Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

So say Shulk got in. How would visions work? Would the game delay an opposing player's input to show what would happen if the Shulk player was about to get defeated and take action to "change the future"?

Thoughts?

I personally think it would slow the battle down. You could ditch visions but that's kinda part of Shulk's character and his motif.
I'd seen it suggested that Shulk's Final Smash would be a vision from the Monado. The other players would be replaced with high-level CPUs (because if the opposing players had their way they could simply do nothing) that brutally beat up a powerless Shulk for a few seconds. After those are up, it snaps back to when the FS was activated, and the CPUs re-enact those actions. Shulk proudly proclaims "The future does not belong to you!" and he, the player now having full control and knowing what the CPUs are going to do, whales out damage on them instead. Maybe they get replaced with low-level CPUs once you've changed their plans, I dunno. After a brief moment, everyone regains control of their characters.

Alternatively, instead of recording a "future", as soon as Shulk breaks the Smash Ball, the usual "vision" shimmer comes on, and everyone has full control of their characters. Shulk can active his FS at any time, which will clear the "vision" shimmer and replay the prior five seconds of gameplay (or from when the Smash Ball was broken, whichever's shorter) for everyone but himself, and he can whale on them that way. On the other hand, if the others can whale on him enough to knock the Smash Ball out again, it's all for naught. I dunno if he'd keep the vision through a KO or not; I'd say not, so players with good timing can turn off the vision just before they're about to be KO'd, while those with worse timing are KO'd and lose the Ball.

But the more I think about it, the more I think it'll be too difficult to make work; even if you limited it to a single target instead of everyone in the game. Instead, you're more likely to have two random teammates materialize out of thin-air and perform a Chain Attack alongside Shulk, which would almost always result in a KO. Maybe even let the player choose the Arts to be performed, and have different effects; you could have Sharla do Metal Blast, Reyn follow up with Wild Down, and then Shulk finish it off with Back Slash for a KO on high-% opponents, or Shaker Edge to incur a dizzy effect on a low-% opponent. I dunno.

Therefore you should add Dunban instead. Because he was born into a world of strife, against the odds, choosing to fight. Because Blossom Dance.
What you did here: I see it

..ok

anyways

what is everyone's most wanted song for Smash Bros 4? I personally hope they remix GSC music, can't believe that was entirely ignored for Brawl outside of the reused Melee's remix.
I've got a whole post on it.

But if I had to narrow it down to one track per series, this for Mega Man (no, it's not from Classic, sue me; Mega Man 2's Skull Castle is already covered, anyway), this for Sonic (or maybe one of these two; I forgot all about these three tracks somehow, focusing so much on Planet Wisp), this for Metal Gear (this song's really grown on me), this for Xenoblade (but I really want this in it too :<), this for EarthBound, this for Mario, this for Metroid, this for Zelda (but more seriously, "Tarm Ruins" would be nice to see a proper remix of, or perhaps Link's Awakening's take on the main theme), this for Pokémon (I can dream), and this would come back for Break the Targets.

I know I'm forgetting some series, but eh, there's only so much time in a day.

hey lets talk about something important

Brawl had most of (all of?) Melee's music in the game. Is it realistic to believe Smash 4 will actually bring back all of Brawl's music? If not, which songs would you like to see return?

Off the top of my head, I really liked the Corneria and Dark World remixes from Brawl.

Brawl had most of Melee's OST, but cut several tracks such as Great Bay, Yoshi's Story, Fourside, etc.

Given the mass volume of Brawl's OST, I doubt every song is going to return, but here's some songs I'd love to see come back:

Melee Menu (the Sakuraba arrangement, and my personal favorite)
Bramble Blast
Butter Building
Luigi Raceway
Snowman
Zelda Title Theme
Legendary Air Ride Machine
Pikmin World Map Medley

There's a lot more, of course, but these were the quickest favorites I could think of.

There's no way the Pokemon rep won't be Pokemon Trainer. He's the most relevant to X/Ys release and he's a starting character (even though that doesn't seem to matter much anymore)

I'd honestly like it if they moved past the Kanto starters for Pokemon Trainers.

I know some people would be really mad (for different reasons), but it'd be a nice change of pace.

I think PT should stay with his present team, but I definitely feel future games in Smash should not introduce playable Gen 1 Pokemon. Between Red's team, Pikachu, Jiggs and Mewtwo we have sufficient.

I still say they should have a 2nd trainer so it's a win-win.

I really don't want any characters to get actually replaced, especially not iconic characters. Squirtle and Charizard are especially iconic.

It is pretty startling to retroactively look back and notice that there is only one playable pokemon that isnt from gen 1

There's kind of a reason why I want playable Eevee, although it's probably not very feasible to work... It would represent multiple generations.

As far as Starters goes, I don't think any of the other sets are as universally loved as the Kanto ones.

Just finished watching Origin, and because of that, and how popular Charizard is lately, I would definitely bank on PT returning. Plus it'd be great to play as Charizard again. Pokémon Trainer was definitely a reveal I wasn't expecting back in the day especially with the ability to switch between three characters in-battle, it'd be great to have him back on the roster.

I'm expecting all the Pokémon characters from Brawl to come back now, because of how much Lucario is still being represented. Riolu was available early on in BW2, there's a dude dressed up as him on every Pokémon Smash, and of course with XY he's getting a Mega evolution and
there's a massive statue of him which I saw somewhere in-game.

Would love to see Jigglypuff back too, because it wouldn't be the same without her, and watching Evo this year made me appreciate how deadly she can be when utilised properly. If Smash 4 is more popular with the tourney crowd this time, hopefully she'd be returned to her former glory as well. Mewtwo also needs to come back and needs no explanation, but I would be okay if he replaced Lucario as well.

make it both.

Chespin, Dewott and Charizard.

Keep Charizard because he's the popular starter pokemon, and use Chespin and Dewott for 5th and 6th gen reps.

Final smash will either stay the same or Charizard becomes a Mega.

Mewtwo is who I have faith in, being the revealed character for pokemon. Just a week left!

Next time this thread goes off the rails I'm gonna use it for self serving purposes.

Which means mushroom avatars for everyone.

Yaay! Time to purposely cause things to go in a different direction.

He's a veteran, but he might get a basic Sonic-style trailer since he wasn't in the last game.

This is what I expect for Mewtwo. Hopefully!

Mega Kanto Starters for Final Smash would be neat.
It wouldn't make sense for Squirtle and Ivysaur, and really, I hope the Mega Evolution idea is contained to Mewtwo. Half of the Pokémon characters in the game don't need to share the same X/Y gameplay mechanic. That would be overkill.

I really don't want Pokemon Trainer back. I just know Sakurai will keep all the forced revolving mechanics and stamina and weakness crap. I'd rather he was just multiple characters in one slot, like Zelda or Samus. No restrictions.

Things have been a bit more fast-paced in terms of character reveals lately, so hopefully we're on track for the Wii U version. If the game is estimated for a summer release I'd say a new trailer and some newcomers for the holiday season would be nice

what no

squirtle >>>>>>>>>>>>> dewott

>:(

I was thinking, what if Marina from Mischief Makers slid herself in as Sakurai's WTF character?

Is there really anticipation for Mega Evolution to appear for Pokemon in Smash? I never thought about it before until now.

That sounds really exciting.
