Supercut of Obama Responding to Every Mass Shooting During his Tenure

goddamn thats depressing. if we arent going to ban automatics after children get lit up the shit aint never happening. shameful as fuck.

Time for Clinton to bring back the Clinton Assaulted Weapons ban.

It was stupid to let it lapse. It needs to be hung around the neck of those up for relaxation that wont support it.

And yet America can't come together and do something about this. It's such a sad thing to see. It's a news story for a few days and life goes on, waiting for the next shooting to happen.

He's probably going to have to do 2 or 3 more of these before he leaves office. :(

And I have to say, his last speech, he sounded, utterly, and completely defeated. Like he knew the fight was over, and he lost.

edit: That Newtown video is heatbreaking...

Incredibly depressing to see this.

To think there's an extremely good chance he'll be doing this again at least once before he leaves office...

Really drives home the fact that we don't give a shit about anyone. Incidents over and over and over again later and we do nothing.

Fuck the 2nd Amendment.

I feel like his last reply should be. "You know the deal, heartbreaking sad, ya da ya da blah blah, I know you dont give a shit, fuck yall, thank goodness I'll be oughta here soon".

edit: Just watched the ending and that was almost what he sort of said.

I mean is the US the dumbest country on the planet. Am I allowed to say that?

I think you'll find few Americans around here who would disagree with that, especially in reference to our Congress.

Not at all. Americans are not dumber than anyone else. America is so rich and powerful that infighting by some factions within it, has only their own interest at heart. That is all it is.

Americans are not dumber than Chinese, Saudi Arabians, Europeans or Japanese or anyone else.

The apathy, and corporate power that comes from having a political climate that is so entrenched in corporate money and lobbying is what allows this to happen. NRA buy people in congress and in the senate, because it's legal, it's okay and because it has been a slippery slope for decades that has gone out of hand.
That is all it is. Every country on earth should look at the United States and be afraid at what can happen when powerful interest groups get access to political power and sway.
NRA wouldn't be able to operate its influence if there was no money in politics.

It's a catch-22 because young people are tuning out. The media is fixtured on the negativity. It's like that everywhere. For the progress that has been made, what gets the most attention is the bad things.

That was hard to watch. Real hard and I'm a pretty strong guy.

I can't imagine what it must be like to have to stand in front of the nation and do this repeatedly.

I feel beaten down as it is, as a bystander. I wouldn't want his job. I feel truly beaten down by all this madness.

You can see the change in his expression, tone, inflection throughout the video. It must truly be maddening to be the president and be helpless in this situation.

16 times. And that's just when he spoke. We have plenty more gun violence than that.

Powerful, incredibly depressing video. Sandy Hook changed Obama pretty clearly; he was utterly broken during that press conference. His responses in the video after Sandy Hook become tinged not only with grief, but with anger and frustration; at our collective inaction, and his own helplessness to impart change. Now all he can so is mark them, like the passing of time, and ask why we've decided this is okay.

I always picture his final speech like Ray Patterson from the Simpsons.

Sure there may be stupider countries, but America's is compounded by its supposed level of being the top first world country(?), the one everyone aspires to, the first country to land on the moon. And yet it cant figure out how to stop people dying from gun violence. America's scientists arent even allowed to study gun violence and how it might be reduced. There's likely hundreds of ways it could be reduced, especially with our tech level now.

At this rate America might as well even give everyone guns from the age of 15 and required everyone carry at all times. If the NRA or whomever thinks that might help. It would surely be better than sitting and just doing nothing.

I sincerely hope he, or whoever succeeds him won't have to make another statement like that. I just depressing that these have happen so much that they've actually become an expectation

That's a tiny fraction of all mass shootings during his tenure.

I seriously think that intelligent gun control is required in america. Australia has had like 3 mass shootings since heavy firearms restrictions were introduced 20 years ago (excluding the 2014 Sydney hostage crisis, and the Hunt family murders shouldn't really count) which is a huge reduction compared to years before the restrictions were enacted. Also, none of those 3 mass shootings were close to Port Arthur, nor close to many of the mass shootings in America.

America just needs to start acting. Saying "The problem is too big" is worthless and lazy. I'm frustrated on behalf of the good chunk of US citizens who want positive change. Must be awful.

We should be so ashamed as a country over the inaction of the people we elected to represent us.

Why would they bother acting if people don't want them to act that way? I'm sure if citizens marched in the streets demanding change, the message would get through clearer. But nope.

Don't take my guns away. My family or friends haven't been mass shooting victims so why change. It's not a choice there will always be violence. Yep, makes sense right.

"But muh guns"
"I are responsible gun owner"
"Here's my Midwestern / Southern anecdote on guns"
"B-But mental health!"

Did I miss any other bullshit excuse?

This was a real post on my fb feed. I say was since I went off on him with the death toll and evidence and its now been deleted.
I just hope all my friends and family who think 'differently' than I do come to their senses and realize the tragedy in Florida was the evil of terrorism testing our nation's security and ultimate 'unity'. This was America's "Paris". We need to stop getting distracted by impractical solutions and fight back to put a REAL end to their agenda. You know who you are, and I'm sorry if you feel otherwise. But soon enough, reality will become evident, and by then it will be too late.

THE LARGEST MASS SHOOTING IN US HISTORY HAPPENED December 29,1890. When 297 Sioux Indians at Wounded Knee Creek on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota were murdered by federal agents & members of the 7th Cavalry who had come to confiscate their firearms “for their own safety and protection”. The slaughter began after the majority of the Sioux had peacefully turned in their firearms. The Calvary began shooting, and managed to wipe out the entire camp. 200 of the 297 victims were women and children.

Wounded Knee was among the first federally backed gun confiscation attempts in United States history. It ended in the senseless murder of 297 people.

The Second Amendment, the right of the people to take up arms in defense of themselves, their families, and property in the face of invading armies or an oppressive government. The Second Amendment was written by people who fled oppressive and tyrannical regimes in Europe, and it refers to the right of American citizens to be armed for defensive purposes, should such tyranny arise in the United States.

Wounded Knee is the prime example of why the Second Amendment exists, and why we should vehemently resist any attempts to infringe on our Rights to Bear Arms. Without the Second Amendment we will be totally stripped of any ability to defend ourselves and our families.

Found this on my Facebook wall.

I really do hope the US can actually decrease the amount of mass shootings that occur every year now soon. I feel for obama. He really can't do much to prevent these mass shootings from continuing to occur as long as the NRA and congress are preventing legislation related to gun violence from being passed.

''The video is propaganda''
''Shit happens, Obama is a pussy, we need to buy more guns and shoot any bad guys''
''Elementary school shooting was a hoax, a false flag''

Just from the first YT comments page.

Regulating guns is impractical, but destroying an ideology is not. Uh huh.

Some people are so blind.

It doesn't matter how you view it - you can either blame guns or people and the end result is the same.

Nothing will come of it.

We will continue having these conversations, the same arguments, the same rhetoric and more gun sales every. fucking. time. Like the President said, "sometimes i feel there's a creeping resignation, that these tragedies are somehow the way it is".
