and ike and snake on castle siege

that was fun

for me, i guess, i don't think the ikes had much fun

seriously, stop charging up swings and try to hit me

Yeah its not common. But I do hear from time to time how some Wiis die when reading dual layered discs and all that. That kind of stuff freaks me out anyway, even if the chances of it happening is low compared to other console makers.

I'm just paranoid DX

Finally got my account validated! I've been a "lurker"? Since the past thread filled up and you moved over to this one. Excited to finally be able to add my two cents!

Oh jeez, the post everyone will judge me off of - my opinion on the controversial topic of Ridley. Honestly, I don't see the appeal, we already have a flying dragon who in my opinion is superior (Charizard) and would rather them use that spot for someone else.

Ridley's supporters are very few now, don't worry.

hehe my launch day Wii still works flawlessly <3

My launch wii works.....disk drive aside.

My Brawl copy has a higher chance of it not being recognized :(
It gets recognized after a while though

my wii works perfectly otherwise, its just the dual layer disks that give it trouble
