If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure the whole "Kirby is eight inches tall" thing was only mentioned in Smash and that's it.

I highly doubt that. Sakurai most definitely is in the know of internal projects for Nintendo. Even for Sonic he got a Sonic Lost Worlds stage.

Nobody else in the game has a hair-based move set, so there's certainly potential for Dixie to be a unique character. She's also a really well known "mainstream" character, and having more females isn't a bad thing.
I'd also disagree that two DK reps is enough -- it's Nintendo's fourth best-selling franchise after Zelda. If Kirby and Star Fox can have three characters, then so can Donkey Kong.

Better question: is Kirby's cameo in Link's Awakening canon? Think about it: Kirby is from Dreamland, and Link's Awakening takes PLACE in a dream. A dream Link is having while sleeping in an inn in SMRPG! So when Kirby sees Samus, it's because SHE'S dreaming in that OTHER inn in SMRPG!

No, she only appears at the end. There's Metroids in rooms throughout the level and defeating them all (with an ice power and kicking them into the wall) gives you one of the MacGuffins in the game. There's several other Nintendo cameos in Dreamland 3.

Dixie was planned for Brawl, so I'd say she's a given now that she's relevant again.
Speaking of fighting Metroids, doesn't Pit also fight Metroids? Clearly Samus' xenocide is not yet finished.
Then again, the Last Metroid is in captivity in my front room next to my Arwing and Firebar.
Futhermore, I would merge DK and Diddy into one single character. I also think toon link is wasted space too. I see a potential interesting moveset for Toon Link (deku leaf, a tornado attack wich acts mainly in the ground and is mobile like in wind waker, and the like) but him being a just a lighter clone with different effects it's a letdown.

Not really, Komaytos have been there since the very first game and are a little different. Then again Komayto is a play of words on Metroid Child or something like that.

That TF trailer has me wanting Dixie equally as much as K.Rool at this point, oh such a cruel world where the chance of having both is seemingly an impossibility, hell I think i'll be lucky to get one of them.
I had to play SSB multiplayer with the Wii remote and nunchuck setup for the first time earlier, i'm surprised at how fast I adapted compared to using the Classic Controller, still not exactly an optimal way to play but it worked better than I expected.

No way. Diddy and Dixie are different enough to be their own characters. Just because one game had them playable together doesn't mean they should become the Ice Climbers.
I'm still holding on to the theory Sakurai is doing something big with customization (it would explain why so many characters look so samey) perhaps he's ported over a lot of Brawl data and Namco has worked on (at the most) three potential movesets for each character that you can mix and match and transfer between versions?

(Despite not being supported by any sort of evidence) Kid Icarus takes place in the same universe as The Legend of Zelda!
1. In both universes the earth has three main goddesses we know about.

Din - Goddess of Power: Associated with fire, Volcanoes, depicted with a snake around her neck in Twilight Princess
Nayru - Goddess of Wisdom: Associated with light and water, depicted with a harp
Farore - Goddess of Courage: Associated with life/nature
Kid Icarus
Palutena is called "Professor Palutena", "Bookworm" and "Owl". The Owl is the symbol for the greek goddess Minerva - The Goddess of Wisdom. Also, likes to play the harp.
Obviously Viridi fills the role of being associated with nature. Courage might be a bit tricky, but fighting a war against Palutena AND the Underworld as well as not just giving up Pit after the events of Chapter 17+18 (spoilers) has to count for something.
Medusa seeks Power, she resides in a Volcano in the underworld and is THE prime example of a snake.

From what we've seen in Kid Icarus: Uprising both universes also share some unique traits like floating Sky Islands and an over-abundance of monsters. Technologically the humans in both universes seem to be at about the same level, with the average human having no chance against the monsters at all.
The concept of a wish seed, granting a single wish to the first person to touch it is identical to the concept of the Triforce (although the Wishseed is fake).
The goddesses in Kid Icarus: Uprising have the power to grant humans supernatural abilities, just like the Triforce pieces amplify the power of their bearer.

I don't get why people expect King K Rool to ever represent the DK franchise at this point. Unless there is a surprise twist in Tropical Freeze the franchise has clearly moved on without his character.
2015?! Nononono, they can't afford that. If Mario Kart and Smash cannot save the Wii U in 2014...well I don't even want to go there. Looking at below GameCube numbers aren't we?

Ugh, delaying smash Til 2015 would definitely hurt them. Nintendo needs 3rd party support and it needs it fast. What we have heard from 3rd parties is that they are willing to support the Wii U once the install base is larger and it makes more financial success for them. Nintendo needs to start pushing units quickly and the best way to do that is Huge 1st party titles. Mario 3D world and Wii Fit U will help a bit this winter but it is honestly next spring that has the biggest potential to push units and gain support. DKRTF, Mario Kart 8 and smash all getting released first quarter (or second in the case of smash) will really set them up to win back some 3rd party developers, especially if Sonic Lost World, Watch Dogs, and Assassin's Creed 4 can put up big numbers

No way, Dixie is far from bland.
Probably pretty good. Playing SSBB with the PS3 controller was a suprisingly pleasant experience for me (especially since I couldn't play the game for shit with the Classic Controller+). Needed some time to get used to it, but now I'm already almost as good as with the Gamecube controller.
Dixie's new Gumball Popgun makes for an obvious standard special move, and her up special move would obviously be the Helicopter Twirl. I could see her side special being something like Pit's old Angel Ring/R.O.B.'s Arm Rotor but using her ponytail. As for her down special, maybe she'll play the electric guitar (think Barbara's Assist Trophy) -- either that or the new ponytail ground slap, but that might be too similar to Donkey Kong's.

yet we still get captain falcon in every smash game
But K. Rool isn't a three-time Smash Bros. veteran. Captain Falcon was very relevant when he was first put into the series.
