Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Dreamcast layout > Nintendo layout

Ehhh

Pressing 'B' for back feels backwards on Dreamcast and Xbox. I don't like it. I do like the Dreamcast controller overall though.

Can we all just celebrate the wii for being able to play every single smash bro. game so far, brawl, melee for BC, and 64 for virtual console. literally the smash console of choice.

And the 'A' button is usually a primary button in most games and I prefer it being closer to the edge of where your hands are holding the controller.

NOPE. Wii did nothing right. The internet told me so.

SNES(PAL)/S.Famciom button layout should have been the standard both letter and colour wise.

At least Sony used their own symbols. I'm always finding myself looking at XBox controllers because I keep pressing the wrong button.

The audience in 64.

That game also had the best SFX if you ask me.
I agree 100% with this, I hope the crowd comes back in a big way, they were always there but they really added to the smash experience in 64, god just another reason why smash clones just cant compete with smahs itself
But if I kill it with fire how will I porn? My VHS collection is worn out.
DVDs are the future I hear

Should we blame Sega for having their own ripped off ideas stolen by Microsoft?

The DVD lobby must have brainwashed you with their anti-VCR propaganda.

They talk of being able to listen to music and download PC games without buying them, I think I believe them.

This reminds me of that one time where some gaming journalist complained that Nintendo didn't use the Xbox layout because he thought it was confusing with two different layouts.

Microsoft didn't actually rip them off, they actually partnered up with the Dreamcast and created the OS and had a hand in some of the hardware if I recall. Although, SEGA has done quite a bit of things before the competition. I loved how innovative they were as a console maker.

Also you can also blame Sony for the layout, at least outside of Japan since the middle button = confirm and the right button = cancel. I love having the confirm button as the main button, it's why the Gamecube controller rules. (and many other reasons)

I know about Microsoft designing the OS for the Dreamcast, but I have never read anything about Microsoft being involved with anything else besides that.

Do you guys think that this games Event Mode will match up with Melee's? Or do you think it might be like Brawl's?

I think that since they won't be spending as much time on SSE they might even pull of something better then Melee's. I'm Hopeful.

Brawl's event matches get the shaft. The full blown co-op mode was awesome, and I hope it returns.

I'm surprised they didn't add online to the co-op Event Matches, all considering they've already done it for some of the other co-op modes.

Yeah, the single player aspect for Brawl was honestly disappointing in almost every single way compared to Melee's.

I think about the only good thing about Brawl's single player was the co-op additions. Other than that, every game mode's counterpart manages to be terrible or just not as good as Melee's.

And this is all coming from a guy who loves single player content in Smash and prefers Brawl overall.

Subspace is head and shoulders above Melee's Adventure mode.

You should have been able to pick The Great Maze stages in multiplayer. You know, the ones where you fight the dark clones? There were a lot of them, maybe they could have been randomized every time you pick them or something, since they were all similar but with different platform layouts. I thought they were cool and I was bummed when I learned that they were trapped in Subspace. I think someone else in here has complained about that as well.

Brawl, ya shat in the toaster with that one.

I thought the same but then I've replayed it. When the novelty is gone and you've already experienced the story... it's really one of the most boring platformers ever.

The levels are far less interesting than Melee's Adventure Mode because they're all generic lands with generic platforming... they're so... uninteresting. It really does not help it plays slow and the level design drags on and on. Oh and the pacing... oh god the pacing, why was there a lengthy metroidvania-dedicated level after going through so many stages? SSE was just a long slow boring adventure with a novelty attached to it.

Melee's Adventure Mode is far better. SSE suffered from the "MORE AND LONGER IS BETTER" mindset developers tends to have.

Yeah, the story held that thing together. I could see it really being exciting if you weren't aware of the roster too.

Since Sakurai said he's not doing a story mode this time around (because YouTube lmao) I hope we can at least get something similar to the Melee adventure mode. Maybe flesh it out a bit more, though.

I want it to be different for each cgaracter or series. Like Super Mario.Bros series stages for all the Mario characters, Zelda stages for all Zelda characters, etc. You fight a final boss from those series in the end. Mario characters fight Bowser Jr and Zelda characters fight Big Ganon

That would be kind of disappointing. Since it's a crossover game, it wouldn't make sense if Mario characters don't crossover to Zelda stages for an example.

Scrap the SSE idea (what Sakurai is doing anyway) and focus on bringing back Adventure Mode because it's the perfect thing to celebrate each franchise, which is what Smash is all about.

Nintendo should make a platformer that's like a fully realized SSE with a fleshed out story using Nintendo characters.

This ain't half bad. I approve of this 'Xenoblade' in my Smash.
The area the music's used for is absolutely stunning, too. Not sure if it'd be the best possible place for a stage in the game, but it's certainly the best one I've seen in the 20-or-so hours I've played it.
